Why would they make a press release saying he has no connection? They wouldn't make a press release saying he has no connection in any of the other unsolved La Plata County crimes so why this one?

What unsolved crimes would that be? I mean in recent history. Other than minor stuff, I can't find anything. HELP. Tia.

I don't want to hope for one either, I just find it odd that both reports come out the same day, and wonder if there's something to it.

I guess we have to wait and see. The backhoe, though, now that is puzzling. Perhaps LE was looking for clues....a sex offender may have ditched Dylan's bag or other articles. And really, I do not want to think a father (or a mother) harmed their child. If a child is harmed, I would prefer it to not be by someone who loved him. Yes, I know it happens, but the evidence (as we know it) does not demonstrate clearly or convincingly that MR harmed Dylan. Meanwhile, I want that boy found. I want the investigators to leave no rock and no tree stump unturned.

by this map, you do NOT have to go around and cross the dam to get to the campground.

It's only 5.6 miles from the campground to Mark's house..

The backhoe was in case any tree stumps needed to be removed, he said. Investigators hoped to be finished at that site later Tuesday, he said.

so there are tree stumps in the lake.

I'm in total agreement here.

Is there a diagram of the lake and all the areas they have previously searched anywhere (with locations mapped out, like Mark's house, T's house, and other pertinent locations?)

The eighth amendment to the Constitution address's bail amounts.
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

When fixing the amount of bail for a particular defendant, the court takes into consideration several factors: (1) the seriousness of the offense; (2) the Weight of Evidence against the accused; (3) the nature and extent of any ties, such as family or employment, that the accused has to the community where he or she will be prosecuted; (4) the accused's ability to pay a given amount; and (5) the likelihood that the accused will flee the jurisdiction if released.

On the top of the list is the seriousness of the crime that a person is charge with. If the government wish's to raise bail for more serious offenses, the defendant would need to be charged with that offense first. Merely suspecting someone of a more serious crime wouldn't be enough by itself to raise bail to a higher amount. MOO.

Thank you, Ranch. I believe this is what Bayou Mistress and I were both trying to get across. :)

The backhoe puzzles me as use of something that big could possibly damage and destroy any potential evidence that could be found.

so there are tree stumps in the lake.

Stumps appear every spring (shoreline) and then get covered with water as the snow melts. Snow melts off the mountains brings dirt/soil into the lake. Lessens visibility from the oh so clear water later into summer/fall. JMO

I have never been naive' enough not to realize there are "many" things that go on behind the closed doors of a courtroom of which the public has no awareness....which is a very good thing, because I witness it routinely. This cop is not connected to Dylan. It would be reflected...in the charges, in the bail amount and by the fact that he wouldn't be walking the street. :-)

That is a bit strange. How could evidence be totally hidden under submerged tree stumps? And if it did, a backhoe seems a bit heavy handed in getting to it. MOO.

Do you know how big the stumps may be?

Are there also stumps on the whole lake bottom?

tia!

hello folks: lots of alerts on SNARK in this thread. Please don't do that. You can state your point without sarcasm and attacks. Thanks.

From MR house you don't need to go over the dam per your map ^^^ correct.

Coming from Bayfield/Durango you would most likely go over the dam and back up the east side to MM. I say most likely because to go up the west side of Vallecito Res and across 501 then back down to MM is way, way, way around, but I guess someone might do that? I don't know why, but they could.

Just generally searching stump removal doesn't show a backhoe as the primarily used machinery either. It seems excavator seems a more popular choice for that project. Using various sites and forums and still reading, but also think of the area around the stumps that would be torn up as well. Backhoe, IMO, seems drastic.

And remember -- when a poster says "we can agree to disagree" that means the conversation is over between those 2 (or 3 or however many) posters. OVER. DONE. FINISHED.

The rule is the poster that says "agree to disagree" first - gets the LAST WORD. It's done.

Stumps on shoreline in the spring are about 8-12"" dia. (or thereabouts ... never measured them. lol).

The lake bottom? I have no clue. I was under the impression the bottom is fill?

Sort of like on our property. We have many arroyos. Several we dammed up for the cattle/drinking water. Didn't work, at first, because it would drain out over a period of time instead of holding the water. Had a crew come in a put in "fill" and now they hold water until the very end of a hot, hot drought ... like the past 2-3 years with no monsoons helping us out and not near enough snow melt.

Hard to explain about the Rocky Mountains. Very rocky soil/base, but it is not solid, so to speak. Lots of cracks/crevices that allow water to percolate out. If you want to hold water .... you need "fill". Have no clue what that "fill" was. lol.
