I think in a couple of weeks it should be![]()
Docs Marina say they opened April 5th last year and the consensus seems to be that the ice is melting more quickly this year. I think two weeks, tops.

What if the suspect (as yet none are named) is one of the children Dylan was seen with or another youth from the community? Do you think that LE would lead the public away from examining that possibility? I agree a POI is not likely to be formally notified and a minor would present even more reasons for caution in the wording of a press release. And before anyone jumps all over me, I do not have a firm theory about this being the case and I surely don't want it to be, but I can't rule it out based on the facts and information available. LE will manipulate not only suspects, but the public in its quest for the truth.

ER brought items for tracking. I would think LE would get some tracking dogs and have them go after Dylan's scent and see if it led to the woods or in some kind of direction of a runaway or adventure. It sounds like you have some doubts about the dogs abilities based on the examples of the other factors? Am I misreading this?
There was a rumor that there may have been a lead toward the intersection, but LE says nothing about that. I'm interested in that possibility. But I just don't know why they'd be tight-lipped if they found evidence Dylan had wandered toward a cliff or a mine shaft or something. JMO Thanks for your thoughts.
None of Dylans belongings that could carry his scent was available in the first days of the investigation. But the family had articles of the boys clothing delivered on the weekend.
We have the clothes, Bender said Monday. We dont need them here (at the reservoir), but can use them later.
Three La Plata County Search and Rescue air-scent canines have returned to the Vallecito area to do ground searches.
IIRC the scent items were brought during the weekend after Dylan was reported missing. When they were given to LE Bender said something about we can't use them now, but later. So how much time elapsed before they actually used those scent items with the dog, and also what could have affected the scent to the point of there not being one? Like did it rain, was it particularly windy. Did they use tracking dogs, or air scent dogs? I thought in one article I read that said they used air scent dogs but I can't get that article to open up for me now. My very basic understanding is that air scent dogs are used to look for people still in the area, but not nose to ground trail tracking.

Mark should have lawyered up by now. Just to protect his hide against all the carp that's been going around. He should never have done Dr. Phil. That was not about getting Dylan's name and face out to the public as much as it was to expose the family dysfunction. I wonder how many viewers came away from it thinking: "The kid probably ran away, I wouldn't blame him if he did after all that going on in his life." IMO
Please tell me you aren't trying to bait this member into violating a rule.
Still looking for the answer to your question but found this along the way:
"In 80 percent of abductions by strangers, the first contact between the child and the abductor occurs within a quarter mile of the child's home". This article is filled with facts surrounding child abductions.

Not at all Kimster; thought perhaps could exclude AZ's kids from the post.
That's all.
I doesn't seem like there was any urgency in getting proper scent items to Vallecito for search dogs to use. I would think that the sooner the better when a child is missing. MOO.
Also, in this article/study I have been referring to in my most recent posts it distinguishes non family stranger abductors from "regular" pedophiles. In essence, saying pedophiles truly love children and do not perceive the inappropriate physical element of their relationship as harmful, whereas an abduction is usually for far more violent intentions and results so the sexual part is more assaultive and then they may or may not murder them, where as the typical pedophile would not think of murdering a child.

A quick question about RSO's. Do they typically (or is there a study) look for victims (right wording?) close to home? Or do they find them away from where they live and bring them to their home?
MOO
It says that Mark "contacted a criminal defense attorney" not that he has hired one. If he did hire an attorney he's been awfully quite. He also did a poor job of keeping his client from speaking publicly about the case.IIRC Mark did get a lawyer right after ER said she thought he was involved. It was in this article:
"Reality starting to set in"
And he is trying to deal with the added weight of knowing that some people think he had something to do with his son's disappearance because he was the last one to see him. He has contacted a criminal-defense attorney to help him with that. And he said he is helping in the search in any way he can.

What's the latest word folks? I've been caught up in Terrilynn Monette's thread but wanted to check in. Any news on Dylan?
Nothing new; same old/same old.
Lake is thawing; hopefully within the next couple of weeks the ice will be gone.
Dylan is still missing; no one is talking. LE did put out a press release to discount some things that were said.
