I can't find any Bayfield Police department. Weird that Elaine says she called the Sheriff and called the Bayfield Police around 5pm, but it's Mark who's on record as the one who filed the missing person report at 6pm.

I wish they'd release the 911 calls they got that day, and the initial police/missing reports. I'd like to see who did what, who said what, and when and where they did and said it.

I don't believe there was a 911 call as MR went to Marshall's Office and ER called Sherriff's office.

Are we able to see the police report?

The Bayfield Marshal's office = police for the town of Bayfield.

I think they can take note of Elaines call but the call of record would be Marks because Dylan was in his care and she was in colorado springs!

Not sure but?

How about Vallecito... do they have a PD? Could ER have called them?

I assume Elaine's call to the Sheriff's office was a 911 call, but you're right, maybe she just called non-emergency. And when she called Bayfield Police, I assumed that was a 911 call, but again, you're right - she might have just called the non-emergency line.

That's why I said I'd like to know who did what, who said what, where, and when.

Question:
Is there any additional MSM article missing related to notification at either Sheriff's Office or Marshall's Office by either MR or ER?

I see that I did previously provide the link from the NG show so not sure if there is anything else folks want me to add. Please advise. TIA

I'm not asking you to add anything, but I'm just curious if you're going to add Elaine saying she called the Bayfield Police?

It was my understanding that they were going to cut "holes" in different spots in the ice.

I don't know the answer to your last question, but they must think they are able to since they are using the dogs this way....

One of the mods was going to try and have Sarx join us.

Thanks Scorekeeper. Just finally caught up to those posts. I should learn to finish reading before I start responding! You're right, I'm sure they wouldn't be wasting time and resources like this if they couldn't get anything.

Ok, so I'm thinking I've got this straight. The Marshal's Office would be the equivalent of what we call "City Police" (thus, why ER referred to them as Bayfield PD). So, I imagine if one placed a call to the Marshal's office, an officer would be dispatched to the scene. In this case probably the "office" where MR claims to have gone. This could account for my "missing 45-60 min" when MR was between N's house (when he claims it "first hit him") and the time it took him to drive to the "office", wait for a Marshal to arrive so he could make the report. Thank you. This has been driving me crazy. I couldn't see anyone just hanging around for that period of time before they actually made the report. and NO, LE doesn't log the time when the report is completed. They log the time the individual calls or arrives.

I thought I did, but upon review, I see that I added just a snippet of that conversation w/ NG so will add the next question/sentence. Thanks!

That's why it's always good to have others input to keep as accurate as possible.
Thanks!

As far as my experience, anybody can file a missing person report, and it can be done over the phone. I have a habit of filing them on homeless people I get to know, and then don't see for a while, and nobody else has seen them or knows where they've gone. I had to file a missing person report on an employee of mine once (found her in England!). I filed one on a co-worker of mine whose husband had been hitting her (she was in the hospital in a coma). All done over the phone, and I wasn't related. Done in different states.

So it was just a human scent and not Dylan's that they found at the lake

human decomp scent
they would not be able to tell if it was Dylan's without a body

remember LE also said the scent could be from an elk or something but I thought the HRD could tell the difference between human and animal... but we need Sarx or someone to help us here

I believe they also took the bloodhounds down around the lake but I don't think they picked up Dylan's scent...

I sincerely doubt that. Vallecito doesn't even have a school, so I would say most of their government enterprise is handled by Bayfield or Durango. JMO, though.

Oh OK
I think there is a record of her call I just think MSM uses Marks because he was the one that lost him and he lives in the area!

  • #334
Even if Mark had gotten some "threats" the woman interviewing him was clearly not a threat and so therefore no need for the gun on the table.

I know this has already been discussed quite a bit but just adding my :twocents:. I don't think he thought the interviewer was a threat, but he knew this would be seen by people, especially people who are closely following in this case. IMO it was there for the viewers to see, not so much for the interviewer.

