To me, it looks like a coffee cup, but it does look like there's a cable connected to it. It might just be a cable box for the tv (when I had a tv & cable there was a small box like that for a bunch of religious channels or something.)

Just looks like an electrical cord that has an on/off switch in the middle of it. Don't know. jmo

Interesting but I think the phone has to have GPS enabled for a game/app to utilize it like this. As we know, Dylan's phone was not equipped with GPS. I've always been a fan of "Shut off the GPS" so as to avoid crap like this. dylan has made me look at GPS phones a bit differently. No easy answers!

What's scarier is my GPS WAS shut off, mostly for battery reasons. I have no idea how it tracked where I was, but I did find an option to turn off the ability to allow others to see my location and it's been ok since then. It upsets me a lot to think that kids have this so-called 'feature' and their parents might not even know they have it, or the kids wouldn't know how to handle it if someone contacted them. I think I recall reading that Dylan's phone was older, so this whole line of thinking might be irrelevant, but it's popped into my mind a few times.

It is a rounded shape like a coffee mug. To me it also looks like the laptop has a second cable that could be running directly to the television. It seems to be a male thing, but I have known quite a few who have their laptops hooked up this way. Then they stream directly to the larger screen - good for games and watching movies etc. My son does this too, though his laptop is connected to a larger monitor rather than a tv.
In my experience if someone has a modem and/or laptop without wireless capabilities, an ethernet cable is used to connect the two, and ethernet cables are generally coloured rather than black. Every modem I have ever purchased has come with a yellow ethernet cable - even if you buy modem to use wirelessly throughout the house, you generally have to use the ethernet cable on one computer at least during the first instance during the set up process.
FWIW I am one of those "strange" folk discussed a week or so ago who never watches live television at all, but I am an avid viewer of my favourite shows online on my laptop while perched in bed each evening.

Was just about to post the same thing. I am not questioning this, but, how do we know the furniture has been rearranged? jmo

Excellent question.

Here is the quote from the video:
You know, in one place he might be he can’t get service and then he could take a step to the left or a step to the right and voila all of a sudden he has service, and the two places he told me he could get service was from the corner of the couch where he was sitting, which has been changed, but right by the TV there, and my room.

Something "changed" but maybe we can't say exactly what it was that was changed. Good catch. IMO

I have never seen a modem that looked like that. It could be a sentsy or candle and not related to cable/internet at all. jmo

I'm unable to look back, but the pics showing the front of the house, i believe had a small Satellite dish mounted. It's possible he's receiving Dish or Direct tv.
Most Rural areas, That's your only option, And if I'm not mistaken, you can also receive Internet thru them.

The Father being a Truck Driver, and being gone the majority of time, may have a cellular card, so he can surf the Internet using a Laptop computer while away from home, He could also use the cellular card to receive internet when he's home,
So really there would be know reason to have cable Internet, if its provided in that rural area, or Satellite Internet.

AZGrandma,

I read an interesting post on the Official FMDR page and have a question for you.

Just paraphrasing here, but previously, someone on WS said/speculated it was MR who had to pay ER for child support until September of this year... do you know if it was actually the other way around?

Can you confirm whether or not MR actually lost child support at that Sept. hearing and then in November Dylan goes mysteriously missing on his first court ordered visitation with MR?

Thanks

Yes, actually ER was paying child support all along and there was a point when MR wasn't too happy (IMO) that he didn't get everything in their divorce. He ended up taking it to the court of appeals. That was in 2010
ER was ordered to pay him c/s even though back then he wasn't seeing the boys that often. His work history and income wasn't very good at all. In Sept he lost all child support.

In the latest MR interview video, the sofa is on the wall (where the TV is in this current screen shot).

It could also be a DVD player? MR did say that it needed to be brought down from upstairs. One plug to outlet and other connection to TV?

I saw that.
I know we're not allowed to discuss "rumors" here, but reflecting back to MR's own comments about how ER was so "focused" on her career and how he was so "close" to Dylan and she wasn't, this information wouldn't surprise me what-so-ever. The official FB page has made several comments pertaining to MR rarely using his visitation rights and also about ER having to be the family bread-winner.
Wondering....maybe AZgrandma could tell us whether MR worked when they were married? Or was she the primary bread-winner in that family?

