I keep hearing mention of MR saying Dylan did not have a coat with him. And that Dylan had no games in his backpack. And that Dylan's charger was in his backpack..and that Dylan.s phone was in his backpack. Am I the only one that finds it strange 5that MR knows all the contents of his backpack being as they would only have been awake at the house together for a total of approx 2 hours ? And MR spent that time going through his backpack?

Yes I find that very strange and have mentioned it before. How would he know what Dylan did or didn't have in the backpack? There would be no reason for him to go through it in the short amount of time Dylan was there. I could see him maybe asking where his jacket was when he got off the plane and Dylan saying he didn't bring one, but how did he know the rest?

Thank you. The temperature was between 30 and 47 degrees from 7:30 to 11:30 that day. Is that really considered fairly warm in that area? It's considered cold around here, but that can be relative.
<SNIP>
ETA: I read the chart wrong so I had the low temperature too high-fixed it
It's warm to me! Around here in November, people are usually pleasantly surprised if it's still above freezing. I know we've been having a heatwave here for a while - in the upper 20s and low 30s for a good week now! :great:

He said that he had asked Dylan if he had a coat with him and he had said no. I thought he might have asked about buying some movies because he didn't bring his games with him.I've never heard that he said the phone was in the backpack; I just remember him saying that the phone, backpack and everything was gone. MOO

In mid November with no coat? Is this even a good time for trout fishing? I know nothing about that but I don't know anyone who would fish in November in a cold climate. Doesn't look like they even ice fish in the winter on that lake.

Dylan is not a 10yr old boy who would throw a rod in water whenever just for the heck of it. I think he'd know when it would be productive to go fishing. Especially if he took a class.

Isn't a fly fishing rod really long? Who stores that in a small house beside the tv? Or any rod for that matter. Dont they get a little smelly with the bait and all?Nothing he says makes any sense.

MOO
I would say yes, they do fish in November.
Seasoned anglers mark their calendars for September, October and November in Colorado as possible the best fly fishing on earth.

For the record, you don't use baits for fly casting, you use "flies". Since live bait isn't allowed, I would imagine that most people probably use lures, which usually don't have much smell. MOO

The theory with the pole is - Dylan gets up sometime after Mark left, ate breakfast while watching tv, cannot or does not contact any of his friends, grabs a pole that he may not know how to use, without a coat and goes fishing...where? To the river? That seems more reasonable than that he walked 5.9 miles to the dam. Hm.

What if the 9:37 text was to a friend and they arranged to go fishing in the morning while Mark ran his errands? And what if Dylan agreed to meet the friend along the road then walk with him to an unknown fishing spot? And someone came by and kept Dylan from getting there.

Things that might have happened: Dylan didn't get a chance to tell Mark before he went up to bed. Dylan didn't get up because he knew he was going to meet his friend and mumbled something to his dad. Dylan was not upset or in a hurry to contact the Bayfield friends because he was excited to see this friend too and knew he was going in to Bayfield in the afternoon.

Yep every time I refresh it drops out and won't load. Frustrating!

I had that problem last night and today. I thought I was losing my internet connection. I brought out my back up just in case.

I wonder if ER was hoping/expecting that maybe during Dylan's visit with his dad that MR would provide his son with some new clothes or maybe a new winter coat, etc. One of my good friends growing up who's parents were divorced, dad lived in California but since he only saw him a few times a year it was expected and understood that his dad would buy him new shoes, jacket, clothes/whatever bc he rarely saw his son. Idk. I've been loosely following this case and it makes me very sad... I was able to catch some of DP show but was wondering if anyone has the video link, would like to review again.

Actually, the lake is used for ice fishing.

Look at the bottom of the page.

But I would think that would be hard core fisherman. I cannot see Dylan taking his fishing pole out in November alone.

(Putting the post back that I'd deleted, since the fly fishing convo is now ok :waitasec:)

All which can be left on the pole and stored in this manner. You don't need to attach a hook or fly-lure every time you go fishing. Professionals or more avid fishers would carry a tackle box, not necessarily a teen just messing around for fun. Fly rods can usually be broken down into 4 pieces.

ETA - earthworms are not used to fly fish.

I wasn't referring to fly fishing; neither was the post I was responding to. ;) Don't think we've seen anything to indicate it was a fly fishing rod. IMO, fly fishing is both harder and far less common, so it's more likely it was not a fly fishing rod.

Mark Redwine said Sunday [11/25] that he hadn't been able to find the boy's fishing rod.

"I question why it has taken this long to start scouring the lake because from Day One they have known it is likely he had a fishing pole with him," Redwine, 52, said.

MR:
"There was a fishing pole at the house and it was Dylan’s fishing pole. That fishing pole was never found. I did lay down and take a nap for probably no more than an hour"
Dr Phil 1

ER:
"Mark talks about his backpack and his fishing pole. Dylan is not a big fisherperson. He didn’t even know how to thread his own line."
Dr Phil 1

MR:
To respond to that, if I may, I attempted to go to T’s house to talk to him but he didn’t answer the door. I assumed that possibly him and Dylan were at the lake. You know the fishing pole has never been found…I assumed that maybe that was a possibility. Do I know for a fact that he had a fishing pole? Absolutely not…

CR:
When you go into your house the fishing pole is in the garage. You didn’t walk through the garage and into the house before you went into the house...

