this article has a little different info...lawdy...I hate it when the media differs on their accounts.

http://www.gazette.com/news/dylan-150911-police-potential.html

“They didn’t think anything of it at the time, but there was someone looking at rental properties on the same county road that Mark Redwine’s house is on the morning of Nov. 9,” Bender said.

Oh My...

If accurate... This sighting is narrowed down to a more specific lactation!

I meant location... But my iPad wanted to write LACTATION! :floorlaugh:

JMO but I think the PI did perhaps issue a press release that was picked up and I think we have to read very carefully from now on when the press use the term "investigator" did this or that. I think LE probably reluctantly responded on this one anyway.

OH gosh good luck on your exams tomorrow:woot:

Are you saying that the press release and the news articles complete with quotes from Bender actually came from the PI? I'm very tired tonight. I may be reading this wrong.

The La Plata County Sheriff's office is seeking a potential witness in the disappearance of Dylan Redwine.

The following is from a press release from the sheriff:

Perhaps I'm naive, but I don't think we should work so hard to dismiss the only real bone LE has thrown us.

Unless that man comes forward, we are not going to find him based on the description given.

Still not a thing posted by the admin on FMDR. This is one of the craziest things I've ever seen in a missing child case. Usually parents, especially mothers, jump all over the tiniest little tip. They're desperate to find their child, so they just jump on anything and everything. They'll spend thousands of dollars chasing tips, even from psychics. Phoenix Coldon's parents have now lost their home spending money on a bad PI to chase a shaky tip.

Now here's this tip, coming straight from LE, and not a single post on the official facebook. But they'll post to invite 10,000 to bash Mark about Dr Phil.

It just doesn't make sense. None. What a crazy case. I wonder where Dylan is.

I honestly don't understand it either. It seems to be that they are deliberating not posting it.

The curious might want to check out the FMDR FB before the weekend. I hope that is okay to say. If not, mods please delete.

If this Hispanic male looking for gas, but with no vehicle sighted, came out of and back into the woods, what would he be doing there? Is the private or public land? Is camping or hunting allowed in that area?

Why before the weekend?

So where is the closest gas station to Dylans home ?

It's posted in the comments, I assume posted by a visitor to the page? I have a hard time navigating FB. I only set up a fake account to be able to read there when following cases, and I've never got the hang of it.

Well, on FB page, if you are an admin you can make a main post. Those are the big posts you see when you go on the FB page. And if you are just someone who "liked" the page, then you can comment...and those are the comments you see on the side. So I find it strange that no admin has posted about this new tip. The person who posts with the "Find Missing Dylan Redwine" name is the admin. And I believe there is more than one person who is the admin, and can post with the FMDR name. I'll wait until I see what their next post is...but I just don't get why none of them have posted about the tip yet.

That doesn't negate the fact that this is the only bone LE has thrown us. Whether the man comes forward or not, or his identity is discovered independently or not discovered at all, it still gives a glimpse into LE's potential working theories and suspicions. If they were as singleminded as many appear to be, and worked nearly as hard as some folks do at dismissing theories that don't confirm their biases, then I suspect we wouldn't have been thrown that bone as it wouldn't have interested them enough to let us know.

Why before the weekend?

What I meant to say is the post of interest was posted before the weekend. I know that is vague, but I am trying to stay within the rules which I already am not sure I have.

I am not sure why you claim this is "the only bone." LE has released other info, albeit very little.

I think the average person needs specifics. Not everyone is accustomed to following crimes, or thinks what to look for, as we do here, JMO.

Good point, if they initially believe it is an abduction or even later, there is a standard list the FBI puts out so people basically can watch or consider their neighbors. That hasn't been done in this case, although the CBI & FBI are involved. I know I have seen this list in at least 3 cases but I am scratching my head on which cases. I will leave it up to my w/s friends please weigh in on those cases as it may shed some light on where investigators are going on this case.

Some of the items off the top of my head from the FBI list is & there is more than this:

Did someone miss work
Did someone suddenly start parking in the garage
Did someone change their appearance ex. grow a beard

(You know the list)

So what's for rent up there? Or what was for rent up there in November?
Any way to find out how near the nearest rental to MR's house was ?
A few doors down or miles away ?

I believe there was/is a For Sale.. Or For Rent ....sign right across the street from MR's house...

They have released a few facts - not insights into working theories. Well, other than to say that 'something either happened in the home or he was abducted' which really isn't a bone but a rather simple deduction. The potential discovery of a man who is not MR and who was in the area at the time in question - and apparently acting unusual enough as to stir someone's memory - is a fairly big deal.

“They didn’t think anything of it at the time, but there was someone looking at rental properties on the same county road that Mark Redwine’s house is on the morning of Nov. 19,” Bender said.

“That may not amount to anything, but it also gave us an opportunity” to ask anyone who may have seen anything unusual before or after Dylan disappeared to contact authorities, Bender said.

Bender said the "opportunity" statement. Yes, they have asked all the time for tips. But they have not asked for specifics - any strange behavior; missing work; tired; washing vehicle; different routine; etc. and I have never understood why not?

People need specifics as to things that might jog their memories.

JMO...thought it was an odd statement to make, that's all...

I need to point out that not everyone watches the news. Or network/cable TV. Because I don't. If I didn't go to Websleuths, I would have no idea about Dylan Redwine, no matter where I lived, unless I personally knew the family. Just saying, not everyone has a clue what is happening down the street all the time. There are a few of us out there.

sorry mods

So if you didn't go on WS, you would not know about Newtown, Hurricane Sandy, Aurora, Penn State scandal, etc? I'm assuming if the event is big enough, and the coverage massive enough, you would hear about it even without WS, right?

But if you don't read/watch/follow the news...how are they suppose to reach you? And why should they go out of their way to reach people who don't follow the news? If the Denver media had talked about Dylan every day for the past three months, every newspaper, every TV station...that would probably make like 98% of the Denver area know the name Dylan Redwine. And yeah, there will be some people who still won't the know the case, but if it is getting widespread, and even excessive coverage, what more can you do?

I read in one of the articles they mentioned morning. If this person did not live in the area or only had a vacation spot in that area, then they may be more likely to remember the date they were there. Or, maybe they were showing a rental property.

I have not seen that. Can you post a link to the article?

(I always feel bad asking for a link, so please know, I only do it when I cannot find the info myself.) :seeya:
