When my son was 4 I had to rush him to the hospital with a broken nose and broken arm. It was kind of my fault, as i had seen him and his friend jumping up and down on the couch, and I asked them to get down, but I continued what I was doing first, before I went in to get them down. And in that split second my son fell face first onto the coffee table and then onto the floor, landing on his twisted arm.

[ they had just come from a Bday Party at a kids gym where they were on trampolines and they had a lot of sugar and soda. So I should have realized he was going to pretend he was on a trampoline and do exactly what he did.]

Anyway, at the hospital they sent the social worker in to interview my DH and I because of his broken bones and his black eyes from the broken nose. He looked like he had been beaten up. And the poor kid kept telling the doctor that he 'fell off the trampoline.' But we don't have a trampoline so they were confused.

Anyway, I felt horrible and I felt really guilty. And so when the social worker looked me in the eyes and very seriously asked if I had anything to do with his injuries, I stammered and choked and paused awkwardly and my eyes welled up and I could barely answer the question. My DH looked at me with eyes as wide as saucers because he could hardly believe how poorly I was answering the question. I had already told him exactly what happened but now I was flubbing up this interview big time. Thank goodness we did not have any prior incidents or I probably would have been written up.

Eventually I gained better control and attempted to explain the situation, that he had been jumping on trampolines for a few hours, ate a lot of sugary treats on an empty stomach, then came home and treated the couch like a mini-trampoline. And she still looked at me sideways a bit, but she talked to my DS, who confirmed he fell from the couch. Which was hard for the doc to believe because his injuries were not from a fall. It was because he jumped and lunged and then fell face first.

Anyway, my point is, I believe that ER feels very guilty about sending her son on that trip. So when asked if she involved, she feels like she was, imo.

Thanks for sharing, Katydid. This is why I think there is a fine line with us lay people analyzing one's body language and reactions in media interviews. Not that it is not a helpful science, but it is often more complex than we make it out to be.

I'll tell you my take on that and smooth can correct me if I'm wrong.
ER looks like shes' hiding something because LE has possibly told her
something a real interesting tidbit about MR , perhaps and swore her
to secrecy to not say anything about it until the time is right. So
if that's the case, it might explain some of the strangeness of her
answers !

Moooooooooo , more cowbell !

Right On!

But, to be fair, it doesn't necessarily need to have been about her ex-husband specifically. But, yes, it would make perfect sense that she is being deceptive now - and not before - due to having knowledge that has recently been divulged to her in confidence. It would also make sense that, if she were coached by LE, it would interrupt her normal form of expression.

Just catching up some. I only saw a worried, frustrated, emotionally raw mother when looking at ER's interview. I think Smooth Operator is on to something in that ER is parsing her words and trying to hold back revealing her fears of what may have happened to Dylan. I believe those fears could be based solely on her own conclusions or based on information provided by LE.

I believe LE will not name MR as a POI. They want to keep communication open. We all know what happens when parents stop talking- Sky, Kyron, Baby Lisa, Hailey D. Ayla, etc.

I'm still of the opinion that the 9:37 communication could be R's incoming text. If something has been revealed to eliminate that possibility, I've overlooked it. I am still playing catch up. I saw something about MR saying that Dylan's cell phone was working fine? Could someone please point me to that?

I'm not convinced about MR's willingness to take another poly (if he's been asked or is asked). Some of the other things he's said he's willing to do- attend fund raisers, meet with a mediator- don't seem to get done through no fault of his own from what he says. All MOO

It's possible that someone could have strangled Dylan to death in Mark's home, then removed and disposed of his body somewhere else without leaving any forensic evidence of his death in the house.

Does that mean that Mark is the only one that could have done something like that? In my opinion, the answer is no.

Of course it's possible. We're not talking about rules of physics. But, is it probable? That's where we disagree, I suppose.

She appears to be saying that last message was on the cell phone also?

If the last text was on the cell phone and not the iPod, it makes me wonder if Mark has wifi in his home that would enable Dylan to text with his iPod.

I think we're talking about two different things here, but basically I agree with what you're saying. I did say that it might make sense to the criminal mind but not to normal people, like me.

OTOH, you're talking about forensic scientists figuring out what actually did happen and in what manner it happened, am I correct?

I don't think any of us can ever justify in our minds why a child has to die, or why someone would want to hurt them. That's basically what I was referring to, not to the scientific facts related to HOW it was done.

Correct. Sounds like we are in agreement.

Rules of physics? I'm not too worried about the odds of something being right or wrong, I like to base my opinion of someones guilt with facts. So far the facts leave me on the fence.

I'm not saying anything about believing or not believing her, I am talking about her reaction was off. It didn't set right with me, because her answers to other questions seemed normal and not contrived, especially when asked anything about Mark. She's just never displayed that kind of reaction before and that is what had me shocked.

Sending her son on the trip would not mean she was involved in his disappearance. The reporter was not asking her if she felt guilty because she let him go, she was asking her if she had anything at all to do with his missing, which I take to mean purposely. It should have been simple enough to answer without getting flustered and having to think for a moment before she answered. Mark did not hesitate, or stammer or stutter or take time to frame answers in his mind... he answered simply and directly. But if he had been the one to have that reaction, I bet that would have a lot of people up in the air, swearing up and down it proves he's guilty.

I'm sure RN only told Dylan to call and knock because he didn't want to be asleep and not wake up when he knocked. I just think this confirms that he was looking forward to seeing Dylan. Nothing more...

Well didnt he tell him to come around to the sliding door and knock?
He was going to let him that way!

Makes sense. I don't know if this father is complicit, and it is POSSIBLE that he is not. But, it is not probable with the facts as being presented currently.

Betraying rules of physics = not possible.

If this child had contacted someone - ANYONE - in the am before/after/during eating cereal and watching TV, then my concerns would be elsewhere.

Have any of you ever thought Elaine feels responsible for all this that she regrets every second
of every endless day she put her child on that plane and sent him to a man that used to hide his kids from their mothers. What a guy HUH?

Ellaine Redwine did not do this!

I guess what I am trying to say is her reaction isn't off if she feels guilty and partially responsible for the outcome.

The social worker was also asking me if I had anything to do with my son's injuries, and like you say, she meAnt PURPOSELY. But I couldn't help but react emotionally because in that moment, I felt somewhat responsible. Not purposely, but I could have and should have prevented it. And I bet Elaine feels the same way. Who wouldn't?

And you are right. Mark was smooth as silk. Not any stammers or glitches. Calm, cool, collected, nice smile throughout. Very slick job, imo.

I honestly do not think the LE tells outside people, civilians any earth shattering secrets when they are conducting an ongoing investigation. Think about it. Why would they. What would they have to gain?? LE does things with purpose and it's to get to the bottom of things. I doubt very seriously LE told ER anything that she was desperately fighting not to reveal. IMHO

Yep. No way she did anything to this child relating to the disappearance. This is a speculation where there really is no evidence nor is it probable given the known facts.

Even LE sometimes talk about cases, in diners, etc. Cory may have been told something he should not have been, or someone else overheard something and told him. It happens. Cops are people.

  • #980
So LE won't discuss polygraphs with the public via the media because it will affect their investigation, but they will give that confidential information to a 21 year old family member of the victim. Why?

I really doubt that LE would be giving sensitive info to family members on the proviso that they keep it quiet. Sounds very foolish to me - and if it has been the case it has certainly backfired here. It would be too hard for a civilian to sit on info and not drop little breadcrumbs while doing so many interviews, not to mention commenting on sites where emotion is running high.
