Referring again to this exchange between R & Dylan, and again thinking about why MR (in the uncut video) said Dylan's friend was TRYING to text - - if the phone was actually shut OFF (bashed and/or thrown in the lake), or possibly it was just being held by MR so Dylan could not use it: I keep wondering if there was a point in this text conversation where the words were no longer coming from Dylan, but from MR. Any thoughts on this? For instance, why would Dylan say, "you better let me in", or "I call you all day if you don't".
Was this MR's way of predestining the scenario that Dylan would still be around the next day? I have always thought that the cell phone was no longer in the picture when the 9:27 incoming and 9:37 outgoing texts were made. Whether it was by ipod or MR's computer, is anyone's guess. And definitely an imo, I think that the recent 9:37 revelation was LE's way of letting the "suspect" know that they are onto this very possible scenario. And further, that is why they began their latest search in ditches and under bridges - not looking for Dylan but for that cell phone.

Someone was asking about night fishing on Vallecito, yes you can night fish. I tried to find out if MR had a boat, but was unable to find an answer. The lake requires a permit to put a boat on the water. MOO

That was me! Thanks for trying to get an answer. The only reason I asked about this was because if an accident or something happened while MR & DR were night fishing on the reservoir Sunday night, MR could have tried to cover it up by suggesting Dylan may have gone there & taken the fishing pole Monday morning. I don't think he would have placed himself there with Dylan if he knew Dylan's body to be in the reservoir.

But this is pure unfounded speculation and just a random idea I had.

ITA!

And I have linked a large case study a couple of times before that has 775 cases in it where a child had gone missing/abducted and was later found murdered. Out of those 775 solved cases only 14% of them involved parents. Parents tend to call 911 pretending the child had an accident at home and accidentally died then the AR tells LE its homicide. Or they will take the child and run off with them and the child is killed while the parent is on the run from LE.

42% of the time in those 775 cases it was done by someone known to the child such as an aquaintance, friend, neighbor etc. but 44% of the time the perpretrator was a stranger and unknown to the child.

And of course there have been cases where foul play was suspected due to the length of time the child had been missing and it turned out to be an accident.

So the possiblities are many.

IMO

BBM

Thanks for the info.

How many cases unsolved?

No, I think Ozgirl was referring to the recent 9.37 text thing.

Hehe 937 is the area code in Dayton, Ohio where I am originally from. The way it was written without punctuation made me do a double take, too!

Wow that must have been unnerving!

Yes, it was! When you have no idea where your children are, when or if they are ever coming home and LE looks at as a civil matter, it's beyond unnerving. That was all before cell phones and pagers too. I had no address for him, the only phone number he would provide was work.
He had previously threatened to take them as well. It was a mind game pure & simple.

I have to wonder whether they simply picked and chose what cases to include in their study. There are about 2000 children under age 12 killed every year, so were those 775 cases all from the same year? Or did they just choose random cases here and there? Like 20 cases from '11...50 cases form '10...30 cases from '08, etc. Because 14% killed by parents, and 44% killed by strangers....I don't buy it.

ETA: And as a member of WS, I rarely hear about a child being abducted and killed by a stranger. Yet I hear about plenty of unclaimed persons from the 90s....

What exactly did he have to say for himself when he brought them home? Was he smug, apologetic, angry (that you called the law)? How did you handle that the next time he had a scheduled visit? Is this something you feared often after that escapade? I just cannot imagine :furious: And if you'd rather not discuss it, I totally understand! I'm just trying to get an idea of his personality because even though it was a long time ago, we don't really change that much as the years go by....JMO and TIA

azgrandma, I would love to know your opinion of what has happened to Dylan...<modsnip>? Do you think it is possible someone has stashed Dylan? If you don't want to answer, I understand. I just keep wondering if this is really a plausible scenario.

RE the 9:37 pm addition to the timeline by LE

In all fairness I don't know that LE kept this secret. I think they may have just recently discovered it when they got their report back from the crime lab and LE did not show us the texts between RN and Dylan. Those came through the MSM and were provided by RN. I doubt LE would have ever shown us those.

Could be possible why MR keeps adding time to his story....

asleep early - didn't have time to plan the week
or watching movie til 10:30?
on couch texting....when Mark ran to bed....

which story is it????

According to www.klaaskids.org: 49% of child kidnappings were by family; 27% by acquaintences and 23% by strangers.

The study she was talking about was children who were abducted and later found murdered. Most parents who abduct their children don't kill them. MOO

Terrifying! Was he married at this point? Obviously don't have to answer if you don't want to. I was just wondering if Elaine always knew about this or if she is finding out some of this stuff about MR after Dylan went missing.

I hate to say it, but when someone is lying they tend to change their story as needed.

They also tend to not answer direct questions with direct answers such as times and exact details so they can leave themselves a little wiggle room.

Even if she didn't know about AZGrandma's children, MR took CR and Dylan for a couple of days as well and wouldn't tell her where they were. He has history of "taking" his children away from their mom's. JMO

His excuse was that it was a miscommunication. Hard to be that if he didn't communicate at all.
I never trusted him after that period. Actually I didn't trust him before that.

He also one time wanted them to visit in NC, he wanted me to drop them off at Stapleton International, but refused to tell me what time, what flight, what airline, when they would go, when they would return, IF anyone was flying with them, nothing. Supposedly his grandparents had the tickets and were going to meet me there. Under the advice of my attorney, (which wasn't needed because I had enough common sense) I did not take the children to the airport. He was p-o'd and couldn't understand, Stapleton was a HUGE airport and flights started leaving at around 5 am. I had no intention of sitting in an airport with two children waiting for someone to come at sometime to take them somewhere that I could not verify, to a state where I had no idea of a home address, a home phone, nothing other than he lived in NC. Call me stupid, a beyotch, but I wasn't going to do it. He took me to court and the judge agreed with me. The only flight after that was to Colo and was provided with all information needed and expected.

That my dear is called entitlement and control.

Yes he was. ER saw some of the challenges. I will say this, when you are young and dating, the guy is divorced and his ex is portrayed as a *****, you see arguements etc, you naturally believe that the ex is a ***** and your poor boyfriend has to deal with this ****.

Out of all the court battles, ER did attend some hearings but had to stay outside the courtroom, so she never heard what actually happened in there. There was one time that she was in court, it was for a charge against MR. At least I can only remember one.

I do know that much of what happened she was NOT aware of. He is very manipulative and it wasn't too hard for him to convince people that I had kidnapped the kids, they were not aware that we went to court for me to get permission to move to AZ. He was fully aware of it, but nobody else was.
