That someone might take a while to contact the police with a tip because they have no idea that someone is missing or what day they might have been missing. Since that is what we have been posting about.OK? And the point would be?

I need to point out that not everyone watches the news. Or network/cable TV. Because I don't. If I didn't go to Websleuths, I would have no idea about Dylan Redwine, no matter where I lived, unless I personally knew the family. Just saying, not everyone has a clue what is happening down the street all the time. There are a few of us out there.

" What I am trying to figure out is how did MO the PI know about this tip before it was even called in to LE over the weekend? He posted on the FMDR page prior to the weekend that there was a hispanic male seen by MR's house early in the morning hours of the 19th that LE was looking for. Hmmm...how would he know this prior to LE knowing this? My hinky meter is running..."
Before I reply, I would like to say thank you to all of the amazing people who contribute to this forum. You are truly impressive. This is my first post. Hence, I will show my ignorance, no doubt. I tried to use the quote button, but my computer is quite old. It forgets that I am logged in.
What if MO spoke to someone who told him that they had given a tip to LE about a Hispanic man in the area "hiding in the bushes." I believe MO said. MO felt it was a significant tip and decided to make it public. LE did not deny the tip IIRC, they simply said they had not had any contact with MO. So the tip could have been on their books, but not significant to LE, until... What if MO's statement jogged the memory of a person or couple who had contact with a Hispanic man on the 19th? Then they called in their tip. LE took notice. JMO (such as it is.)
I am sorry you have problems with dates. Not everyone has problems with dates, though and typos happen to reporters, too. Then how would this person know the exact date they saw this hispanic male?
No way would I remember the exact date I saw somebody if it was almost 3 months ago (unless I wrote it down somewhere). Even reporter seems to have gotten the date wrong in one of the articles.
Actually, I know nothing about the items you mentioned. Seriously. I would have to go look them up. If it is important enough to my family or one of my friends to have seen or followed up on, they might mention it to me and I would know, but other than that, nope. So that is my point. Unless someone comes door to door, they don't reach me. And if I saw something that might have mattered, I would have no idea I should mention it to anyone. Believe it or not, I am not the only person this way, although we are in the minority. So if you didn't go on WS, you would not know about Newtown, Hurricane Sandy, Aurora, Penn State scandal, etc? I'm assuming if the event is big enough, and the coverage massive enough, you would hear about it even without WS, right?
But if you don't read/watch/follow the news...how are they suppose to reach you? And why should they go out of their way to reach people who don't follow the news? If the Denver media had talked about Dylan every day for the past three months, every newspaper, every TV station...that would probably make like 98% of the Denver area know the name Dylan Redwine. And yeah, there will be some people who still won't the know the case, but if it is getting widespread, and even excessive coverage, what more can you do?

Some people posting here seem to think that if LE asked about anything strange back in November and/or December, anyone who knew anything should have responded then, why did they wait so long? I am pointing out that there are people out there who might not contact the police for any given amount of time because they don't know they need to. If LE did not go door to door, they could be missing out on some leads. That is what more they could do, if they have not yet done so.
I have not seen that. Can you post a link to the article?
(I always feel bad asking for a link, so please know, I only do it when I cannot find the info myself.) :seeya:
They didnt think anything of it at the time, but there was someone looking at rental properties on the same county road that Mark Redwines house is on the morning of Nov. 19, Bender said.
Well, I do not understand at all why people in 2012, who own televisions and the Internet, would choose to live that way. It just seems like a strange thing to be proud of. The Newtown shooting was named the #1 story of 2012, with 26 people dead, 20 of them being little kids. I find it very sad that you know nothing about it, or the other events I mentioned. So unless you actually googled 9/11, you would know nothing about it? Or is there an exception for an event on that big of a scale?
ETA: You say that you "know nothing" about the events I mentioned and you would have to look them up. So you've never even heard of them? Okay. I don't really get posting on an Internet forum, but also claiming that you don't know what Newtown, Aurora, Hurricane Sandy, or Penn State scandal are, especially when 3/4 of those events are crime cases, and this is a crime forum.
And going door-to-door is not an option in heavily populated areas. How far out do you go? Is LE suppose to go door-to-door to thousands or tens of thousands of homes, to reach that one person who didn't know we went to war against Iraq and Afghanistan?

I say your post earlier and went and found the article. When I came back, I couldn't find your post anymore. I don't know what the heck happened. :floorlaugh:

That may not amount to anything, but it also gave us an opportunity to ask anyone who may have seen anything unusual before or after Dylan disappeared to contact authorities, Bender said.

Bender said the "opportunity" statement. Yes, they have asked all the time for tips. But they have not asked for specifics - any strange behavior; missing work; tired; washing vehicle; different routine; etc. and I have never understood why not?
People need specifics as to things that might jog their memories.
JMO...thought it was an odd statement to make, that's all...
So what's for rent up there? Or what was for rent up there in November?
Any way to find out how near the nearest rental to MR's house was ?
A few doors down or miles away ?
there is rental/sale property right across the street from Mark"s house
we don't know when the tip was left, etc etc
It sort of reminds me of how they released the car info in the Sierra LaMar case after a long lull in the case.
Glad to see that tips still continue to come in nevertheless
There were those way back early on who thought the house for sale could be a clue. It's easy for me to envision someone knocking on Redwine's door to inquire something like "do you know who owns it? do you know whether they would rent it? just which house is it on that road? is that road maintained by the town? what schools does this neighborhood feed?"...ad nauseum
It's my experience, having been a neighbor to a real estate sign, that people DO often speak to neighbors prior to contacting the realtor.
It's possible that the inquiry stopped right there at Redwine's and the house was never shown to anyone.
