O/T and so was Shawn Adkins....I thought they/she had taken some type of anti-anxiety pills that deemed the test inconclusive or something....

same thing Mark did with drinking Jim Beam....JMO

Yep. Iirc, they were turned away the first time they showed up for the test, high on drugs.

It's been a long long 4 1/2 months. But I find that still today, I'm sitting at 50/50. 50% probability that MR did something (although I don't know what) and 50% probability that someone else did something (and I don't know who).

Without proof that Dylan is dead I find it hard to insist that MR killed him, KWIM? I still haven't discarded fully the notion that he is indeed hidden. Weirder things have happened. Right now I'm thinking it's still 50/50 as to whether Dylan is alive or not simply because there's no proof that he isn't. IMO

Guess with the lake melting so quickly, there is a strong possibility that 1/2 of my thoughts will be ruled out soon.

I had high hopes earlier this year...with the fact of dad hiding the kids in the past. I remember when I first came to the conclusion those hopes were probably not to be realized. It was pretty devastating because I had gone from he's alive, to he's gone, back to hey! he could be alive! and then once again to he's gone. I wish I even had that 50/50 in my heart and my mind...

It would be illogical to think MR was upset when ER got primary custody considering he has to travel for his work. He knows he would not be there at times during DR's school year.

It appears to me that MR cares very much for Dylan and that they have a special bond and enjoy their time and trips together.

So you don't believe Elaine or Denise Hess who said Mark was upset when Elaine was awarded primary custody of Dylan?

I completely agree with you that it is illogical of Mark to want primary custody of Dylan for the reason you stated but I believe he was so I don't believe he loved Dylan. ER stated in her interview with Tricia that Mark was very upset when she pulled Dylan out of Bayfield Schools and put him in CS schools and he wanted the Judge to grant him primary custody even though he hadn’t consistently been with Dylan for years prior to them moving. Elaine also stated in this same interview that MR only saw Dylan several times a year and his children were not a priority for him.

If Elaine is telling the truth that MR wanted Dylan to stay with him even though he wouldn’t be there to take care of him, and I believe her, imo this proves Mark did not have Dylan’s best interest at heart and I don't believe his attitude has changed any. In fact, it shows how unreasonable and stubborn Mark can be.

Mark lost the custody battle for Dylan and instead of agreeing it was best for his son to live with his mother because she was home everyday, he fought it tooth and nail, and imo, this is why Dylan is gone.

When DH spoke with Nancy Grace, she confirmed that Mark was upset when Elaine was awarded primary custody of Dylan.

<snipped>

GRACE: Or one of the issues they fought about Dylan?

HESS: Not really to my knowledge until Elaine was awarded custody of Dylan and then Mark went and asked for visitation rights. That`s the only thing I know of. Other than that –

Note -

In regard to the Bayfield Marshals Office they do have a 24-hour-dispatch call number for after hours, non-911 calls. However, as I suspected it is not the Bayfield Marshals Office that handles these calls after hours, it is the LPCSO.

The phone number for the Bayfield Marshals Office 24-hour-dispatch line is: 970-385-2900
This is the number listed on the Bayfield Marshals' Webpage which can be found here:
http://www.bayfieldgov.org/services/marshals.asp

A reverse phone lookup on this number indicates that it belongs to the La Plata County Sheriff's Office and the location of said number is in Durango, CO.

ETA:
Seeing as we now know that after 3 pm, all calls are routed to the LPCSO, what time did MR speak to someone at the Marshals' Office? If the MO was closed, he would have had to speak with a County Sheriff, and as we know, he did not speak to the SO, ER did. So we are back again to the question of who did MR "contact" and when did that contact take place. If MR woke up at 2:30 and drove around looking for DR before going to the Marshals Office as he claims, then who did he speak with, if not the LPCSO??? The timeline, and MR's statements get curiouser and curiouser. Did MR perhaps call the MO office, and get an answering machine directing him to call the Sheriff's Office number, or 911?