I don't think Elaine would have been able to call "their" (Bayfield) 911 as she was on the road. Wouldn't the call been routed to the nearest 911 from the area she was in?

Does that even make sense?? :seeya:

Unless Elaine and Mark had a decent exchange of information, I'm not sure what she could have said on her report other than that no one seemed to know where Dylan was. I would think that Mark could have filed a much more complete missing person's report.

Would really like to see actual paperwork filed in this case. I'm surprised that the "investigative reporter" did not get the original report, the application for the search warrant or any other publicly available document.

I don't know where I heard it but I swear I ' heard it ' with my ears. I don't think this is a case of read it somewhere like fb, etc. I 'm just sure I heard it. Could it have been in the promo on his show on Friday ? Ugh. If I misspoke I apologize to everyone. I really thought I did but I've got my head in more messes now so ...... IDK the answer. I thought it was the dude who speaks during the promo for dr phil saying ' the first time they'v spoken in 3 years ' would be on the dr phil show. Again, very sorry if I'm wrong.

FWIW I recall hearing it too. I heard it recently on the Dr. Phil promo, but I also thought I read early on (possibly in an interview transcript) that their only communication since 2009 had been via text. I remember thinking it was odd and maybe it was court ordered or something. I would still think a missing child would kind of over-ride the court order (maybe not legally speaking, but I think most judges would understand!). I think it was around the same time he was saying that he wanted to see ER face to face and something about how he didn't want to have dinner with her, just wanted to come together to find Dylan. Sort of gave me the impression at the time of "I'm not using this as an excuse to see ER, we need to work together..."

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I will keep looking for it but wanted to add in the context of where I think I heard/saw it the first time in case it jogs someone else's memory.

My bolding. So if I call the police right now and say I'll come in tomorrow morning at 9am to fill out a report, and when I get there I have to wait an hour to do the report, they'll put 4:41pm 2/24 or 9am 2/25 on the report instead of logging the actual time I make the report at 10am 2/25?

That doesn't make any sense to me. I think they put the time they fill out the report.

REVISED 2/24/2013:

MR & ER MSM Statements RE: REPORTING DR MISSING

1. NANCY GRACE TRANSCRIPT
"GRACE: Everyone, taking your calls is Dylan`s mother. Now, Ms. Redwine, was -- did there come a time when you learned that Dylan was missing? How did that happen?

REDWINE: Well, his dad texted me at around, oh, 4:30. Maybe it was closer to 5:00 on Monday. And I texted him back. You know, it was like, Well, we should call the sheriff. So I went ahead and I actually called the sheriff that day. I don’t know if Mark had called the sheriff that day, either, but I called the sheriff right after I got the text from Mark. I went to my house, picked up a bag, grabbed my oldest son, Corey (ph), and we came to Durango."

GRACE: And then you found out he hadn`t been seen. So did you actually call the police?

REDWINE: I did call the police. I don`t know if Mark did or not, but I did, as well. I called the Bayfield police.
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIP.../03/ng.01.html

2. Mark called Elaine Redwine and went to the Bayfield Marshall’s Office.

3. Dylan Redwine's father, Mark Redwine, reported the 13-year-old missing midday Nov. 19 from his house in the Vallecito area, about 22 miles northeast of Durango.

4. Mark reported Dylan as missing a little before 5 p.m. Monday after he was unable to find him during the afternoon.

5. Mark Redwine alerted law enforcement about Dylan’s absence just before 6 p.m. Nov. 19, Bender said.

6. But at that moment in time…, I felt the need to address this issue with mom, so I immediately asked her had she heard from him and indicated to her that I hadn’t heard from him all day and that I was at the Marshall’s office taking care of this, and that’s when pretty much all hell broke loose with her.

Sarx did answer this in the last thread I beleive. I tried to search for the posting but couldn't figure out how to find it.

IIRC, the dogs can determine the difference between human and animal. They are specifically trained to detect HR.
