If I can access any videos, I'd be happy to provide a transcript after the fact, if a transcript is unavailable.

So sweet of you, Jan. I don't know where we would all be without your organizational skills. Thank you!!! :seeya:

If the child made it to the home and got up in the morning, as the father states, then there would have been a text from him to one/more of his friends (i.e. sorry, I was tired and overslept, and when my dad gets home, I will be coming to see you). Period. Nothing else makes sense.

Sure it does. His phone eventually went dead that night, remember? He could have fallen asleep on the couch and not plugged it in. I've woken up late to a dead phone countless times after dosing off, and didn't have time to charge it until I got to work. He could have gotten up, saw how late he had made himself by sleeping in and not taking the early ride, hurried up and got dressed, ate a quick bowl of cereal while half-watching TV, grabbed his stuff and went on his way. His thought process could've been the same as mine is at times like this - I'll charge it when I get to where I'm going.

O/T - I have to go to a dinner tonight and can't be on until later, can you all talk real slow so I don't have too much reading to catch up!? TIA

Keep dreamin' lady!! :pillowfight2:

Went on his way? Where would he go? His friend moved around. Without contacting him, Dylan wouldn't even know where to go. He had no transportation either. He doesn't contact anyone asking for a ride. How was he going to get there? And where?

Huh? He had plans to be at a specific friend's house at a certain time and all we know is that he purportedly slept in and didn't leave when he had the chance.

Since he supposedly missed that time, why didn't he try to find out where his friend was going to be before supposed setting off to see his friend without transportation, and no longer knowing where his friend was going to be.

He had a land line so he could have used that and looked up the numbers in his cell by plugging it in the charger.

And why would he need to charge it? He could just plug it into the charger and use it immediately.

Why wouldn't he first contact his friends to say he overslept and was on his way? Especially if he was going to try and hitch a ride to town.

Also, he had a friend very close by in Vallecito. Why wouldn't he call him first and see if he was going to town that morning?

It makes no sense to compare yourself to a 12 yr old with no car. Sure, you can go ahead and charge your cell at work because you are going to drive yourself there. BIG DIFFERENCE imo.

He had an ipod, there is computer in the house, he could have plug his phone into the wall, these are things we know. If the cell coverage was so poor, there was also probably a land-line. It doesn't ring true to me he would not have called his friend the minute he woke up. I can't see him leaving for that journey w/o confirming that his friend would be there & he would want him to know not to leave; that he was coming.

No one has EVER verified Dylan's phone went "dead". That is an assumption on your part.<Mod Snip>

And his friend, RN, texted him and said " where r u" at 6:45. Then later that morning he texted Dylan to let him know he was leaving his grandmas and going to another friends house. By not reading his texts, Dylan wouldnt have known that.

It makes no sense that he would have left the house w/out trying to contact RN first, imo.

Ummm, my guess is that you are a bit older than 13, w/maybe a car??? And, you would not be required to tell a parent that you were, in fact, going somewhere???

If his phone was dead though he wouldn't be able to get the number and I know for a fact my son doesn't have his friends numbers memorized. We also don't know what kind of iPod he had.

He had a charger, so if it was dead, he just needed to plug it into the charger and he could retrieve the numbers he needed.

I mean dead as in kaput nothing a charger would fix.

Well, I don't know much, but I do know that I am not part of a 'hive'. In fact, if I did have a hive mentality, my life would be so much easier, and my family (mother, sister, cousins, etc...) would like me a lot more than they do currently.

And I'm taking my 6 year old to karate class....I'll miss the dialogue until much, much later. in a way, that's better. It'll help keep me in check!

We do?

I apologize to everyone because I know that I sound incredulous when I post. But, I just cannot understand how this is not clear-as-day to anyone looking @ it from an outsider's perspective. If this child woke up in the home, as dad says, he would have communicated with someone. That is the only reasonable conclusion...

Well it's not clear as day. I can totally see where you're coming from but I don't always go with the obvious. A lot of times that's not the case. I choose to have facts before I decide to rake someone over the coals and falsely accuse.

He had a computer with wifi. When my DD wanted to contact friends she would FaceBook them. It instantly goes to friends cell phones. Dylan could have used the computer or the i-pod. imo

Plus, if his cell was dead, I think he would have waited an hour or so for his dad to return. No 13 yr old is wanting to be on vacation in his old hometown with NO CELL. If he waits for dad he can get a new battery or a cheap replacement immediately.

If the phone was dead he would at least leave a note for dad saying his phone didnt work. And he probably would have called mom on the landline telling her he needed a new phone. My kids never waited more than a few minutes to call me and report theirs was broken/lost/dead.

It makes no sense at all for him to leave that house if his cell was dead. How was he going to figure out where his friends were or get any rides with no cell?

His dad had already 'gently nudged him awake' and promised to be back soon to pick him up. So if his cell was dead, why hurry out in the cold with no rides and no way to communicate? Why not wait a little bit and then get a new battery and a ride right to his friends front door?
