Mine does. So I am thinking it depends upon the provider. jmo

When you send a text through your providers website it looks just like it came from the cell phone itself? We have to remember that LE has the actual phone records.

I'll just say it and mods come smack me if I'm out of line, but this new statement from LE makes it seem very very very very HIGHLY UNLIKELY that there is some " poi " named or un named other than MR. This is my opinion, but it seems that way. If they were looking in other locations that a wandering RSO had taken him, they would be saying John Doe ina blue chevrolet ,etc etc. So these locations are places MR frequents, used to live or has friends/ relatives living there or a place he works or passes on his way to any of the above. Otherwise , how would LE possibly know where to look?
There is no UNKNOWN POI. LE knows who it is and most of us do too.
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO . where's the cow emote?

Darn it guys, slow down. I'm so far behind that I didn't even realize we were on a new thread. Off to catch up.

  • #184
folks, iirc there was a lot of good sleuthing done on MR locations in previous threads (work locations and property locations)

In the lull it might be interesting to find those posts and locations and highlight any bridge areas

I will try to dig thru and compile a list of info that could be helpful.

At this point a case map could be effective in keeping track.

I would think that since computers leave a trace for everything they do, LE's forensic tech guys would be able to tell if a computer was used to send a text (even if it appears the same on a cell phone bill). I'm no expert on that, though!

It depends upon the electronic device. If you are talking Ipod, it does show who the text is from just as if it were the cell phone. Computer depends upon the provider. jmo

Respectfully, I believe you misunderstood what I meant. A text might "say" its from Dylan, but unless you are there to "see" the sender, there is no way to verify it was Dylan who sent it. Only that it was sent from an electronic device associated with Dylan. See what I mean?

Yep. I agree. And that's why I don't think LE is showing or talking much about this last "electronic communication". They know. I think they're letting someone else know that they know. Hopefully anyway.

Like when my husband grabs my phone and starts sending texts out? They say they are from me but they are really just from my phone. Or I leave my email logged in and he zaps off an email from my account. Not from me but from an account associated with me.

Finally caught up. :) I was thinking about the driving 400 miles and back statement that was made upthread. LE took both MR's vehicles and had them forensically tested. If he went out of the area with them, they would show different foilage or plant life in the grill or undercarriage. Just a thought. Don't know where I'm going with it, just throwing it out there.

I was wondering it that electronic message was a messenger, skype or facebook
or something and has nothing to do with the phone. Maybe he got home, got online and chatted a bit and then went POOF at 9:37.

I agree with most of what you say, they are checking locations associated with MR. But I also assume they are following up on other leads, searching locations possibly associated with local sex offenders and other anti-social people (like people who've been charged with animal torture and the like). I don't think we can assume that the only locations they are searching are those related purely to MR.

If it was not sent through the actual phone it will not show up on the cell phone records. Definitely not if sent through your providers website. I know because I've done it. I used to do it a lot when I was on the computer and too lazy to get up and go get my phone :) Plus I had limited text messaging and I could send and receive them there for free.

I saw that he work(ed) for United Pipeline Systems. At least he did at the time of some sort of kitchen fire in April 2010. I can't find confirmation that he still works there. But the address for United Pipeline Systems in Durango is 135 Turner Drive. Is that worth putting on a map?

I just don't get who Dylan would of texted at 9:37 if it was not mum or his brother and R .

I still think it could of been R's text sent to Dylan's phone and there was a delay on it arriving IMO .

If Dylan was in trouble I am sure his first thought would of been to call mum IMO

Well they did use the word 'text'. Those are not texting to me but there are apps and programs to text from an ipod and a computer.

Great idea. Do we really know that it was one electronic message sent at 9:37pm? OR could he have been chatting/messaging on an online account (one that requires some kind of log-in).. and his last message of that nature was at 9:37pm?

That was some 2 weeks later! He could have had them detailed by then.

Sure but those vehicles were not taken for testing until 10 days after Dylan was reported missing. Might be an interesting investigative tool but legally speaking, we have no idea where those trucks had been driven in the past ten days and no way to prove they had or had not left the house.

A text is a text. There is IM's and facebook messaging etc but those are not texts. Of course there could be in error in that statement.

Dylan has friends other than R, both in Bayfield and Monument. They've been in news articles, videos, talked about on facebook, etc. One of them is most probable to me, but of course, Dylan knows many other people as well.
