Thx. I've followed enough cases over the years to know that sometimes one parent is considered guilty in part because the only alternative is a random stranger abduction. The random stranger has no name, so it's easier to interpret everything about the one parent as suspicious. It's like there are two possibilities: a huge empty void, or one of the parents ... and it's always easier to focus on one of the parents.

Yep that's it.

Any child that gets dressed for school and then goes to bed is not just getting ready for school on time ... something is wrong if a child is getting dressed for school before going to bed at night.

Says who?

In fact, and I do NOT have a link, but ER's mother said that exact thing a few weeks ago . She said that it was easier to blame MR than a stranger because then they feel Dylan isn't hurt or something like that .

I definitely do not have time to read through 37 threads that have 60 pages ... so if I am coming late to the table, I apologize. I've read parts of the discussion off and on, but this weekend is the first time that I have had time to make the maps that someone requested ages ago.

And a wonderful map maker you are. I so appreciate you being here and helping make maps for us otto. :) Thank you.

I had included a Someone Else Did It Theory that had Dylan, awake but really grumpy and not getting, a father getting frustrated and leaving, and then Dylan realizing h was being left, grabbing his stuff and heading out the door. Too late to catch dad, possibly heading down the road a bit after him, putting himself in sight of an opportunistic abductor. HUGE coincidence that an abductor would be right there, at that time, but it does explain the lack of Monday morning contact and fits with a kid who is trying to get in to town to see his friends.

That's the thing about stranger abductions ... they are opportunistic ... a coincidence where a child is unattended and a predator is nearby.

And how do you explain the cereal bowl and TV being on Nickelodeon? He has time to eat breakfast but no time to respond to his friend?

Was his phone dead? Why didn't he use his phone as an alarm to get up on time?

They did go back..

Area reservoirs searched again

The searches failed to produce any new leads, said Dan Bender, spokesman for the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’re just trying to be as thorough as we can be,” he said.

No new leads in search for missing 13-year-old: Task force continues search, parents take polygraph test

Investigators continue their search for Dylan Redwine, the 13-year-old Lewis-Palmer Middle School Student, who disappeared from his father's home on Nov. 19 near Durango while on a visit for Thanksgiving.
Boats equipped with sonar equipment searched Vallecito Lake again while the task force searched the shoreline.
“We have no new tips that have sent us back to the lake but we're checking in case changes in water and lake conditions could have resulted in any changes from last week,” Sgt. Dan Bender, spokesperson for the Dylan Redwine Task Force, said in a statement. “Those searches have not found anything at this time but are continuing throughout the day.”
None of your links seem to work. The last article I found and it was first posted on Tues Nov 27 and appears to be referring to the sonar search done on Nov 24th and 25th. I may be wrong though.

Why would he get up when his Dad left? Dad said he was out like a light, and wouldn't budge?

Maybe he decided to get up at 7:30 AM after all.

That could be true in your world, but not necessarily in someone else's world. That's like saying my putting coffee on a timer the night before means I'm not getting ready for work on time. Actually, it just means I like hot coffee first thing. And yes, wearing clothes to bed and making coffee is equivalent to me, although I understand if it is not to you.

If MR was going to take Dylan over at 6:30 in the morning and MR was going to errands for part of the day, why not let Dylan stay the night and part of the day until he was done with his errands then pick Dylan up and spend the rest of the week with Dylan? Why do the extra driving? JMO

If I had driven to pick up one of my children, waited over an hour for a delayed plane, then was asked to drive my child to a friends house which was out of my way, not even taking into consideration the return mileage, I would be saying no as well.

If they don't like it they can sulk the night.

It does not make me a bad parent, or a murderer, or one not considerate of their wishes.

Nobody seem to know why he didn't use his phone in the morning.

For SARX...

Is it usual or customary to have family members accompany the dog teams during an active search?

NO! LE won't let them and everyone I know would STRONGLY discourage it (though, if you're not LE, you can't physically stop them. Most parents though when you explain why it's a bad idea, listen). When this changes often though is when the family is the one that has hired the group.

We saw all texts between R and Dylan. Dylan didn't tell R that he was planning to sleep until his dad left and then hitch hike. Where is that coming from?

Actually we didn't see the texts from earlier in the day. Dylan and R may have already discussed that R would be heading back to Bayfield to meet up for the night prior to the texts we see. The article sidebar itself says that R was heading back to Bayfield from Pagosa Springs, a 50 minute drive per Google.

His Dad said he tried to wake him up for 45 minutes, but he was out like a light and wouldnt budge. So why all of a sudden would he jump up after his ride left:?

I agree and it is so painfully obvious. jmo

:banghead:

It's not painfully obvious. It's painfully obvious to me that they had discussed getting together earlier in the day. R then says in Pagosa and coming to Bayfield. Dylan says he can't come.

I do. If people routinely got dressed for school and work at night, and then went to bed for 8 hours, the world would be full of very smelly people. If a 13 year old has this habit, I think that something is "off" somewhere.

My son missed the bus so many times that he resorted to the same thing for awhile. It worked great.

It's painfully obvious to me that only R (and maybe DR) know for sure what he meant. MOO