So would this rule out him calling? The LPCSO does not state that he never "contacted" someone at BMO, it states they found out he did contact someone at BMO. So if calls are routed through SO they probably would have sent him a SO deputy(if he lives outside of the BMO jurisdiction) and there would have been a record of the call at the SO, so they wouldn't need to go through BMO to verify that he spoke with some there, or would they? So that kind of leaves us with he had to speak to someone from BMO in person. Was Town Hall still open when he went to the BMO? Could they have called someone on patrol to him? Or was there an officer there, maybe in the parking lot? Did he happen to pass a patrol man and flag him down? Or, ok here our LE is small and we generally know everyone so I have a couple of LE cell numbers as they are personal friends, did he call an officer he knew?

Just some thoughts in general...

I don't remember it being noted that Elaine posted on Monday on the FB page

another holiday without Dylan; my heart breaks for his family/friends

and his Red Socks beat the Yankees on opening day!

IF MR were to be arrested (and I'm saying if) and LE has everything but a photo of alleged crime scene some will still declare he is innocent etc. Just like CA and little Caylee. Thats what makes the justice system work. But I still believe MR to probably have some involvement and possibly some one else involved or knows about it. My opinion. It doesn't hurt my feelings if others disagree. JMO

and on the other end of the spectrum, if no one has been arrested or is even a suspect some will still declare a particular person to be guilty but imo - most people will think a person is innocent unless proven guilty.

OT slightly. I wanted to share this. I watched the IMPOSTER finally the other day. Soooo good and a must see for sleuthers, if you have not already. I won't give away spoilers.
During the show LE wanted to poly someone, so they did . This person PASSED. LE scratches their heads and says this can't be so they give another poly. This person PASSED again, twice now . Again LE is not satisfied so they give a 3rd poly. IDK why this person agreed to a 2nd or a 3rd, but they did. Third poly they FAIL miserably. So to me, I'm thinking WTH ? They can keep giving poly's until you fail? That seems ridiculous and what have they really gained with this info ? In my mind I'm still thinking they PASSED 2/ 3 of the time, so is that an overall fail? or an overall pass? It was weird and really got me thinking. First I'm very glad they're not admissible in court. Second, how can LE then rely only on that 3rd test and say this person failed? Of course I immediately thought of MR's poly and his results or lack thereof. I don't know. It was interesting and thought provoking at least and I thought I'd share it. I didnt' have a ton of faith in them anyway because I think lots of things can be factors in the test and the results. But after seeing that it seemed to put LDT's in an even more murky light in my opinion.

Jayce Dugard's stepdad was like that. He claims LE gave him 4 polys(at least one was given under hypnosis-I posted those links a while back) and he passed all 4. It does make you go hmmm. Why keep going with giving them if the results are the same(at least after 2?) It does make you scratch you head.

If Mark

1. didn't have anything to do with Dylan's disappearance
2. doesn't know where Dylan is
3. doesn't know the person(s) involved in Dylan's disappearance

then

there was an abductor in Vallecito on Monday and he/she only had a 4 hour window (from 7:30 -11:30 am) to take Dylan....a very, very lucky abductor

but that doesn't help me with trying to understand why Dylan quit texting at 9:37 on Sunday evening or why he didn't respond to R's 6:45 text on Monday morning.

I watch a lot of ID TV. Episode after episode, one hears LE talk about eliminating suspects with LDTs. Occasionally, they will feature a case where someone fails or gets inconclusive results on an initial LDT but that same someone is cleared by a followup LDT. People sometimes hide unsavory but unrelated details about their lives which lead to deception being indicated. Very rarely, it's shown that innocent people fail and guilty parties pass.

Proponents of LDTs estimate the accuracy at about 93%. Detractors would put the success rate at closer to 80%. Even going with the lower estimate of reliability, an 8 out of 10 chance at getting to the truth makes LDTs excellent investigative tools. LDTs are not infallible, but they are far from useless, and there are good reasons LE relies heavily on polys.

MR's statements are full of qualifying language such as "attempting to", "trying to" and "working towards". He comes across as evasive by supplying extraneous details and going off subject in his answers. MR's own words, coupled with his self admitted LDT results and his apparent failure to take a second poly lead me to believe he's being deceptive.

On the subject of deception, what follows is an excerpt from the MB interview.

MR:
All I need to know is that he’s safe and where he’s at, and how to get a hold of him, and it’s likely I’ll pop in on him -- Check to make sure he’s at where he says he’s at. Those things were important to me. You know… when he’s with me – it’s me and him, with the exception of his friends. You know… I know those are important to him, but … you know… I monitor what he does, where he’s at. You know… it’s just me and him. There’s not people coming and going in my life ‘cos everything I focus on is him and us being together spending that time.

