I sure hope the intent of this reporter and this tv station is to help find Dylan . If they get good ratings for the show, great ! But if they put this together merely for ratings and try to make a big public mudslinging fiasco out of it that answers nothing and leaves everyone in the MR or the ER camp, then shame on them. Its' developing a circus atmosphere to it and I don't like it a bit.

OTOH if the response to the story is big, perhaps other media will follow up and see that the folks in Colorado are still interested in finding out what happened to Dylan. It may turn into a wild, mudslinging carnival but today I feel like anything that gets Dylan's name and face out there is worth it. I'll be eating these words tomorrow...

On the promo I saw last night, there is a clip of the reporter asking Mark "did you have anything to do with Dylan's disappearance?" I wonder how he'll answer, probably more deflection.

I know not everyone has been following Dylan's case like we have but when I read severely inaccurate comments (the 9news facebook has people who are completely wrong), it makes me grumpy.

I'm very worried to that this story will just turn people off by making both parents look bad.

No but 2 months on I would of thought by now they knew she was not involved . I just think its Mark trying to pass the buck here . He is involved or its a random kidnapper :cow:

I agree that 2 months on LE should know who probably isn't invovled so it is very frustrating that they have not cleared anyone, and the closest they have come to clearing anyone is their statement that all known RSOs have been checked out. Makes me want to scream - does that mean they are cleared or just that they presented alibis that are being, or have been, checked out?

Frustrating. Goes round and round and round again. UGH!

I'm reading them too. What is up with someone comparing Dylan to balloon boy and getting 9 "likes"?

Can you link the news' facebook please?

Thanks,

Salem

PS - doesn't mean we can discuss comments, but we can read :)

I chalk this up to the cynicism of the public. No one wants to believe someting AWFUL could happen under their noses. Denial and cynicism. Far easier to believe in a hoax as opposed to creepy predators or murderous parents. If these people were actually paying attention to the news and all its gory details, they would know the world is full of such ills.

I hope both ER and MR aren't paying much attention to the pre-story promo. They were there, they were interviewed, all they should worry about is the magical spin of newsediting.

I am feeling that way already. I think it is going to make it look like some big, nasty custody issue, instead of an endangered missing child case. I think it could make people turn away from the case, if so.

No question this is being done for ratings, rather than to "find Dylan" as TV news stations are not really about to do stories for any other reason, IMO.

But the people of Denver just went through the Jessica Ridgeway case...plus Aurora...Columbine...JonBenet....I think they are perfectly aware that horrific things happen in the world. They know that parents kill children, and that children are killed by predators.

Did the parents of a missing Colorado teen make him disappear?

What a weird headline.

I personally think they do know who has and has not done what and they are just waiting for enough evidence to take the next step.

No kidding. I know ER wanted media, but does this sort of thing really help? i am not so sure.

It doesn't even make sense to me. Considering that 9News is waiting for Sweeps to start to air the interview, and is spending a couple of days to advertise it, it seems that they expect an increase in ratings for it. But telling their viewers there is a possibility that his PARENTS made him disappear...Why do they want people to think this is a custody battle? I mean, they just posted something new about Dylan and the first two comments are one word: "Parents".

Ugh, some idiot thinks Elaine and Cory are involved. -_- Her name is KR...ridiculous comment.

I do not know why they would think it a bigger/better story to lead with the idea of a parent having "hidden" him. Really? Just seems the total opposite would be true, if it is all about ratings. If I did not know about the case and just saw that headline, I would probably just skip it, personally. Custody battles happen every day.

At first I was really looking forward to this story. 9news is a popular news outlet in Colorado with a huge television and online audience. The attention for Dylan is wonderful. I'm just afraid from the headlines and angles that have come out of this as well as the brief interview snippets, the sensationalism is going to make this about a custody dispute or parent battle more so than a missing child who needs to be found! I hope it isn't the case, I hope the reporter gets a bit more out from LE and the search. I'm just feeling some dread in my stomach about sensationalizing the parent battle angle. :(
