I don't believe there any lawyers, dentists or fortune tellers near MR's house.
It appears to be in the middle of nowhere.
I think that tipster is one of MR's neighbors-just guessing here, so don't ask for for a link, please.

Actually if you zoom in on this map where MR's house is there is a lot in that area.

Here is the campground at the end of the road. Although it states that it is closed Sept - May, look at all the recreational activities.

The whole area is full of recreational activities and would bring in a lot of people for that reason.

On Monday, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office investigators said they received a tip over the weekend from someone who remembered seeing a man in the north end of Vallecito the day Dylan was reported missing.

The tipster told investigators they were approached that day by a man who asked where he could find gasoline for his vehicle

Tipster is actually more than one person? A couple? Or reporter using "they" because we don't know if it's male or female.

The 9news video says LE is adamant that they will not release who called in the tip.

I assumed it was beause they didn't want to identify male/female. JMO

While I am very grateful if the tip is true, I can't help to wonder why in 7 weeks nothing was reported from this "tipster". He has had to seen the flyers all over town, reports on tv, billboards, restaurants putting up signs, rally's on the street.

I am hoping that it is true and this other person can be found.

The man said he was looking at rental properties and was asking where he could find gasoline for his vehicle

Remember early on (around the time of the search of MR's house) we were discussing the for sale sign across from the house (see in pictures)? I was hopeful that LE had spoken with all realtors/rental agencies in the area about people/hunters that were there during Dylan's disappearance....LE probably should have never ever treated Dylan's case as a runaway no matter what they were initially told by the reporting party.

I hope LE's silence in Dylan's disappearance has not kept other tips from being called in.

It's probably not important, but I don't like not having the facts straight. I wonder if the guy was looking for a place to rent, or if he was looking to buy a place as a rental property. :waitasec:

JMO, but maybe some people are very reluctant to speak to LE in general. This tipster may have been sitting on this info all along, and his conscience finally got to him.

From article...

Over this past weekend investigators interviewed someone who remembered seeing a man in the north end of Vallecito the day Dylan was reported missing.

They did say the interview was a direct result of information left on the tip line.

This only says the interview was done last weekend, not that the tip came in last weekend. Who knows when the initial tip came in?? :waitasec:

How about 3 months ago? I am really curious why this tipster came with this lead now. It's really is a long time to remember the exact day a Hispanic male asked for directions to find gas.
I will remember things that happened months ago on a whim. I will be like oh I forgot.. It is like it hits my brain again. Maybe there was something that was going on that day with the tipster and they where like oh, I remember such and such.

Yes, this person might have seen Mark putting what he thought was a rolled up carpet into his truck that morning, or a large 'package' wrapped in a tarp or trash bags.

It's critical this guy is found. Any little thing he may have seen could help.

Does Mark have a carpet or a tarp missing??

At least there is something that possibly is new that can lead LE in a direction. Hopefully this man will come forward and remember something that can help find Dylan. We've had pretty much nothing for over 2 months now. This is better than nothing whether it pans out or not. IMO

Well, I really don't think LE is taking 3 months to follow on what they consider credible tips.

Maybe not on purpose. I see all the time (on Dateline or 48 Hours Mystery, etc) where a tip gets buried and never followed up on until they go back over things. MOO

I can respect what your saying. I just feel that the only people that don't want to talk to any type of police are those that have something to hide or have a past that involves the police in some fashion. I don't personally believe a person would sit on info of a missing child's case this long just because they don't like to talk to the police. JMO

Police claim they received this tip over the weekend.
Yeah, saw that nursebeeme posted the link after I wrote, which is why I deleted my comment, so it will no longer be there in case anyone else is looking.

I agree, so much stuff during an investigation can get misplaced and forgotten, until all evidence, tips and etc.. Is gone back over..there are many cold cases that tips where misplaced and not followed up on.. Someone comes in just say fresh eyes and starts digging and goes was this followed up on and no one will remember.

Maybe he doesn't want protesters outside of his house, phone calls or his/her name all over the internet?

I was thinking maybe this person has a vacation home there and maybe he was questioned or something came to mind when he was there that weekend.
(he/she/they)

What I find possibly strange is the guy running out of gas. I would think if you were driving to the area for a reason you would make sure you had enough gas in your vehicle. Maybe this person appeared odd to the tipster.

eta: sorry I read your post out of context. I was thinking along the lines of the person not wanting their identity revealed.

Not saying this is the case here, but an illegal alien or someone who has had bad experiences with the police would have a hard time contacting the police for any reason. The former because they would not want to get deported, the latter because they think the police would think they had something to do with it. But maybe that is just where I live.

Interesting thought. He did re-arrange his furniture, right?

(I read that he said it in an interview recently, don't have a link but I know it's been linked in the past few days).
