Oh, I respect them also. But like I said I wonder WHERE they will start their search
by Mark's house
the lake
McDonalds
Florida Road
or
totally some place not previously searched??

I have often wondered why they never (if they did, not aware of it) searched east/northeast of the lake.

I hope eventually they get to all of the above? I know they talked to both Elaine and MR to get ideas of where to search. It's still unclear to me if they talked to LE or got any suggestions from them? I don't know if they would divulge to her where last pings on Dylan's phone were but I would think that might be a good area to start.

I have a question for anyone more familiar with dogs/scenting...

If DR was inside a vehicle, and lets use the scenario where MR/DR left McDonalds in the vehicle, would a dog (any dog) be able to still track the scent down the road they travelled?

TIA

Guys, I don't think we should attack other posters or ask them about their lives.. Just FYI..hugs

I'm no expert by any means, but no I don't believe they can track a person travelling in a vehicle.

Do you know if this team has met with LE or are they going it alone?

I think it depends on the dog and the vehicle. If the windows were closed, vents closed and the vehicle is pretty airtight, it wouldn't be easy. I don't know what, if anything, they could track from 3 months ago. I'm guessing they're expecting more from the cadaver dogs than the trackers. MOO (I'm not a dog expert, but I did read that not long ago.

I have heard of "some" cases when those tracking dogs were able to follow a vehicle several miles. Not sure if that was immediately following an incident and please don't ask me for a link. Just something I've read. I also heard of some cases when the dogs were able to locate a body years after the investigation went cold. The dogs are amazing. I never under estimate what they are able to do! :rocker:

I've heard of dogs tracking a scent from a vehicle before, I'm pretty sure, for a distance of a mile one time on a freeway....not sure about after all this time, I would think unlikely.

JMO, I would think maybe LE would have some type of presence just in case something is found. At least I hope they would be there

I do know cadaver dogs can find bodies after many many years. Scent dogs are different. I agree that mostly the k9 team will be using the cadaver dogs at this point in the game. I believe Wendy made that clear to the family.

I have no background in LE, nor do I know anyone in LE. Do you think with the inconsistencies, LE would maybe bring him back in for another in-depth interview? Does the fact they haven't done this yet point to maybe they are satisfied with what he's told them already? I'm honestly curious. I obviously watch way too many ID shows, but it seems they will bring a POI back in to go over the story again, especially after learning of any inconsistencies.

I think they are watching him closely instead.

Maybe this will answer scent questions

http://www.vsrda.org/about-vsrda/using-air-scent-dogs
Just a snip from the above

Search and rescue dogs are of less use in searches:
*

in urban areas, especially areas with crowds or heavy vehicle traffic.
in steep terrain requiring frequent scrambling or climbing.

I don't know that they will have someone actually physically there but they know about contaminating evidence and what to do. They would surely call LE right away if there are any hits.

Was there any updates on the search

What makes you think the episode will be ratings gold? Or why do you think the producers think the episode will be ratings gold? Most people have never heard of this case, so why would there be a huge increase in viewers to hear what the family has to say? Even if people see the promos, and see people arguing, is that really going to bring in significantly more viewers than Dr. Phil normally gets? I really don't think the Dr. Phil show booked the family for "ratings gold" unlike say, George and Cindy Anthony, in which I think the producers fully expected to see a significant increase in ratings for their episode. I think the episode will be expected to bring in around the same # of viewers that Dr. Phil always does.

I think the promos that will play during the daytime will make the Y&R, B&B, and The Talk watchers salivate. Yes, I know the CBS schedule. I'm a SAHM and I watch these shows. Although I typically switch over to Friends when Dr. Poo comes on.

I'm sorry. That isn't accurate. He hasn't been named a POI. LE has not cleared him, nor have they said he isn't a suspect. But that doesn't mean he isn't one. Huge difference.

MOO

No one has been cleared though, right?

I love your pleasant posts to tell us to STFU and be nice. :)
