So I was reading that you stated 'there were indeed threats made'.
Please have a link for me to follow.

After all that, I was pretty sure Mark would never talk to me on camera, but he agreed to let me come to his house. When I arrived, it was unnerving to see the loaded shotgun on his kitchen table. Mark explained he had been receiving threatening phone calls. He also started crying right in front of the kitchen sink. The rough-around-the-edges guy talked about his bond with his lost son. I spent nearly two hours there. Mark answered every single one of my questions

Dylan Redwine's dad says everyone suspect in teen's disappearance

I thought LE said they were not calling him a suspect?
Yet he says they are!

So is he?
Or is he not?

I think he is.

I love those pictures of the dogs.. I hope they are warm.. I am a dog lover.. Thank you for posting.. Those dogs have a hard job, and their trainers work just as hard.. I pray all are safe during their search.

Beautiful dogs! That snow looks COLD! I hope the dogs are warm, too! God bless them and their handlers for the job they're doing!

It must be wonderful living in a small town, being able to go places and not have the parents worry all the time that they are going to meet up with danger. My kids grew up in the city where we had to know where they were all the time.

What an idyllic life, to be able to climb trees, go to the river or lake or stream or pond nearby. Fish, hike, just be a kid with no worries.

I can see in that sort of backdrop where you wouldn't worry all the time where you child is. Especially if they have friends all over. What a great way to spend a childhood. IMO

BBM I'm quoting my own post:

This is not meant to criticize anyone's parenting methods. Some people helicopter parent, some give their children lots of freedom, and most probably fall somewhere in between. This isn't about what I consider the right or wrong approach, but rather about consistency. From MR's uncut interview:

All I need to know is that he’s safe and where he’s at, and how to get a hold of him, and it’s likely I’ll pop in on him -- Check to make sure he’s at where he says he’s at. Those things were important to me. You know… when he’s with me – it’s me and him, with the exception of his friends. You know… I know those are important to him, but … you know… I monitor what he does, where he’s at. You know… it’s just me and him. There’s not people coming and going in my life ‘cos everything I focus on is him and us being together spending that time.

This sounds like MR believes in keeping pretty close tabs on Dylan. I don't see his actions on Nov 19 as being consistent at all with what he's said here. For me, it's not about whether I would panic or be unconcerned in this situation, but rather how MR himself describes his parenting style.

I grew up in just such idyllic surroundings where you didn't have to be home on summer nights until the lightning bugs started coming out. In 1955, I was 6 years old. My father was a police officer. This is what happened to the little girl who lived next door to us:
She was abducted at gunpoint right out of her own back yard in broad daylight, raped and murdered by Willie Grady Cochran.

http://news.google.com/newspapers?n...hRNAAAAIBAJ&sjid=hjEDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6406,1135920

The idea that there is a safe place or safe time is an illusion. Whether parents are hyper vigilant or relaxed, they can't keep 24 hour watch or control every situation. Sometimes, there is no defense against evil.

Completely OT, but when I researched this, it struck me how much things have changed and how much they remain the same. The crime took place June 20, and Cochran was convicted by July 15 and executed the following spring in April of 1956. These were the days before Miranda. There was a huge outcry and a call for parole reform because Cochran had just been released after serving only 7 years of a 20 year sentence for rape.

we only have MRs word that he has received death threats, I would think if he really had been receiving death threats that LE would have taken action and prosecuted those people, theres been no such indications at this point in time. had those threats been made by telephone LE would be able to track those calls.

the gun out IMO was a prop for the poor mark pity party, it wasn't because he's scared, it was a veiled threat IMO

How could they prosecute anyone if they don't know who made the threats? Things like that are usually anonymous... people don't call someone up and threaten to hurt or kill them and then say, "By the way, this is Joe Blow. Have a nice day."
Threatening calls or notes left on windshields, etc. happen in a lot of cases. LE doesn't usually do much about it, unless it's a prominent citizen, like a mayor, police chief, politician... somebody important who is being threatened. If he had messages left on his phone, I'm sure he has shown them to LE and they know about it.

why did they never call in texas equusearch?

Who is 'they?' The families have to contact TES, it's not up to LE. I don't know, maybe they did and TES was busy with another case. Who knows?
Also... LE has to approve before TES can become involved. If that particular LE did not give their okay for some reason, TES can't do anything on their own.

I agree that the callers wouldn't have said who they were, that doesn't mean that LE couldn't find out where the call originated from.

for one LE could have had a trace on MRs line, secondly the telecommunications companies can track where calls originate from.

using any telephony or computer leaves a trail.

here its an offence to use a telecommunications device to harrass or threaten someone, its part of the telecommunications act, do you not have laws covering that?

I'm a little behind and if it has been answered then I'm sorry. :). The family did talk to Texas equusearch, but was told by LE they didn't want them in and because TE will only work with LE they couldn't help.

K-9 Forensics should be on the ice soon! So anxious to hear if they will also hit on the lake. If they do does anyone know what LE's next step would be at this time? Do you believe they would try dive teams again with the weather conditions?

I don't believe they would try to dive again until spring when it's warmer. It was hard for them in November to be down very long. But I do wonder if there are groups who are trained specifically for diving in icy water. IMOP

All you have to do is look at some of the FB pages surrounding this case to see many threats made towards MR.

I always find it suspect when LE won't allow TE in...Their "find" rate is great...If I were a parent of a missing person I would FIGHT to get them involved...JMO

I also don't get it...
What would be the reason any LE would not want them especially after LE is at what appears to be a stand still? How could TE hurt their investigation at this point? TE has many resources and the area to be searched is so vast, you would think they would welcome the extra manpower.

Pins and needles waiting on that lake search. K-9 have been pretty faithful about posting updates. I imagine we will hear more from them tonight. Of course, other dogs have hit and we still don't know what is or is not down there so a hit doesn't tell us much more than we already have known. Still, pins and needles.

EXACTLY OtherEyes - they have people/resources/equipment that local LE doesn't...and a heart for the missing. The crime scene isn't where they are going to find him. IMO - the crime scene is either a vehicle or house...
