An LO brought this up yesterday and we both have no idea if this was discussed a million times already:

Why did Dylan have on his backpack at Walmart???

Could he already have been on his own at that point? Is there real proof positive that they even went to McDonald's together?

I've known kids that age who are pretty much never seen without their backpacks, especially boys since they can't really carry purses without getting laughed at. Backpacks are an easy way to keep your "stuff" with you. I can see that being important to a lot of kids but particularly one who's travelling and who's been through what seems to be a pretty difficult divorce when it comes to his parents.

Is it vindictive? My kids around his age would choose McDonalds over a sit down meal!

And I'm not sure about the timings, but perhaps Dylan turned down the idea of a sit down meal when it was mentioned, as maybe at that point he was still making plans to see his friends, so thought a drive-thou would be quicker.

Or if MR had already said it was too late to be going to see his friends, then perhaps Dylan preferred to just go back to his dad's and watch a dvd rather than sitting down and eating - esp as he'd had a long, busy day of travelling.

He wasn't still making plans to see his friends. That is very clear from the timing of text messages.

I have no idea who Misty Coslin and Deborah Bradley are so I'm lost.

Deborah Bradley is Baby Lisa Irwin's mom.
Highly suspect yet unable to prove. Lisa's been missing from her bed
for over a year. Misty Coslin, maybe Coughslin? IS the girlfriend who
was last seen with her boyfriend's daughter a little 3 yr old? I think who
vanished from her bed middle of the night without a trace. I think Misty
is now in jail on drug charges , but the baby 's never been found. These
two cases are almost certainly tied to one of these women but have never
been proven. As for Misty I think that's been probably about 3 yrs now.

Sorry Haleigh Cummings is the little girls' name. Sorry I could not remember.

OT sorry mods,, but missing kids who've NEVER been found and had very suspicious acting ADULTS last seen
with them who were never charged is on topic,,,,,,,imho! :P

I am holding my breath. And praying it's not Dylan. I'm on pins and needles right now.

It was described as that of an adult male. Dylan is not an adult male.

Below is the timeline and text messages between Ryan and Dylan,

According to a new timeline released by the investigators, Dylan arrived at the Durango airport at 5:46 p.m. on Nov. 18, the night before he vanished.

His dad took him to a nearby Walmart where he was captured by security cameras at 7:05. At 7:22, they stopped at the Durango McDonald's.

Dylan is 5 ft. tall & barely over 100 lbs. they are saying it is an adult male, so please don't worry, it is highly doubtful it is Dylan.

I hate how pessimistic I am about Dylan's case, but it seems to be slipping right into the "unresolved" file of missing kids we have here on WS. As with the others, LE can't determine if something happened to him where he was last said to be, or elsewhere. Just like Lisa, Ayla, Hailey, Haleigh, Joshua, Isabel and many others. And except for Ayla's mom, who was nowhere near the scene when her child vanished, the level of cooperation and/or outrage of the other parents has been at least questionable, IMO.

You know.....I put an entire baseball program together in my area for children with challenges. I was one of the first to do it in the US, and my program was the model for how it would be done throughout the US to the point the big wigs back in Williamsport, PA were learning from me to pass it along to other areas who wanted to implement the program.

That being said, I had to do a TV interview about it. I knew my stuff backwards and forwards. I had created it. But when the cameras went on, when the interviewer started asking questions, my mind went blank and the words came out all messed up, not at all like what I was trying to describe. I knew it right in my head but to rearrange it to answer the specific question, it didn't come out the right way. I felt I sounded like I didn't know what I was talking about.

When the cameras are on you, it's not a casual conversation where you can just talk. You are painfully aware the cameras are rolling. IME

BBM totally understand what you're saying. I've been on camera a few times for a few different reasons, and I went from coherent intelligent person to rambling crazy person in about 2 seconds. Funny thing is most recently I was interviewed for a TV story about 2 years ago and the reporter never told me they started filming. I thought they were still setting up lights and stuff and I was just chit-chatting with the reporter. Next thing I knew he was thanking me and we were done, and I was thinking "wait, what about the question part?" When it aired the story turned out pretty good and I had a number of people tell me how "not nervous" I looked. Ever since then I've noticed how people seem very nervous in some stories and not in others, and I think it has a lot to do with a reporter/crew's skill in making them feel comfortable.

I always wonder when I watch these news stories how many times the parents have been on camera, how nervous they are, how comfortable the reporter made them, if the cameras are kind of hidden or right in their face, etc. As to how this relates to Dylan's case... I wonder how much the reporter(s) are impacting how the interviews are coming across? Caveat, I haven't had the chance to watch the full uncut interviews in this case yet, but hope to do so shortly and I reserve the right to completely change my opinion. :)

I dont think Dylan made it there either!

Just a thought. Maybe Dylan's phone made it to MR's?:moo: If there was a ping there?

Are there any known adult men missing in Colorado? Does anyone know?

  • #392
Aaron Martin has been missing from Arvada, Colorado since the end of October. There are probably others but Aaron is the only one I can think of at the moment.

My biggest question is where was the phone pinging while Dylan and RN were texting starting at the 8:01 mark? Because I do believe that was Dylan texting. I believe Elaine said Dylan's last communication was 8:10 or so.
Any texts/communications etc after that MAY NOT have been Dylan. And yes the phone could have made it to MR's but Dylan didn't.

Completely agreed... Dylan's not one of those 13 year olds that looks like he could be 20, so I am really doubtful it's Dylan as well. I'm still really sad for the loved ones of whoever it is, though I'm hopeful it at least provides them some closure. :( (and please, please let it not be Dylan - even though I doubt it I'm certainly still worried!)

This timeline will give you an idea of where they were on Sunday and approximate times and questionable times.

Thanks. With all the speculation about how Mark drove a dead Dylan to CS and dumped him in his mother's back yard for revenge, I'm worried. I read about the db last night but didn't at all for one minute think it was Dylan.

I think most people would be shocked if they were able to read a written transcript of any conversation or interview that had just participated in. When you type your thoughts on a forum you have the luxury of stepping away and re-reading for continuity or errors, using your text editor or spell checker, repeated words etc.
Public speaking is an art, and we do judge people by how successfully they can pull it off. I thought even the reporter MB came off pretty poorly in the uncut videos and following transcripts, and she comes off completely differently in her on air news grabs - the luxury of newsroom editing!
I talk almost all day for a living in my classroom - put me in front of a camera or microphone and I sound totally different ... and not in a good way! One of our administrators frustrates the heck out of me when he runs our staff meetings - the constant "ums" and "ahs", "ya knows" and "and all thats" padding out everything he says :banghead: A written transcript would make anyone wonder how he made it to the position he is in. But he really doesn't speak like that in normal conversations - he's a funny, intelligent person to chat to!
:moo:

I don't think we can see a backpack on Dylan in the Walmart photo? The cctv grab where a floppy backpack is visible from the side is the shot from the Durango airport. Are people confusing the two pics? If anyone has a link to a clearer Walmart photo showing the backpack, could you please post it here - TIA :)

Totally agree. I tend to get a really foul mouth when I'm nervous, so my interview would be "um....F.....um...uh....F....uh what was the question?"

WoW I missed this particular theory being put forth and discussed.:furious:
