On one hand, we can point out how he insults her, intentionally or not, that's how it comes across to some. And we can point out how she does the same to him (one example-Brandon is not her stepson and laying claim to that title was a slight to MR perhaps). And at the same time, we say they should talk to each other without a mediator. It's completely clear to me why these two people can not and should not talk to each other with out facilitation. JMO

How is it a slight to MR for her to refer to Brandon as her stepson? She has embraced his older sons so that her boys could stay connected to their half brothers. How could he find fault with that?

actually Brandon was EH's stepson for a number of years and considering that her sons have a parent in common its quite fair for her to call him her stepson.

Its no different to me saying I have stepsisters, even though their father hasn't been married to my mother for many years.

Is there a National Official FB Page for Dylan Redwine? FMDR is recognized by websleuths as an official page, but I am confused if it has some other distinction granted by NCMEC or something???

When Dylan went missing there was ONE PERSON in town that set up and coordinated the searches from her video store and worked with LE to keep the area updated using a Find Missing Dylan Redwine FBook page. So YES, that is the official page as far as LE is concerned. The others were offshoots later set up.

Wait! Now you are telling me that FMDR is endorsed by LE? I sure have missed a whole lot.

I would not say endorsed. But it was set up by the search coordinator, who was working closely with LE at the time.

Oh, okay. Sorry, it's the above quotation that confused me.

I find that the longer the case goes on, my memory is waning on early details. :(

I seem to recall an article in which Bender stated MR reported Dylan missing (I will try to find it), but I can't remember MR stating it.

Would someone be kind enough to remind me of where it was that MR stated that he was the one who reported Dylan missing?

Thanks.

ETA: Never mind! Found one of them. Press release from LPCSO

Boy missing in Vallecito
11/13/2012 By: Times staff report

Here is the latest update from the sheriff's office, as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday:

La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation of a 13 year old boy who has been missing since Monday. Dylan Redwine was reported missing Monday afternoon by his father, Mark Redwine.

Hi Cheese, just jumping off your post/link with statements from Nov. 2012 to provide some Updated info. from MARCH 19, 2013 (I'm pretty sure same information is in the actual press release from same date -- on iPad and hard to find my links from home).

March 19, 2013

Four months after Dylan Redwine was reported missing from his father’s home near Vallecito Reservoir, investigators Tuesday released updated information about the case.

The timing of reports to police of Dylan’s disappearance also has been clarified. Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, called the Bayfield Marshal’s Office during the afternoon of Nov. 19 to ask if anyone in the office had seen Dylan, but he did not officially report his son missing. That happened after Mark Redwine contacted Dylan’s mother, Elaine Redwine, to see if she had heard anything. Elaine Redwine reported her son missing to the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office at 5:30 p.m. that day.

http://durangoherald.com/article/20130319/NEWS01/130319508/

I wonder what TIME MR "called" the Marshall's office...it said he called "in the afternoon." What time is that? when he got home from his errands?...when he got up from his nap???... after he went and talked to T down by the marina (or after he went to T 's house and he wasn't home), or after he drove around the lake looking for DR and T fishing???? Or on his way to RN or N's house???? ....or before he got to RN and N's house in Bayfield or after he found out that they hadn't heard from him???.... Before he spoke to ER at 4:30 (or "closer to 5:00 pm per ER's statements)????

I would just like to know specific time MR "called" the MO to add to the LE established timeline shared thus far. Anyone know if this has been confirmed by LE?

IMO, it is still unclear from this article whether MR EVER physically went to or actually spoke in person or to anyone at Marshall's office or since they were closed at the time he would have arrived there. This article states he CALLED. (Also, MR never stated, to my knowledge, that he PHONED anyone). Does anyone have anything in MSM that I may have missed?

This update provided does NOT clearly state that MR ever reported DR missing. It only clearly states that ER reported her son missing. The statement in GREEN (i.e. That happened...) leaves too much room for speculation and it is not specific enough to know whether they are speaking of ER reporting DR missing, MR (not stated...perhaps inferred) or does THAT HAPPENED refer to MR's CALL? No matter what, it is unclear and leads to assumptions.

I'll try to find the link to the same date actual LE press release to confirm the italicized clarification above.