:moo:

We both worked back then. But, an interesting thing, after the divorce, when I was going the police academy, he said that he had to move to NC for employment (necessary) and my zero income was voluntary. Fortunately after his former boss testified on my behalf that he was was given an option of quitting or being fired, the judge disagreed stating that my zero income was temporary and for the betterment of the children. (the zero income determined who paid how much for travel & medical, not any impact on c/s)

I wonder how much it has to do with the game/app itself. I've had an ipad for about 8 months or so now, and am wary every time I download a new app when it asks me if it can send me "push" notifications, or use my location. I always click no. I have discovered over the years that most of us are unaware of all the settings we need to tweak when using technology or appearing online in some form - either by phone, tablet or computer. I also think we underestimate the resourcefulness of criminals who see the same technology as wonderful avenue for sourcing new victims.

Thanks for posting. b&ubm This is scary!

Yes, it is scary for sure! I thought the whole thing was a hoax or I accidentally downloaded a virus or something until the map showed my location in our friends' driveway and it was spot on. I even double checked to make sure the GPS was off. It scares the heck out of me that kids have access to this type of thing and even the kids probably don't know it until they hear from a new 'friend', whether it's via phone, iPod, game system, etc. Scares me even more to think predators DO know how easy it is to reach kids this way.

I trust that LE and the FBI are probably completely on top of this possibility and I have no idea if it's even relevant to Dylan going missing, just seems like one possibility.

That screen shot is from the latest interview (with MB). He has two sofas in that small space.
And I see the corner of the stove, so it's living room/kitchen combo.

I apologize, actually that's incorrect - since this WAS a screenshot of the latest interview :what:

Now I have to figure out where I saw another photo of the that room :banghead:

I wonder how many parents keep that feature turned on so they know where their kids are without thinking about who else could find them through it. MOO

I don't know MR at all of course, but I do think I know the "type" he might be. These men play it tough on the outside, vulnerable on the inside. They reveal just enough of their insecurities to excuse broken promises, angry outbursts and macho posturing. Women who are strong and independent are the most susceptible because they believe with a little patience and hard work, they can "fix things." All MOO.

Trying to catch up, but I think it was NC that asked if we both worked, there was a time that I didn't - 3 children under 4 yo. He said that I was lucky to be able to have such a supportive husband so I could stay home with the kids. I told him he was lucky to have a supportive wife so he could go to work, because there was no way he could afford to pay someone to do all the stuff I did for free.

We had the wine & roses periods, it was about every 3 mths, an abusive agruement, followed by the promises, the wine, the roses etc. I called it a movie marriage, we acted like we had the perfect marriage until we couldn't act anymore.

Yep - at just after 14:00 on the interview, it shows a wide angle view of the room.

But as MR is describing where Dylan slept, he gestured over to the other side of the room, and said the furniture had been moved. I'll see if I can find the other photo before the furniture was rearranged.

Regarding the type of computer MR has, here is a screen grab from his uncut interview. The black item beside the TV stand that appears to be plugged into a small black box on top of the TV stand looks like a laptop computer to me. Perhaps someone local to the area who knows about internet connections would know what the small black box on the TV is. Is it an internet modem?

Supposedly this is the area where the couch was the night Dylan supposedly slept on it?

Thanks so much for the still picture, Kamille!!

It looks like a laptop to me. My kids always hook up their laptops via the TV to watch movies, etc., but I don't have a clue how....LOL

I have a big favor to ask....can you do a still shot of the table with the gun?
Also, I was wonder about the little hall with the 2 doors (to the right of gun area).....THANKS!!

JMO, and no evidence of course, but I don't think Dylan is the victim of an online predator. That would be one of the easiest things for LE to determine and they seem to be at a total loss as to what happened to him, IMO.

Looks like it could be a little speaker. At least,I have one that looks like that.

That small device could also be a hotspot wifi device, They sell them at Walmart and of course any cellular type store. You purchase the amount you want, MB/ GB or unlimited. And that small device would allow other devices to receive wifi signals. It's even possible that's the best spot for picking up cell phone reception in the house. Dylan could have used an iPod touch, and received Internet.
