I would really like to know that La Plata SO has thoroughly checked out this guys routine and his whereabouts on the day Dylan went missing. How likely would DR be to get in the car with an officer? Did DR know him from when he went to school in Bayfield? I can see a scenario where DR is out walking trying to get to Bayfield with a broken phone and backpack, an officer he knows from Bayfield stops and says hey you need a lift. DR willingly gets in the car. Thoughts?

No one said it that I know of Ransom... I am just trying to see if this guy is related. Since Cat so kindly gave us a link to his story. I am just discussing this possible new lead.

I'm glad we finally have something worth discussing. This seems like it has potential.

Absolutely a possibility, and a plausible theory, IMO.

Now if we could find out what area he normally works patrol.. Is it Vallecito? His residence, if Ransom is correct, is quite a long distance so that kind of rules out him happening upon DR near his own home. But it is possible that he works patrol near MR's house, just wish we had a way to find that out.

Let's try this again. The guy arrested (not convicted) is a La Plata County Sheriff's Deputy.

1) La Plata County IS Bayfield and Vallecito.
2) As a LPCO deputy he covers ALL of the said county ... La Plata.
3) The guy arrested lives near the Middle School where DR went to school
4) Who said La Plata County Sheriff's patrol anything? I've never, ever seen a patrol car anywhere in all my many, many years of being in Vallecito.
5) WHY would anyone patrol in Vallecito. For what exactly?
6) Vallecito, Bayfield and La Plata is the boonies for most folks that live in BIG cities. NO ONE patrols.
7) Again ... WTHeck? Dylan lived near this "guy"
8) Note: Bayfield MARHSALL is being quoted here: http://www.durangoherald.com/articl...ssessing-child-🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬&template=mobileart

Wouldn't this guy have been checked out, once his "issues" came to light? I mean seriously, I find it pretty hard to believe that LE or not, his movements have not been checked for the 18th/19th of November.
When did his "issues" come to light? If just recently then have they already went back and checked his schedule/areas for that day? I sure hope your right and they are leaving no stone unturned, Clu. However with no press conferences and ambiguous wording in the press releases it is really hard to know if that is the case.

It is okay to sleuth this guy, isn't it? I wonder if there's any chance that he owns a cabin in the area they were searching recently.

That thought just popped into my head as well!

Another thought was the forensics that was done. Could technical forensics have led LE to this officer? Speculation only, nothing to back that idea at all.

Wow, poor kids in that area. Even if the two things are totally unrelated, those kids sense of security has to be shattered. I hope there is help readily available for them.

I live in the "boonies of all boonies" and we still have SO patrol. The article says he is a patrol officer.... so where does he patrol? In my county for instance (Not in CO) SO officers work different areas of the county. They have assigned areas, I would like to know where this guy was assigned on the day DR disappeared. Maybe he is totally unrelated, but I do like to look at all options.

From the link: Sutter was hired by the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 24, 2003, and worked in detentions and patrol, the release said.

Ransom since you don't wish to explore this as a potential suspect, do you want to share your theory with us of what you think happened to DR?

I never said this guy was not some to explore as a potential suspect. WTHeck? What?

I grew up in Vallecito where my dad had a second home before I was even born. NO patrol of any sort ... ever. What's to patrol? Nothing ever happened there until NOW.

I've never, ever speculated on any missing person's case since I've been here 4/25/2009. Not once. EVER. Won't start now. Not my thing to make stuff up/speculate. Nope, but each to their own.

IF I had to guess where he was on patrol ... it would be Durango.

JMO,but LaPlata county has it's fair share of RSOs, and I would think that something like this should help put to rest the idea that "this sort of thing" doesn't happen in the area. I know it doesn't mean this particular individual is necessary a violent predator, just that with his procivities he has been found right in the seat of LE of all places. You just never know.

I've been watching some old FBI Criminal Pursuit episodes in the past week or so - most recently the one featuring Jessica Lunsford. Heartbreaking - and it all happened so quickly and so close to her home. I am sure they stated that the local RSOs and their homes had been checked out and eliminated early on, but Couey wasn't on LE's radar as quickly as you would hope. I was surprised that all the La Plata RSO's were eliminated so quickly - logistically you wouldn't think that they would all just happen to have easily cleared alibis for the time of Dylan's disappearance?

In my area, smaller than Vallecito, the SO office patrol for drunk drivers, patrol to watch for break-ins they assist Wildlife and Fisheries and will hold illegal hunters or fishers until a wildlife officer arrives, they do drive by for areas where there were previous drug arrests (weed growing in some ones field or meth labs), etc. Of course this is my area, so maybe he does not patrol, I am just going by the article that Cat linked and Ransom linked, which stated he worked patrol.

Maybe someone who is somewhat local could email LE and ask them as a concerned citizen, if this person has been checked out with regards to Dylan. This is an issue that LE should, IMO, should address, if they want to avoid any conspiracy theories about protecting "one of their own"'

Now I see a completely different possibility of what might have been meant by looking to "the missing link." For example if the videos/picture of traffic caught the officer's car in the area and they checked it out and found something. Vegetation or something and now they are trying to find a place that matches. Probably none of the above, my mind is in overdrive. This is very coincidental though.

Great idea, maybe someone who is on Benders email list. There was at least one WS member that was receiving the press releases.

AND along with a RSO that lives close to MR. That guy was arrested/served time on CHILD 🤬🤬🤬🤬 charges. He's out now and lives close ... really close.

We've linked to him before.

I hope we get an update on the lake search soon. I know they are not planning to disclose when the search will actually happen, but I am certain someone will let the media know if they find something or if the lake has been cleared.

Yes he is sleuthable as a named person in MSM, busted for child 🤬🤬🤬🤬. Please don't post any family details, though. ONLY the named person.

BBM A number of possibilities have crossed my mind in regard to the part I bolded.
Say someone was seen on the video following DR and MR in and out of Walmart. Perhaps then a car following MR's as they left the parking lot. Perhaps that same car was then behind them at McDonald's. I can see how each of the people and cars in the immediate vicinity could be considered pieces of a puzzle.

I just can't find the puzzle piece that explains Dylan's phone going dark on Sunday night......*sigh*

I really want Dylan's family to be able to bring him home, whatever that entails.

If LE had any indication of a car following MR's, why not show it, or describe it? Nothing much LE has done, that we know of, indicates they have any real clues as to in what way, or even when, Dylan came to harm. I think they are still at the first stages, not having any real theories with evidence to point them in one direction or another.

I live in the boonies in the east and the SO patrol for multiple issues. Its their job. The police dept only has one officer and he works one shift only.
