For a perp to "lure" Dylan via internet communication, there would be a record. LE would know if this occurred and the investigation would have progressed in an entirely different direction that it has. SOP

:moo:

Since data from LE has not been forthcoming, we do not know the direction the investigation has taken.

I would certainly hope they did. By that time they had ruled out his being a runaway, so I would think looking closely for any sign of foul play, no matter how small, would be SOP. I can't imagine them not moving the furniture, rugs, etc. to make sure no stains or other signs of a crime weren't being hidden by them.

While watching the uncut interview with Dylan's Father, he commented about the blankets Dylan supposedly used that night, were still laying on the couch,

Why would they have not been collected as evidence, Law Enforcement decided they were of zero significance, or were they never aware of the blankets.

Some people may not realize that online gaming communication is not just passing text messages, it is also voice conversations that are not recorded and what is said cannot be retrieved in anyway that I am aware. They could see who he grouped up with but not what was said in those voice chat conversations. IMO

A good question to ask would be, did Dylan use a headset for voice chat when he played video games?

I believe that specific interview was done prior to the forensic search of his house. I'll have to go back and double check though.

Just speaking from personal experience, but what you are seeing is NOT SOP in a case involving a perp, especially an internet perp. It's also fairly evident when Bender himself, has stated they really have no idea what happened to Dylan. If it was an internet perp, he wouldn't have made that statement. LE doesn't like the public to know they are stumped...especially if they have other things to go on.

I just cannot buy an internet predator in Dylan's case. They have taken all laptops, pc's etc and gone through them . If they felt he had run into one, they would be telling the public and asking for help. I cannot imagine them keeping that quiet. JMO

What all of the above just said as I was typing :)

When the FBI becomes involved in missing children cases, data is not released.

U/C BM...exactly!! look what we found (FBI forensics team)

wonder when the furniture was changed...if it was done prior to the FBI search warrent..

would local LE have even taken pics on their very initial walk thru
what's SOP for that

?

Wow! That thought had not even occurred to me. If that were the case, LE must have been interested to hear that the furniture was in a different place the night Dylan was there. Also had not thought about the other possibility mentioned previously. LE possibly moved everything at the time of the search and leaving it scattered. So it could be something as simple as MR having put it back differently.

Maybe I'm a bit touchy about this subject, but LE/CBI/FBI are trained, educated and dedicated. They are well aware of all technology available to perps...and have the resources to delve deep into this technology. I really don't understand how anyone can dismiss them as incompetent in these cases...which is what I'm seeing here. They know much, much more than anyone is giving them credit for knowing. I know there are some intelligent minds here, but rest assured, LE does this for a living. Every day. They are EXPERTS and probably know more about how to investigate a case than anyone. JMO

The interview was weeks after, I'm thinking Law Enforcement served the search warrant 10 days after Dylan's disappearance.

Sometimes not, sometime yes. But the SOP remains the same. This case never was and continues not to be headed in that direction. If it was, we would know. JMO

I think I read something very similar to this today, I'll have to try to find the link. Apparently, MR had to tell someone to let LE do their jobs rather than interfere with their process.

Don't be so sure. A major sting operation/rescue mission could be in process.

So happy the K-9 team will be looking for Dylan on Sunday.

STOP fighting and bickering in here. All opinions and theories are welcome. If you don't want to participate, that's fine. Move past the posts or move on to another thread.

BUT don't tell others to "take a break" or that their speculation is "off-topic" or imply that others may ONLY discuss what you want them to discuss.

Be kind to each other, a child is lost and he needs to be found and bickering and attacking do nothing to reach that common goal.

I don't know that he left home on his own because I don't know where he and his friend were playing video games. Do you?

He was home, I believe his friend was in his own home, you dont have to be together to play games on line. His mom woke up and found him gone.

The video game communication situation has always been in the back of my mind relative to Dylan. I personally know someone who has a teenage grandson who has gotten 2 "girlfriends" this way. One from Philadelphia and one from New Jersey. Both came to NC to visit the naive boy!

Can you link the interview, please? I cannot find it in the media thread and my attention span is that of a gnat. :)
