I've been doing some thinking and if MR is responsible or involved in Dylan's disappearance either he killed Dylan or there was an accident and MR is covering it up. I know many on this thread feel comfortable with the idea that MR may have been heartless enough to kill his son. While I think it's possible, I just find myself struggling to get to that conclusion for some reason.

However, I certainly can imagine MR covering up some kind of accident. MR may have thought if Dylan died bc of an accident on his first night/morning in town, he would be accused of killing him. (Maybe not having the foresight to see that this is what would happen in a "missing" case as well). I don't know why I feel this way... I guess because MR has come off as such a coward throughout the past two months that I can envision him trying to cover this up as a stranger abduction or disappearance rather than own up to a deadly accident happening on his watch. I don't know why, but this feels more likely to me than some pre-meditated killing.

As for what said accident may have been? I certainly don't know. Many things are possible-- did they struggle and Dylan sustained a head injury? Take a fall down the stairs? Play with a gun kept in the home? Die in his sleep? (Sounds ridiculous, but I have known children this has happened to due to an unknown heart condition).

None of this is based in fact, of course. Just my thoughts.

ETA: I guess some also think MR/family hiding a living Dylan is an option. I personally don't think this is at all likely.

There's a huge difference between Dylan dying in his sleep...and Dylan and Mark arguing, and Dylan sustaining a head injury. There second example is not an accident; it's manslaughter.

If this communication was NOT by his phone, but some other device, then he certainly had a way that he could have contacted his friend on Monday, if we was able to do so.

Yes, jjenny. It is complete speculation. Speculation based on the knowledge that ER had Dylan's phone records. She has always maintained that all communication by Dylan stopped around 8:00 p.m. To me, my opinion only, this means ER was unaware of the 9:37 text. To me, that means the text didn't show up on the phone bill or the record of calls. I find that stange and it leads me to make an inference that the text was not sent from Dylan's cell.

Just my interpretation. There may be other explanations that other posters will share.

Salem

I agree Salem. My main reason for believing the text probably was not sent from Dylan's cell is that ER was seemingly unaware of it all this time-- despite the fact that she would have full access to his phone records from the provider.

I said yesterday, & still think it is possible that this communication could have been to someone Dylan didn't really know. Via internet gaming or something-- explaining why we wouldn't have heard of this communication before from family/friends. Although I do agree with other posters that it may be that this communication was to a minor friend of Dylan's whose parents requested privacy.

The idea of this last text being sent to a girl love-interest definitely caught my attention as well because when I think back to that age, that is definitely a good reason for why Dylan may have gone to all the trouble of texting from an Ipod or computer. That kind of communication would have taken some thought-- ("my phone is kaput, but I gotta send a goodnight text to her! hmm.. how can I do this?").. but a thirteen-year-old boy wouldn't hesitate to go to the trouble if it was for a girl!

Yes, he could be charged with manslaughter. Doesn't mean he couldn't have killed Dylan accidentally. Although I do agree with the poster above, that if Dylan was killed it was probably not in the home.

If a text goes from his Ipod, where does it go on a bill?

Very good point!

I cannot grasp the idea of MR pre-planning a murder or abduction either. I think if he did do something it was an argument gone bad. It's hard to call something like that an accident, but I don't think this was intentional/premeditated/pre-planned at all.

The reason I think this text may have been from another device is because the news of it came out along with LE talking about evidence being returned, or something like that. They should have known the time of the last phone transaction two months ago. Maybe they did, but it seems like this info came to them later, IMO.

I think someone asked this question yesterday, but I didn't see anyone answer...

Is night fishing a possibility, or popular in the area? Although I'm sure it would have been extremely cold. Just thinking about the discussion that Dylan most likely did not die in the home because we are unaware the LE discovered any type of "crime scene" evidence or cadaver scent in the home.

I want to know if it is a possibility that Dylan & MR went "night fishing" at the reservoir and Dylan's died there on Sunday night?

Psychic Sleuth... you usually say exactly what I'm thinking-- but much more clearly! :rocker:

I know what he said... I am not necessarily taking every statement he made about Sunday night/Monday morning as fact.

I don't think it does. I would think the iPod would be needed to extract the info. It's wi/fi, so I don't believe you can track that without the device. JMO

Elaine did say that Dylan took his iPod with him. It was stated somewhere that an iPod was taken from MR's home by LE during the search. I assumed it was Dylan's but it could have been MR's.

Dylan's Mom made a statement about Dylan wanting a Smartphone for Christmas, and she was going to purchase it for him, the smartphone would have been able to record and replace the iPod so Dylan could have his music and cell all in one. The iPod if in fact does belong to Dylan would contain all the music Dylan loves to listen to, and being that he had a older model cell phone, the cell most likely didn't record music, so if that is Dylan's iPod they recovered at the Fathers house,

That would be a significant clue. Young teens, to adults love their music, and listening to their music either cell phone, or iPod, Dylan would not have left the iPod and taken off, there also should have been some type of headset to listen to the music, either still attached to the iPod, well it should be attached to the iPod that's the only way to listen to the music if I'm not mistaken, and their would be DNA to confirm its Dylan's, his iPod should have traveled with him, that could provide another clue, why it wasn't with him, and left behind.

Another day of Praying for Dylan's safe return !!

Good point and I think you are right. So how did LE track it? ty

Well, IMO, it wasn't an iTouch. For one, they are actually more expensive than a smartphone so I don't see the reasoning he would have that and not a smartphone. MOO

ETA: To clarify, the iTouch is more expensive than a smartphone if you get the smartphone through your service provider.

Respectfully, I disagree. Elaine knows that was not sent via his cell phone (just as it's been pointed out several times).

Dylan took his iPod with him. LE confiscated an iPod (which I'm assuming was sent to the crime lab) Shortly after getting the reports back from the CBI crime lab they release this info. MR also had a laptop that could have been used. We don't know if LE to his computer or not.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound "short". :blushing:

So, let me re-answer.

Mark said Dylan was tired from being up the night before; they really didn't have time to talk about the week; Dylan wanted to see his friends; they played football....even though he mentioned the fishing pole....I guess I don't see them going out and night fishing (Mark never even mentioned that this was something on their lists of things to do).

I have a very hard time believing every word that has came out of his mouth also. :seeya:
