I wonder where the dad was Monday afternoon when he was texting Dylan. Was he at home "with spotty cell reception". So he does have cable (and probably internet) at his house.

I wonder if he was remembering back to a time when Dylan would watch Nickelodeon....sounds like a reflection. I would think most 13 years olds would be past those programs....

Thats what I was thinking he remembers him when he was 7 and they were all together.

Ok my almost 16 year old son and 14 year old daughter WILL still put on spongebob lol. Simply because they've been watching since they were about 2 & 3 and still think its hilarious.

But they also find potty humor pretty funny still too, lol... So maybe they're just goofy?

Potty humor never stops being funny. :)

Did Dylan ride that bike?
Why hitchhike when the bike was lying right there?
How long has that bike been left out there?

  • #887
I dont understand why couldnt a bloodhound or a sar dog follow his scent if he walked off?
Im sure they woud have his scent at the house and the dog could follow where he walked to like
down that road with his fishing pole!

The subject about the non existance of cell phone useage coincides with what another poster already told us. This is really in the boonies, imo. Remote wilderness mountain area.

Mr. Redwine said he wanted to spend the first night with Dylan and he knew he was tired from the flight and staying up late the night before so I can understand why he wouldnt take him the day he came in. They were also thinking of going to visit Mr. Redwine's family members over the holidays too so Dylan wouldnt be spending all of his days with his friends.

I have a feeling he pretty much looks just like the next guy that lives in that area. I really dont think there would be a lot of guys in suits ---ties ...with the latest hairstyle up there. People in small rural communities dont seem to be into all of that. They have an easygoing laid back lifestyle, imo. His clothes looks clean and his facial hair is trimmed. Just may like to wear his hair longer since its curly.

I remember when Mark Lunsford came out with his long ponytail and Steve Greone too.....some thought that signified something sinister.....oh and the fact that they both drove Harleys too. So how someone looks isnt something I put into the equation as a factor of anything...other than this is how they like to look.

I thought he spoke rather well for a man that had most likely lived in the mountains all of his life. I didnt see his responses as flat but do think he answered them clearly.

He looks like a kind of man that doesnt try to be someone he isnt. I dont think he is trying to impress anyone. He reminds me somewhat of Mark Lunsford when Jessica first went missing.

I am glad to see he has now hired an attorney. He should have done that the second his ex accused him of harming Dylan.

Also I just read that once before Dylan disappeared.......does anyone have any further information about this? tia

IMO

Same with my 14yo son. He's also been known to turn on the TV, skim through channels, and leave a cartoon on that he would never normally watch, just because he was busy doing something else (texting, on the puter, etc.).

So while the Nickelodeon thing stood out to me at first, I can see it happening.

Very sad to log on this morning and see that Dylan still hasn't been found. :(

Our 17 year old grandson and 18 year old granddaughter still watch cartoons on Nickelodeon.

Heck I know some grownups that watch it. :floorlaugh: One of our daughters is 40 and she watches them sometime. lol

I think it was smart of him to get an attorney. But I hope he continues to cooperate. My father was a defense attorney. Many of his clients were innocent. I would ALWAYS advise anyone who was under any kind of criminal suspicion to retain an excellent attorney.

But my father believed in cooperating with investigations whenever possible, as a way to clear ones name and solve the crime. If you just hunker down and try to block communication, you may not be charged, but you will live under a cloud of suspicion for years.

Le has said he is cooperating

Very well said. I remember when Breeann Rodriguez was missing and some were thinking her parents were involved. I never really thought they were. I don't know though, it's so hard for me to ever think that anyone could ever harm their own child. I really don't think it happened in this case either.

I'm sure you all have discussed this before, because you're always so thorough, but I have to admit that I haven't been able to read every post.

Why was it only Dylan on this visit with Dad? Why not the brother as well?

  • #895
My almost 13 year old would also turn on Nick. Not Nick Jr, which is where our provider shows Dora, etc. It is also a possibility that Dylan slept with the TV on, as one of our old babysitters used to do. All night. Not to watch, but just for comfort.

Nickelodeon?

The next morning, Dylan was sleeping on the couch where Mark Redwine now sits and where Dylan's blankets still lie jumbled. Mark said he waited until 7:30 a.m. but still couldn't rouse his son, so he told him he would return about 11. When he got back at 11:30, his son's dirty cereal bowl was beside the sink. The television was on Nickelodeon. His son's fishing pole was gone. So was his black-and-gray backpack. A few articles of clothing were left behind on the couch.

If we remember that Dylan is only 13, I don't think it's odd at all.

My 14 year old god son watches Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob, Kungfu Panda and several other shows on Nickelodeon.

One of my main issues with this entire investigation, and even some of the comments here is the focus on him being a teen and thinking and acting as an older teen would. I'm guilty of it myself.

At 13, he's still a child.
While children this young are now allowed to pretend to be grown-ups by many parents, most of them have the same mentality as a 10-12 year old.

From the videos and pictures, Dylan appears to still be into younger boy activities... swimming with his guy friends, video games and playing Little League instead of cruising around and "hanging out". These are signs that he was still pretty immature, and not a "typical teen" as thought of by many.

When someone that age runs away, they generally come home the minute they get really hungry... or even if they have food and shelter, they start missing home. They make irrational snap decisions and then have fast regrets.
For that reason, I can't honestly believe that Dylan left on his own.

I personally do not believe any of the stories about any fishing pole.

I do not believe the father's statements to LE. Any of them.
Mainly because he lied the first day, stating he had no items for the dogs to scent, but now is sitting next to the blanket Dylan supposedly slept under.
If Dylan slept on that couch, his hair would be SOMEWHERE on that furniture and his scent strong on that blanket.
Any parent, or decent police officer, would have scoured that couch like mad looking for at least one blonde, curly hair. Unless they didn't want to find anything the searchers could use.

This case is very disturbing to me.
I wish my cranial conclusion could be something different.

I have 5 teens/preteens. They all love Disney teen shows, I assume Nick is the same.

I've been following this thread and I find nothing nefarious about MR. Praying he is innocent and his son is hiding out (although I doubt it after two weeks).

You summed up my thoughts and feelings on the subject quite nicey. Great post.

I just don't have the same strong feelings of dad's involvement like some do. I have been wrong many times though, as I tend to have trouble seeing the evil in people. And some people are truly evil.

I think if Dylan was there and he went to bed early it was because he was bored!
If he had no game system no Phone and had Nickelodeon on TV he was bored.

I do not think it was because he was tired!
Teens say up late thats what they do.
Texting and FBooking all night long.

Yeah, it's not the nickelodeon, it's not how dad speaks or what he says. Those are all, to me, never things that are important or significant, because too much can be read into what are really just individual quirks and differences in personality, etc. For me I can't get past-

The four hour errands on the first day of visit.
The lack of cell phone use/texts/communication the night before (8pm, was it?)
The strange change in plans with no communication with friends about it
The suggestion about the fishing pole (wouldn't be so strange by itself, but added with the fact that he had plans with friends, why would he decide to go fish, etc)
The demand of the visit despite the fact that Dylan has a sick grandmother he wanted to see.
