Or reporter took a creative license with information released by the sheriff. It's like a game of broken telephone. We start off with electronic device communication and end up with text to friends.

the actual release is linked in this thread.

Sorry, misunderstood.

Imo, if LE had cleared MR already, then they would have told people not to hold their 'vigil' in his front yard. JMO

They haven't cleared him because they've admitted they don't have any solid evidence one way or the other.

They can't tell citizens not to hold a vigil or any other reasonable function on public property unless a permit is required and denied. It is doubtful a permit is required in such a 'country' locale.

Also, why would they discourage it if they admittedly don't have any major leads? I wouldn't.

I know this was talked about earlier in the thread...but I'm in Thailand so I'm always way behind when I wake up! Anyway I get super lazy and text my hubby from my ipad/laptop all the time....my phone is usually in my purse hanging by the front door and I am too lazy to get up and get it LOL

As far as iPod touches there are many ways to text with them as long as you have wifi. iMessage is free and part of the apple software. It is used to text between apple devices. There are also many texting apps that will give you a phone number....I have found none of these to be reliable, but when we first moved from the states to Bangkok I did use one quite regularly to text with family. I didn't like it, but in the beginning it was the best I had until I figured stuff out.

Don't we have a right to public assembly? As long as it's on public property and orderly and non-violent there's nothing the police can do.

Of course we have the right for public assembly.

But the way this came about, was that CR asked an investigator if it was alright for him to pressure his father, in order to get more information from him. And CR believes that he was given ' a green light.'

Imo, if the cops had cleared MR, they would have told CR not to bother. They would have said, let's focus on other avenues, imo.

I don't think they gave him 'a green light'. It's perfectly legal as long as they play by the rules, so LE really can't advise one way or the other.

If he has not been cleared, then why are you so adamant that he is innocent?

CR used the term 'green light' and seemed to be under the assumption he was given one. JMO

But I would hope LE's first "line of business" would be to clear the last person to see Dylan.

I'm sitting here thinking... do we know that this last communication from an electronic device was not something like.. (just throwing out possible examples)

logging onto a game he plays regularly?
Playing on xbox live?
"Liking" something on a social media site?
Commenting on something online?
Posting a picture somewhere?

I'm just trying to think outside the box. Wondering if there is any possibility we are taking the word "communication" too literally. As previously discussed, if it were a simple text sent from Dylan's cell, Elaine would have already known about this from cell records (rather than telling the media his last text was around 8). I know we have all discussed alternatives to a conventional text message already today.

When have I stated that he is innocent?

If any of us interpret the new evidence as something pointing towards MR's guilt, you label it as 'confirmation bias.' So I saw it as you thinking he is innocent.

Whch would be impossible without evidence.

katydid, I wish I could reply to your post to me, but I can't, because I just got smacked for doing what you did in your post. I don't want to get in trouble again. Sorry.

No one saw Jessica R. after her mom, but she was cleared before Jessica was found.

But LE cleared that up later. I think CR took it as 'a green light' because they didn't tell him 'no you can't do that'. It's legal as long as they don't block roads, go on private property or resort to violence etc.. LE would never advise someone to do this. JMHO

Confirmation bias suggests that one tends to mold his preconceptions to new information. Which is what is generally going on here. It doesn't mean that I think he is innocent. It means I think there is absolutely nothing thus far to suggest he is guilty. Everything that is going on here is not mere speculation - it is character assassination disguised as speculation.

IMO.

I know. Could this have been via a gaming site/video game console? I really know nothing about video games... but can't the players communicate via text while simultaneously playing?

I don't know.. not trying to push this point. :waitasec: Just trying to think beyond the idea of texting via provider's site or iPod since we have already discussed those options.
