If I had not read AzGrandma's long post from last night I might not think it believable that MR might be jealous or angry by Dylan's desire to be elsewhere. But now I can't put anything past him, in my mind. (Not sure, but I think she deleted the post since.)

Okay- this idea blows my mind. Can't decide whether I agree or not. Is the scenario that MR confiscated Dylan's phone the night before? I find this very probable. But I believe Dylan went missing, so to speak, Sunday night so why would MR hold onto the phone the next day? And if he had the phone, he wouldn't dare turn it on to look at texts, would he? Because then the phone would ping and LE says the last electronic communication was either 8:01 (phone) or 9:37 (godknowswhat device) so no pings/power to the phone. Help me out here b/c this is an interesting idea.

What I mean is this...if MR had the phone, and we assume he was texting Dylan that morning as a way to support his abduction story, wouldn't he want the phone to be answered? Why not just turn the phone on, let the texts come through, and answer with something that Dylan might say?

I think he would hold on to the phone and read the texts to help him develop a more believable cover up. JMO

Because MR wasn't at home that morning. If he had Dylan's phone in his possession, the pings wouldn't line up with Dylan's last known location.

But as far as we know, there was no activity on Monday. I believe texting and pretending to be someone else is very difficult. Text language is fairly individual. So no, I don't think it would have been wise to send out texts. I don't see anyone with the phone on Monday which is why I was curious about the theory. I believe phone and Dylan both disappeared Sunday night. Together.

(Using the term "YOU" and in any person) Yes, if you had premeditated a killing, this would make sense, but not if an accident occurred and you packed up the phone with the other belongings. Or if you wanted it to look like an abduction, you might not do that, because then there is just "I assumed he was still asleep" to cover for why you would not be worried. You might want to give the largest possible window for him to have disappeared in, because what if you had narrowed it down to w one hour slot where he had to have disappeared, and it turned out there was a road repair crew at that time who saw nothing on the road at that time. (Boy, can I come up with the ideas....)

Well, I live in NC and I interact with family's from all socioeconomic backgrounds routinely...most of them born and raised in the south, but I've never once heard any of them refer to "pacing" to indicate walking around the house. I have heard them say "puttering", but not "pacing". :floorlaugh:

To me pacing is for times when your eagerly waiting for somone or something.
Or worried about something. Aprehensive you cant st down your worried.
Ppl pace in waiting rooms of hospitals or ppl pace waiting to hear news about your missing child.

You pace when your between a rock and a really hard place.

In general, parents exhibiting Hostile-Aggressive-Parenting have not succeeded in getting on with their own life and remain, instead, controlled by their negative emotions and continue to exercise power and control over their ex-spouse's life, their ex-spouse's parenting and to a large extent, over the children of the relationship as well. Thats not the way I understand it. there was activity only no Dylan activity!

I think it's really likely that if Dylan's body is found regardless of it was Father Did It or Stranger Did It, his cell phone will not be with him. I wonder if the backpack is more likely to have been disposed of with Dylan or in a separate location? In which case, maybe the backpack will be found in this search. In the Jessica Ridgeway murder, the backpack was intentionally placed in a different area to mislead LE.

True enough...good thought. But why would he risk carrying it around in the first place if he understood about pings? Or turn it on to read the texts? I'm thinking if he did have the phone, he would've left it at home.

Someone suggested that maybe he is just an anxiety prone guy who can't sit still for long periods of time...I guess being a truck driver must get pretty rough on him. :floorlaugh:

Do you have a link to anything saying he doesn't have one? I'm also curious to know why you think that having a girlfriend would make him understand his son more. TIA MOO ETC.

For one, he claims that he had no one there for him until his brother came. I also don't think he has a girlfriend because we would have heard from her, or about he,r I would hope anyway. If he did have a friend he may have been more understanding in Dylan wanting to be with his friends Sunday night. No I have no link that he doesn't have one. It's just an assumption on my part.

Well, I'm not sure I believe he was carrying the phone around with him at all. I'm of the opinion that everything ended Sunday evening. As far as him knowing anything about going to N's house instead of R's grandma's house...there is the mysterious 9:37 pm "text" that we don't know anything about. And for all we do know, there were texts from N that we've not seen, that discussed them all getting together on Monday. We've only seen the text exchange between Dylan and R. I'm pretty sure there are other texts and plans the boys had that we know nothing about.

The elderly couple that noticed the backpack didn't even know about Jessica Ridgeway being missing. I truly believe the way these tv stations scroll "This is just a Test weekly"

They should do the same on all tv channels thru out the day in that and surrounding areas, So citizens watching non news channels are aware of Missing Children.

That's where it makes a difference whether LE :
- meant absolutely NO ACTIVITY from the night before on the phone
- meant no communication from Dylan from the night before, but not
saying the phone is actually dead
- is not actually stating the true facts regarding the phone so as to trip
up the suspect

But, I specifically remember him texting about that time, and he was texting on the couch after we were here and watching the movie he was over there texting or playing a video or something. I just assumed he was texting, ‘cos it’s not like he can’t ever get service up here, it’s just very sporadic.
