Does anyone (TIA) have a link for:

Date MR's house was searched?

Earliest date LE determined it "officially" became a criminal investigation?

If MR's house was searched lst & then it was deemed a criminal investigation, what if anything could that mean?[/

Your quote = red by me

To some it means nothing.

To some it means that Mark may have been in involved in Dylan's disappearance.

I find it odd that after Mark's house/vehicles was searched, LE announced Dylan's disappearance is being treated as a criminal investigation. In order to do that wouldn't they possible need some "criminal" evidence?

I Totally AGREE with Smooth's previous post.

I never understood why LE even thought that Dylan ran away on his own volition with the intention of hiding from his family. I haven't seen any evidence that should make them feel that was the case.

If he didn't then a crime was committed. MOO.

Doesn't a child missing mean anything? Someone 2, 5 or 10 years old compared to someone 22 years old would probably lead LE to believe the child is missing due to unusual/criminal circumstances, wouldn't it?

Is the 5 year wait period only for legal-age adults?

I was thinking more along the lines of there being a possibility that the child was abducted or ran away or ran away and got abducted along the way. Just because a child is missing, doesn't mean they are dead. Jaycee Dugard, Ben Ownsby, Shawn Hornback, Steven Stayner. Not every child who disappears is murdered. So I would think there would have to be some sort of evidence of a death in order to arrest someone and try them for the crime. IMO.

I'm curious about this as well. In the Michelle Parker case, her mom is filing a wrongful death suit against DS. I don't understand how all that works. I don't think they have any kind of evidence that she's deceased, and she's been missing since 2011. Maybe I need to do some reading up on the law.

LE has some kind of evidence that Dylan arrived at the house, but I don't believe they have any evidence that he left the house on his own accord. If there no evidence Dylan left the house it limits the possibilities on what happened to him right?

Below are MSM articles (most recent first) relating to LE considering runaway theory. 11-23-12 article provides a reason for considering this theory.

11-26-12

… the investigation is looking at a possible abduction or the possibility of a runaway,” said spokesperson Dan Bender of the La Plata County Sheriffs Office.
http://kdvr.com/2012/11/26/investiga...sing-boy-case/

11-25-12

"We know some people are upset that we are even considering the possibility that Dylan may have run away," Bender said. "But we are working for Dylan and we owe it to him and to his family to consider every possible scenario that could have caused him to drop out of sight for a week. To disregard any potential circumstance could cause us to overlook a possible clue that will lead us to Dylan."
http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news...lan-redwine-13

11-25-12

“Scenarios from abduction to runaway are being examined,” the release said. “Without any new clues, we have to continue to consider any and all possibilities, he said.

11-24-12

Bender said the search is “looking at all possibilities ... from foul play to a runaway, and everything in between.”

11-23-12

"The Sheriff's Office is not ruling out the possibility of an abduction but are also exploring the possibility that Dylan may be a runaway," the La Plata County Sheriff's Office said. "Some family members indicated Dylan may not have been in favor of the court-ordered visit this week. Dylan lived and attended school for years in the area and is known by many people."

I was also thinking along the lines that something criminally happened - hence the disappearance of the child - not necessary death.

I don't think a case could be brought against someone for murder unless there was evidence of said murder - but then again I am not a Prosecutor... (I think we may be on the same line of thought...)

Maybe just some of the knowledge that the LE obtained at first glance when looking into the past family situation? i.e., court records, frowny emoticon, dad refusing visit to friends that night, ...

I wonder what kind of evidence could show he left on his own?? Not snarky, honestly curious how they could prove that.

Not sure how many people showed up for the blood-drive. Thanks so much for those that did though.

I don't remember seeing this posted. If I missed it, sorry....

I wish they could team up with other blood banks nationwide.

I wonder if ER voiced her concerns to LE early on about MR.

I wonder what kind of evidence could show he left on his own?? Not snarky, honestly curious how they could prove that.

Snipped to answer.

I can only guess: footprints, scent, witnesses, change of plans with his friends, left a note, called his Dad, answered texts... But there has been no contact since with anyone.

ETA - We also don't know if there if any of the video or photo's LE requested that showed Dylan didn't walk or drive-by.

I have never heard of a video from McDonald's.

I would assume that the video/security camera(s) pointed at the area where the car is ordering, and at the window - which is visible to the workers inside - would be taped. I don't know that LE have ever said they got one, or released a video or anything. It could also have been confirmed by the McD's worker that she saw both MR and DR in the car when they came through the Drive-thru. I think they did confirm the trip to McDonald's though, didn't they?

Anyway, I was just suggesting a possible scenario I thought of for someone's question about how could they list the cars in a search warrant, etc... Sorry if I caused confusion, I should have been more clear. :blushing:

As always, all of the above is MOO! :cow:

ETA: I added a clarification to my original post, so hopefully it's more clear now that it wasn't something that was discussed by LE, but merely my opinion as to how they could have probably cause to list the vehicles in the search warrant.

Dylan's disappearance is as rare as it is mysterious. It has been more than 25 years in the Four Corners since a child of Dylan's age disappeared without a trace and was never found.

Never has a missing child not been accounted for in the Four Corners region of Arizona and Utah. Children run away from home on a regular basis and are sometimes gone for long stretches, Tanner said. But the cases have always been resolved.

Umm… so you guys moved here last summer. Did he… did he want to be here? Was he acclimating well? Do you think there’s any possibility that he just, you know, was being bullied or anything like that?

Elaine Redwine:
No. Absolutely not! He loved being here. He loved his friends. He made so many friends here. He loved going to Skate City with his friend Joe and all of his friends in our old neighborhood in Colorado Springs. ... but here… he loved being in the city – the atmosphere of what was going on, you know, around here, and loved being able to go to the Rockies games in the summer. We went to Waterworld, which is, I mean…he enjoyed that. There was no indication whatsoever that he didn’t like being here, and Dylan would talk to me. You know…it’s not like we didn’t have conversations. I knew… I KNOW … how he felt all the time… ‘cos he was not shy about telling me… how he felt. I know he was really excited to see his friends

Criminal investigation mentioned by LE on 11/30/12
I have been looking and will continue to look for article that says LE was looking at Dylan's disappearance as a criminal investigation very early on...

I also found the article where LE changed the clothing description for Dylan's poster (since this was a hot topic a couple evenings ago...)

Authorities also released an updated description of the clothing Dylan may have been wearing Nov. 19 when he was reported missing.

The clothing description included:

A black short-sleeved T-shirt with large gray letters that read “DC.”

Black basketball shorts with a light-colored stripes on the sides.

Black Jordan shoes with a white tongue and possibly white laces.

A blue baseball cap with a blue bill, white front panel and blue letters that read “Duke Blue Devils.”

They are the same clothes Dylan was wearing Nov. 18 when he landed at the Durango-La Plata County Airport, Bender said. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the airport and the Durango Walmart to piece together the new clothing description, he said.

Several forensic test results have been returned, and the Sheriff’s Office is working jointly with the FBI to review the results, Bender said. Additional interviews are being conducted both locally and outside the region, he said.
