As far as this mystery man being the perp, why attract attention to himself? Coming and going via the woods?

But presumably, those woods will be searched.

  • #262
Police say the hispanic male is not the perp but a potential witness.

I would think the owners of the house across street had been interviewed long ago and if they had shown this to a guy would have said so ? Maybe not .

Why wouldn't they have said so?

•Where was this Hispanic males car?
•Why doesn't the tipster have a description of a car?
•Did the man run out of gas while searching for rental properties and was walking?

None of these questions have been addressed by LE or the media. Surely if the tipster had seen a car he would have some kind of description. Maybe this Hispanic male was walking because he ran out of gas, but this tidbit has not been asked or answered by LE.

Presumably the tipster didn't see car because person run out of gas and left car somewhere while go looking for gas. This a really long time to phone in a tip, by the way. I have no clue how anybody is supposed to find this hispanic male based on description given.

10 news story about the new tip on Google News, and still nothing on FMDR. Very bizarre.

I know right. That page has gone radio silent. It's almost as if they are in shock?

( you never know when one tip can bust a case wide open)

If he was really there looking for rentals, maybe he follows the local papers and will see the story. That is about all I can think of, as far as him coming forward on so little information.

Exactly, we can only presume he ran out of gas because LE nor the media have stated he ran out of gas. Odd. Why has no one specifically said the Hispanic male ran out of gas while looking for rental properties? Also, what came of this conversation with the Hispanic male and the tipster? Did the tipster give him a ride or point him in a specific location? In my opinion, LE is holding back some details.

I don't think LE is holding back details. I don't think tipster gave this supposed hispanic male a ride anywhere-why would LE hold this back? Why would they specifically say hispanic male run out of gas? They can only report what tipster told them. They are not going to make up the missing details. Again, this was a long time ago. I am surprise the tipster remembers anything at all (and that is assuming the tipster remembers it accurately).

Maybe this guy was just driving by different rentals to check them out from the outside before contacting the rental agent. I f all the rental agents were checked out by LE to see if they showed the house and they didn't, that would get them nowhere. I would think that most people looking at rentals would do so on a Sunday rather than a monday when most people work. I hope this leads somewhere but I am doubtful.

http://www.stgeorgeutah.com/news/ar...an-redwine-criminal-investigation-new-photos/

If you notice the link I posted above, there's a large mailbox, and two regular size mailboxes next to each other, and further to the right there appears to be some type of wooden structure that could indicate a third mailbox, so the dirt driveway leads to at least two houses with a possibility of a third, so even if the house for sale / lease is vacant, the other may or may not be occupied.

If you notice the other pic in front of the Fathers house, his mailbox is attached to a pole sitting in a five gallon bucket in front of the truck, so there's mail delivery on both sides of the street.

I didn't realize that Safley Rd. intersects right there in front of MR's house. Here is what zillow shows around that area. There is one house that just sold and one for sale on Safley. http://www.zillow.com/homes/safley-rd-bayfield-co_rb/

A lot of people rent homes that are for sale, or this person could have been looking for investment property for rental purposes. It looks like in this area, a lot of homes are bought by investors to rent.

I hope that all empty properties were extensively searched. This has reminded me so much of Sierra Lamar in many different ways, as another poster noted above.

eta: I don't know what happened but when I posted the link the data showed different than what I was seeing. If you zoom out a couple times it will give you more information of the area.

Just because he was looking for gas doesn't necessarily mean he ran out of gas. A leap, yes. But gas can be used for more than filling a car tank. I find it odd that we have not been told what happened after the initial meeting between the two. If he wasn't given a ride and he continued walking, what direction did he start walking? Did he take off walking in the direction of MR's home? It would be helpful to know. I'm assuming the Hispanic male didn't have a phone or couldn't get a signal to call someone if he ran out of gas. A lot of questions.

ETA - I don't think LE is going to make up details, I think they're holding back details.

True. But that may change if LE gets a chance to interview him. MOO.

The area also appears to be a good location for RSO's to settle down and find a home within their probation terms.

I don't gather that they are in shock. IMO they knew about this 'tip' prior to the tipster calling it in to LE. I think they think it's all bogus. JMO

And my hinky meter is running also...

I know many are excited about this new tip but I won't be surprised if it amounts to nothing. I'm not saying it doesn't need to be checked out. I'm just worried about the source of this information.

Assuming he exists to begin with, we have a description of hispanic male, average height and weight, and with dark hair.
And almost three months after the fact.
Doesn't sound promising that this person can be found based on the description given (again, assuming he exists to begin with).

Well, if I ran out of gas that far from a gas station, I would ask neighbors if they had any for their lawnmower, etc. that I could buy. He could have been cutting through from the houses back on Safley. If these house are rented short term, someone would have to go in and clean or if they are sitting empty and for sale maintenance needs to be done.

Did he run out of gas for his car or something else? They tipster may have given a description of what he remembers but the how much detail was the tipster told or did the tipster just assume that the gas was needed for a "car" and that he was "looking" at rentals. How good of english did the person speak? Could he have been working on the house and sleeping there? They need to talk to the people that own or owned, or managed the vacant properties, for sale properties and rentals in that area.

They need to extensively search that whole area with the new dogs again, as well.

I don't know how much details the tipster gave. One imagines not many because, again, this is almost three months later.
And I can't help but wonder why the tip was send in now as opposed to early on, when the memory would be fresh.
The article says the tipster didn't think much of it at the time. O'key. Why do they think much of it now?