MR's actions (and lack of action) on Monday, November 19 simply don't jive with the above statement. It's been stated by ER that Mark rarely exercised his visitation privileges. MR's ex-girilfriend said on the Dr. Phil show that she was present during a week long visit bu Dylan.

All speculations based on my observations and amateur research and all MOO.

I'm so confused that I'm afraid to respond to *any* posts at this point. If a post is against TOS, isn't it removed by the mods? If a post is still up, can it be responded to? I'm not trying to be dim, I just don't get it.

Thank you.

I typed out a long response to this and lost it when I went into the WS spin cycle. Now, I am out of time. So.... much shorter...

The big issue in this thread is being snarky with each other and discounting or belitting another poster's opinion/comments. This comes from all sides of the fence and it just needs to stop.

So... look at the tips I posted in the original post and REREAD your post before you hit "submit reply." Ask yourself - am I being snarky? Am I being sarcastisic and if so... will others see my humor, or be offended?

Double check yourself and make sure you are not being snarky. If you feel the need to be snarky - don't hit submit. Don't do it.

Thanks,

Salem

Looking beyond the lake today....when the snow melts on the ground, there will be a window where it would make sense to search again on the ground. I know after so much time, dog walkers and random hikers usually stumble over someone's remains but..would a targeted grid search on foot/ATV/with dogs be helpful in the spring? Where would you start? Should hunters in the area be considered a resource? I'm just brainstorming if, in fact, Dylan is not found in the lake. Ideas?

We have a detailed, formal Terms of Service (TOS) posted separately, and that TOS is what you will be held to as a member here. It's long and detailed because it has to be in the world we live in, and you are expected to read it, understand it and abide by it. However, we can sum it up as follows:
1) Be a decent human being;
2) Treat your fellow posters as the decent human beings they are;
3) Keep in mind that whatever you post will likely live on forever, so think before you press "Submit Reply".
4) It's a big world. People will disagree with you. You will disagree with them. This can be done with respect, and that's what we expect.

Was there snow yet on the ground back when Dylan went missing? I wish someone would take cadaver dogs all around MR's property. I wish they would take scent dogs with Dylan's scent to MR's house and see where it leads. Why wasn't this ever done? Will there still be a scent available leading from his home?

There was no snow then. As I understand, foot searchers circled the lake and CR 500 and 240 (aka Florida Road). No idea how far up Middle Mountain they went. IMO whatever dogs came did not track Dylan anywhere. I, too, wish cadaver dogs could be used around the property and into the mountains, if need be, or landfills.

The snow came on Dec. 9th or 10th and all large ground searches ended then.

I wish we knew if they used the clothes ER brought that weekend to try to track a scent.

LE has stated that Dylan arrived at Mark's house, so the search should start there and then move out from the house....right?

I think using the HRD at the house and surrounding areas make sense. But wouldn't LE have to use their HRD dogs on Mark's property?

I don't know if they ever did use a scent discriminating dog at Mark's house but they should have and as soon as possible. I don't think that any of Dylan's scent would remain after this winter.
How long will a scent trail remain?

It might remain for weeks or scatter beyond recognition very quickly if the scent rafts are few in number, as they are when coming through the ventilation system of a car. Also, some environmental factors--wind, temperature, humidity, and terrain-- affect how long a good scent trail will stay together. At some point, regardless of how incubating the conditions are, the scent trail will disappear. This is due to the very biological process which beget the scent trail: the bacteria feeding off the dead or dying skin cells complete their feast, eliminate their by-products, and go on to digest other things. So, it’s smart to bring in a well trained, scent-discriminating bloodhound as soon as possible after an abduction of a child occurs.

I agree. It makes sense it would start from MR's and move out. Is that what occurred though? I would hope so. I think it would probably have to be LE's dogs unless he voluntarily allows another's dogs to search. I really don't know how that works.

O/T finally watched Imposter. Crazy. :what:

Exactly. Only way non-LE HRD dogs could sniff out Mark's house is if he were there granting access.

I do not think scent dogs can pick up a scent after so long but cadaver dogs could. Also think that searches, even without dogs, would be useful.
