Dr. Phil to Mark: why do you think the police are continuing to investigate you?

Mark: I don't think the focus is just looking at me

:21 seconds

What happened to Mark wanting LE to focus on him and why didn't he answer the question?

I can't wait to see this.

Well that looks pretty wild, doesn't it? I won't be able to watch it when it airs, so I'm counting on you guys!

It would be great if this case could be featured on "America's Most Wanted." That show seems to reach a pretty good audience. I'm all for getting the word out, through the right avenues. The more people reached, the better chances are that he'll be found. At least maybe someone can come forward with information that will locate him. IMO.

Dr. Phil is the #1 talk show....so it must be the "right avenue"

per article:

Dr. Phil topped the talk shows for the eighteenth week this season

Um, the one time hitch hiking story came out long after the friends initially stated he was known to hitch hike. Try again.

Other than MR stating this, where is the link that the friends said he was known to hitch hike?

The only thing I've seen is that they thought he might have decided to walk into Bayfield and gotten grabbed.

TIA

If it wasn't for Dylan's Friends, the group that hitchhiked that one time from the Library, It's very doultful he would have said that.

He never knew about Dylan hitchhiking the one known time with friends.

I'm positive MR made sure he repeated that every opportunity he received to cast suspicion on a total stranger picking Dylan up hitchhiking.

That was my impression too. The only person perpetuating the idea that Dylan was "known to hitchike is MR himself".

Let's leave the discussion of appearances out of it, please. That is NEVER allowed. It doesn't matter if you comb your hair or not, put on makeup or not, tuck in your shirt or not.

Doesn't matter and it is not allowed.

Thanks,

Salem

According to a June 2012 article I found, AMW was bringing in around 873,000 viewers on Lifetime. Dr. Phil averages around 4 million viewers.

don't Dr Phil's shows generally air in the afternoon or daytime? I've never watched so I really don't know.

MR learned from Dylan's Friend / Friends he had hitchhiked in the past.

It's different for everyone, but I think it ranges from around 1:00-5:00 PM.

“We asked (residents) about any sheds or barns where he could take shelter,” F******* said.

The boys said Dylan wasn’t shy about hitching rides.

“Honestly, I think he was walking into Bayfield and got taken away,” he said.

W***** agreed.

You know what I just realized with all this hitchhiking talk?
Isn't it then twice or ten times more UNLIKELY that he attempted to
walk to that friends house , considering on much shorter rides, he'd
rather try a hitchhike than walk ?

I do believe most of us know this, but just to clarify for the newcomers, there was an initial statement from Dylan's friends when they referred to the possibility (ie, speculating as boys do) of Dylan hitching a ride, but there was a later video when the boys were pressed about this subject and they stated Dylan "hitched" one time when they were all in a group, caught in a snowstorm. They were also in Bayfield looking for a ride home from the library. Nothing was ever reported that Dylan was a habitual hitchhiker or that this was an activity that he routinely participated in.

It may have been too long a week or it might be too late at night, but I'm struggling with your wording. Could you explain this a little more? Apologies for my tired brain.

These are young teen boys that are being interviewed and making a hypothetical statement based on a one time incident,

They claimed durning a snow storm Dylan put his finger out there and they were able to secure a ride, a one Time incident.

MR made sure he drove around to locate one of Dylan's friends that day, and in quite sure that after Dylan's Father started asking have you seen Dylan today, he wasn't home when I arrived, Do you know any one that might have driven him,

The Known friend might have said they were together once and Dylan hitchhiked, and from that moment on MR has stated Dylan was know to hitchhike.

You are right NC and I'm sorry if my post made it sound like he hitched all over all day long. I just thought in reference to him attempting to walk, he'd probably be more likely to hitch on a really LONG ride like that than try to walk in. Speculative..mooo !

That's all well and good, but when people say MR grasped onto the notion Dylan hitchhiked, the story of the one time came out much later.

JMO, but "hitching" a ride in town with a group of your buddies in a snowstorm isn't even close to "hitchhiking" while alone and attempting to go some 20 miles.

The boys never even specified if they actually GOT a ride and/or if they did get a ride, if it was someone they all knew....like a neighbor/mom/teacher/etc.

None of this indicates Dylan was in the habit of hitchhiking in the typical sense of the word. It could just as easily been a situation when he was showing off and stuck out his thumb and someone who knew them gave them a ride. Boys will be boys....and they are known to exaggerate. Often.

Um, I posted a link to the friends saying Dylan was known to hitchhike well before MR said anything and well before it came out it was only one time.