Since so many of us feel LE statements should trump other sources, I wanted to share this with everyone as it's always good for us to all be on the same page as much as possible and to have updated statements/facts from LE.

(I'm sure I have all statements related to DR being reported missing from the beginning, but those are at home on the PC so will have to revisit that later).

Katydid23 - you are stating this as fact, when it shouldn't be. I see that you clarified about LE, but you also need to clarify about DH. DH was not the ONLY person in the community that came out help. DH stepped up and took charge and began to coordinate. But there were facebook pages and comments that went up right away, that DH, as far as I know, was not involved in.

This is not to say that DH did not do an AWESOME job, because she did, she really did. It is just to point out that there were others in the community that stepped up to the plate to help, not only to search, but to spread the word.

There is also what MR said on the radio show--that he spoke to an officer after the officer was located in another room (paraphrasing). I think the only way to verify this is to ask the Bayfield Marshall's Office. Surely this tidbit isn't sensitive as far as the investigation goes. MR contacted them some sort of way, that is uncontested.

It's quite clear IMO 'that happened' is referring to Dylan being reported missing by his mother after she received the text from MR

Hi TxJan you've been sorely missed, good to see you back.

I've added replies in colour and snipped your post.

T: When did u first find out that --or is it true that all of dYlans clothing and his iPod are missing?

MR: well, to answer your question, with a yes or no answer, yes, thats true, but to clarify that, it wasn't till you know a short time that law enforcement was aware of what was going on and was involved and I know that they immediately brought in some dogs to start tracking ya know, his movement, and try to figure out the direction that he was headed, and the question was posed to me, is his backpack here? and I'm like well I don't know, let me go look for it because I ..that's not something that I was looking for…so you know it probably took ..I wanna say the first day maybe even two before it was determined that yes, his backpack was not here..my only concern was Dylan and what have we got to do to find him…and where is he?

Hi Cheese, just jumping off your post/link

(very respectfully snipped for space)

Good to see you TxJan. Yes, that March press release is what started the conversation. The issue that arose that I was posting about is that some people are claiming that MR had stated that he reported Dylan missing, and claiming that March press release was refuting Mark's prior statement(s).

So if you follow the conversation through, you'll see that I was addressing those claims. Hence my post showing that LE had stated Mark reported Dylan missing earlier on, not Mark.

I definitely am one of those who feel that LE statements trump all else! and agree it would be great if we could all be on the same page as much as possible.

You say you think you have all the statements about Dylan being reported missing - could I impose on you, when you get a chance, to see if you have any statements at all where Mark states the he reported Dylan missing? I can't find any, and no one has posted any quotes from him.

Thanks!

I am not trying to slight or discount anyone else. But I don't think it is a mischaracterization to call FMDR the 'official' Dylan is Missing website. JMO

ETA: I was going on the fact that her video store was made the SEARCH HDQTRS. And IIRC, LE saw it as such as well, and it as where the grid search map was kept so people could look at where the ares that needed to be cleared were.

So you would not monitor the National Official Missing FB Page for tips and posts from supporters and well wishers and potential witnesses?
Because I would read every single thing I could find about my missing child.

I would read the official FB page because it is moderated, and it is full of people who genuinely want my child home. However, I would not read comments under news articles because there are always a few that are offensive or disrespectful in some way.

Am I the only one who finds MR not taking note of the backpack being missing strange ???

He has no idea where his son is and he can't contact him , so surely he would look to see if he had take his bag with him ????

  • #356
Well if everybody knew, then please give a link to MSM or a LE press release. If you're asking me to accept posts and rumors on facebook as fact, I can't. If you're asking me to accept your opinion as fact, I can't. I'm sorry.

Mark Redwine, Dylan’s father, is the last person identified as having seen Dylan. Mark Redwine told investigators he saw Dylan early Nov. 19 at his Vallecito home. The father ran errands in Durango, and when he returned four hours later, the boy was gone.

Here you go, this was dated 1/24/2013 well before the DP show. MR was the last person, no mail lady.

Last person identified at that point. Identified being the key word (to me). We're interpreting differently.

Respectfully, that article does not mention the postal worker sighting at all.....
