Yes of course he is. And just because people get divorced does not mean that child is no longer their step child. My step daughter is still my step daughter and I her step Mom even though her father and I have been divorced for 3 years. I've known her since she was 5 years old and she just turned 30 and we raised her and my daughter as sisters. She will always be my step daughter and my daughter's sister.

Thank you for clarifying this. I don't have an iPod so I wasn't sure but figured it was much like having an email account where one could use their email account to sign in on another device or someone else's computer.

The main point I wanted to make with regard to whether or not someone could access and therefore possibly send a text under Dylan's account was that the iPod requires wifi which can be traced to a specific ISP thus proving where the text was sent from.

Yes if it was iMessage it's really simple. If it was a texting app then the person would have to download the same app and then log in with Dylan's info. I have no idea about tracing the ISP and if they can how long it takes for apple to release that information. I recall reading about it though in another case?

So to clarify, Mark seems to have said by the 20th, that the backpack was missing. But personally, I don't believe him when he says he never thought of looking for it until LE asked him if it was still there. That makes no sense at all. He said he was home fo 48 hrs because LE told him to wait for Dylan. So he is going to sit at the cabin for 2 days and never think to check if Dylan left his backpack home or not?

ETA: I believe that when LE asked him, 24 to 48 hrs later, Mark wanted to be able to say to them " Well, let me look, I had not thought to check that out earlier, but hey, Whaddya know, looks like he took everything with him...wow..."

According to MSM article below, MR knew on Monday, November 19th, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. (BEFORE DR WAS REPORTED MISSING) when MR came home from running his errands and noted that the Fishing Pole AND backpack were missing.

When he (MR) returned at 11:30 a.m., he said Dylan was gone, as was his backpack. When he got back at 11:30, his son's dirty cereal bowl was beside the sink. The television was on Nickelodeon. His son's fishing pole was gone. So was his black-and-gray backpack. A few articles of clothing were left behind on the couch."

I believe in Tricia's previous (lst) interview with ER, when asked about the text didn't she say LE didn't want her to say anything? Why they did said I don't know. It could be to ask her something about it, like maybe is this a good friend of Dylan's or are these Dylan's normal text phrases?

For what it's worth, I've listened to them before, I know where to find them and I still don't recall what was suggested as content. I do not care enough to go find it, because it doesn't change my opinion that no parent has the inside track into this investigation.

MR: well, to answer your question, with a yes or no answer, yes, thats true, but to clarify that, it wasn't till you know a short time that law enforcement was aware of what was going on and was involved and I know that they immediately browght in some dogs to start tracking ya know, his movement, and try to figure out the direction that he was headed, and the question was posed to me, is his backpack here? and I'm like well I don't know, let me go look for it because I ..that's not something that I was looking for…so you know it probably took ..I wanna say the first day maybe even two before it was determined that yes, his backpack was not here..my only concern was Dylan and what have we got to do to find him…and where is he?

So in one version, he figures it out BEFORE he goes out searching for him. And in his recent version, he didn't even think to look for the backpack, until LE asked him about it. :waitasec:

I agree. I think that it should stay in The Parking Lot unless Admin decides that it's OK to use information from The Parking Lot in the main forum.

Concerning the backpack and MR not noticing right away. Why would he have noticed it missing off the bat? MR didn't immediately think that Dylan had gone to his friends or that Dylan may have ran away. I wonder how many parents have come home for work, there kid wasn't there, didn't find a "runaway note", didn't think their child would ever run away at all, to call in LE and then when asked to see if anything of their child's is missing discover all their teen's things gone? In a few of those interviews he said he thought maybe Dylan just basically went out exploring. If that's what he initially thought, then why would he even look for the backpack. I personally think, in critically thinking about it, that if he had immediately noticed it missing, that would be more suspicious.

Dylan did not live there. He flew in the night before, with all his belongings in a backpack. If your child was visiting, and just arrived with a backpack, and they went missing, would you check to see if they had their pack with them? Wouldn't you wonder in the middle of the night if they had their cellphone and their hoodie with them?
