We do not know who is being called in, but this Colorado group has a lot of pictures of dive searches that might help with the imagining of how the dive may go:

http://www.lcdrt.org/MeettheTeam.aspx

This is a nationally known group that is in Northern Colorado. I'm not saying that these are the divers coming, just that they may be representative of a similar team. And I'm uncertain if they have the robotics equipment.

For instance, in the 2011 album, there are some pictures of searching for bones reported found in Horsetooth Reservoir. They bring what looks to be a sizable group. But I don't see any dogs. So I'm now I'm wondering if this new group would be bringing back dogs? What do you all think?

I remember someone posting information and a URL stating that these ROVs are definitely capable of retrieval if need be. So if there is something in the deepest parts, and for some reason it's too dangerous for the divers, then it can still be recovered. There were pictures on the page showing pictures of how it was done, too. Can't remember who posted it though, originally.

I think this is what you are looking for, it's post #18 from Coldhands

I think they still need divers, but I'm certainly no expert. Maybe it depends on the type of ROV used(?). This document says ROVs aren't a replacement for divers, and talks about what the diver does.

This is the reference I was talking about in my post. Thanks for putting up the URL again... I didn't see it before writing my post about seeing it on another thread! :)

Thanks! I saw the one that The Cheese posted, and that's what I was remembering.
But I really appreciate that link you posted, too! I don't think I noticed that one before for whatever reason!

Five months next week. And we hardly ever hear a word about him from LE.

Hubby was in LE. trust me, that is a good thing.

ETA= He told me to add that the element of surprise is the most effective tool they have. Keeping a low key works in THIR interest. (quoting hubby, who is the smartest man I know. :)

I have seen it work both ways. Sometimes, silence means nothing is going on and the case drifts into years. I hate to say I felt this case would exceed six months a while ago and it looks as though it might. Holly Bobo gone two years tomorrow and that has the been just about the quietest LE ever.

Sad. Academically, I know you are right.

Still, in this specific case, a seasoned LE officer might see something in what is being released by the LPCSO that laymen might not. It gives me hope.

Still not 100% sure when I am within TOS , so mods please delete this, if it is not appropriate. When the news of the arrest of JS first came out, I questioned why he turned himself in. I speculated that LE had given him a choice to come in on his own or in a squad car. That led to wondering how they had discovered JS' internet activities. Which led to wondering if they came upon this in the course of the DR investigation. (Which I still consider to be one possibility) However, they did a large sting that involved many LE offices around the state and made several arrests in the first part of the year. The article below says that child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 was distributed by many of those arrested. After arresting the distributors, LE may have moved down a level to recipients. If LPCSO was one of the LE offices involved, they may have had the sad task of finding and arresting one of their own. Now if that isn't pure speculation, I don't know what is.

This leads me to wonder if he is a known aquaintance of any one involved, or affiliated with this case?

I went back to get the names from the article so I could do some searching with your idea or query in mind. The article only identifies 11 of the twelve arrested. The 31 year old person whose home they initially searched and ultimately arrested for assault on a child is not identified. At least I don't see the name. Odd.

I don't think that if Dylan was taken by this person, that is good news at all, since he was not found. And most people do not have a place to "keep" a teenager. I hope this man or others like him were not involved. It is worse case, for me.

The FMDR page has posted that they are waiting for several search teams to become available and that it will be mid-May at the earliest before a team can get there. A trip around the lake today by boat revealed nothing. But at least the ice is off the water.

Mid-May?? That sucks. I wonder why so long.

This has got to be agony for Elaine and Cory.

Wonder if LE will be doing searches before then....I hope so

FMDR post says they contacted several groups this winter, and now they have to wait for one of those groups to become available; everyone's busy on other searches right now, I guess.

I just get more and more curious about LE and the lake. This just seems to me like this is LEs job, and having an unsupervised third party come in to what may turn into a murder investigation seems like a bad idea.

Late night thinking and just MOO of course.

Hi all! I'm still here! Been lurking mostly.

Anyway I was wondering the same thing... Would that be their job?

LE has said they do not believe anyone is in the lake. The family wants to be more certain that the hits by the dogs were in fact, mistakes. I also wonder what LE's thoughts are about the upcoming searches; do they think it is a waste of time, or maybe they are relieved they do not have to sponsor more searches?

On the left-hand side of this webpage there is a chart that will tell you the current conditions of the lake itself.

The Estimated Average Water Temperature today is around 48-degrees. So that's an average of 10-degrees warmer than 10 days ago.
(Please note that this is an algorithm-based estimate of water temperature. It is not the actual temperature of the lake, nor all parts of the lake, either.)

It is forecast to snow again on Wednesday up there and be back down in the low 30s.

Quoting myself... You know - It might have been helpful if I had included my link when I posted this earlier...

Here is the page to go to get the estimated average water temperature, and forecast for Vallecito Lake, CO;

I believe the dogs. Something is there. What, is the question.

Did they say they didn't believe anyone was in there, or did they merely downplay the dogs' hits by saying that it could be a large animal, and that they did not know what was in the lake, for sure?

I think they wanted to calm people down in regard to the searching because there is no way they could be positive that there wasn't a person down there due to the limitations of their search.

It is possible, but very rare that the dogs were picking up on large mammals - like an elk or something. Especially not different teams of dogs, at different times, and multiple "hits". But, that is MOO in regard to how much weight I would give the HRD dogs' abilities (I think they're amazing).

There is also a really good chance that the LE doesn't have the money to hire the search team back up from New Mexico as well. Perhaps the insurance adjusters and lawyers assessing risks don't want to send people back down. (Just a couple reasons why the public would be upset with LE for not going to look for him sooner.

I just thought that Bender downplayed the hits to placate the public more than ruling out altogether the hits, or the lake itself. But, that is obviously just my opinion, and how it sounded to me...

All of the above is mostly MOO! :cow:

I think there are search groups that would not charge LE, TES being one, and they have sonar equipment.