MR:
There’s several places that that fishing pole is… it was either next to the TV

CR:
It’s always in the garage. Then how come that’s the first …you noticed that before his bike? Before his footprints?
Dr Phil 2

ER:
"Mark talks about his backpack and his fishing pole. Dylan is not a big fisherperson. He didn’t even know how to thread his own line."
Dr Phil 1
They went fishing together, but Dylan would quickly become bored and start skipping rocks or swimming in the lake instead. He wouldn’t just grab a fishing pole and head to the lake by himself, his mother said.

Didn't Cory say the broken pole at the dam was Dylan's? That Cory had helped put the reel on it for Dylan and recognized it?

Well I'm sure there are avid fishermen who will fish in all conditions including drilling holes in a frozen lake to go out and fish alone or in a group but I didn't notice that the marina was capitalizing on the sport of ice fishing by staying open in the winter and renting out ice huts.

But the real question is.... Why would a father who claims to know his son well think that his son might walk 6 miles in the cold to go fishing at a closed marina with a friend he wasn't asking to go visit the day before? Has Dylan ever gone to visit this friend on his own in the past three years? Did Dylan hang around with T at all in the past three years? Was T a childhood friend or were they still close friends before Dylan moved?

13, almost 14yr old boys don't go "out to play" on their own very often. Especially in the cold with no coat.

~Respectfully snipped~
Sorry, just now replying to your request, Salem..traveling again so not able to check in as often as usual..

You will find Elaine's actual reply to MB's inquiry beginning at the 21:32 minute mark on the Uncut interview footage.. sorry as I have the interview videos downloaded to my tablet so am unable to actually post a direct link to this video at the moment, but do know that it is posted in the Media thread for any wanting to review it..as well as we also have TxJan1971 who fully transcribed the full uncut interviews as well(tho unfortunately I don't have those saved on this tablet:crazy: ..lol..go figure as that would have come in mighty handy at this moment..lol)

MB brings up the sealed statements and Elaine states,

To which Melissa Blasius asks,

To which Elaine replies @ the 21:32 min mark,

So, this is the exact conversation that I spoke of in my post upthread discussing Dylan's sealed statements and that IMO Elaine is absolutely aware of why Dylan spoke with the judge and its my opinion that it is a testament to the close relationship, with open dialogue, that she and Dylan had.. and its for that reason that Elaine Redwine knew exactly what and how Dylan felt about the issues that were discussed between he and the judge..and IMO Elaine knows that there was good reason why those statements made by Dylan were in fact sealed by the judge..
but of course this is MOO and am always sure to make certain atleast that point is clarified in my posts.

Hopefully that clarifies the issue that you were asking about and my apologies if my particular wording seemed to indicate something more or different(as we all know my wordiness does not at all equal clear and completely thorough thoughts in my head being successfully translated from my brain to the words of a post..lol)

Just lemme know if there's anything else regarding my being unclear..or nonsensical.. I'll hopefully have some time to check in and get better caught up later this evening..:)

Thanks Smooth! So ER didn't say she knew exactly what Dylan said to the judge, but that she had a good idea because she knew how Dylan felt. Yes, that answers my question and I appreciate it.

Thanks!

Salem

This is a plausible theory, but I think if this would have happened, we would know about it by now. We would have heard either from the friend or from LE because LE would have wanted to track the friend down. I just think they would have said something like "Dylan had plans to meet his friend at the river and ever showed up" instead of Dylan planned to meet his friends in Bayfield and never showed up, kwim?

Darn WS glitches. I think LE may be saying this as a ruse.

I'm with ya on this...I'm still thinking there is strategy going on here behind the scenes that we are unaware of. They do need a Dylan though :-(

I think the'yre going to find Dylan soon, due to all Elaine's hard work and the lake searches. God bless that woman and her tenacity! It's heartening to see a woman that fights so hard for her son, especially after all the cases we see of parents harming, discarding, and abusing their precious gifts.

  • #578
I'm glad LE is making sure to view the Dr Phil footage. With all the things we notice, and the fact they've talked to him many times, I'm betting there's even more inconsistencies that add toward probable cause and clues to find Dylan and solve the case.

GO DYLAN REDWINE TASK FORCE!

GO DYLAN'S WARRIORS!

AND YOU GO, ELAINE, MICHAEL, & CORY! Your relentless love and pursuit of the truth will make the difference! :rocker!

I'm not sure. I think there are several holes like this that we should have heard of by now and we haven't. I posted a list of "who hasn't come forward" the other day, and the recipient of that 9:37 text was on it. Along with the owner of the fishing pole and the boys that were walking on the road. The WS posters response was that no one would come forward or allow a young person to come forward to be harassed and attacked - look at what happened to the mail lady.

That's true, especially if the text was to one of his friends. Pure speculation on my part, but I think the 9:37 text was an SOS to someone and that LE mentioned it when they did to send out a message, either to the person that received the text (although I can't imagine they haven't talked to that person already) or to whoever might know something about Dylan's disappearance.

Again - pure speculation on my part. I just thought it was very strategic, the way LE added it to the timeline, 2 months later, kwim?
