My second most likely scenario is not really a random RSO, but a neighborhood 'friend' or an acquaintance of dad's. Is there someone who knew Dylan was visiting and knew Dad was in town that morning? It would have been easy to ride up to the home after dad left and knocked on the door. If Dylan recognized the person as a 'friend' of dad's or a neigjhbor, he would have opened the door most likely.

If that 'friend' hung out for a few minutes then I bet Dylan would say he was stranded and needed a ride into town at some point. Perfect chance for friend to say " OK, but I am in a hurry so grab your stuff quick and you can call Dad on the way."

I noticed way back in the early threads, there was a post about the house across the street having a For Sale out front. I wonder if there is a creepy realtor or a potential buyer who was hanging out there that morning?

Mine too. I just dont care about a new phone. Only because i dont want to be reached while shopping etc. People ask me my cell # and I say i dont know i will have to look it up I dont call myself :floorlaugh: I keep it for Emergency use and if i am with Hubby his is a biz phone and constantly going off. I call it his crackberry. Makes me crazy watching people text, talk etc out in public. Thats just me.

Oh Bravo...I am so glad I found a kindred spirit... I have a flip phone, by choice... I do not like to be interrupted when I am doing stuff...If there is an emergency... We have a landline that takes messages..

and I, too, think it rude when people answer their phones while talking/ visiting with me...

Actually... I am enough of an independent soul... That I can just walk away and keep myself entertained!

a landline is good to keep... Since they are more protected from some natural events...

Please... No one throw 'maters at me.. It is just the way I roll...

and I respect others' choices...

But I have been in cars with drivers who literally jump at answering cell phones when they drive... then fumble around looking for the right way to hold it... and checking who is calling...and I feel like it is putting me in danger!

sorry for rant... I know, and accept, that I am a minority...

IMO, they wouldn't care what she said on NG's show, be it a lie or whatever. She's not the focus of their investigation, so she could say anything and it wouldn't matter to LE. And I can't picture them calling her up while she's sitting there being interviewed on NG. In fact, I can't picture them even taking the time to watch NG, for that matter.

The "Bombshell" news about the poly was leaked hours before the show aired. And then pulled, but it kinda went viral for folks watching this case. You're probably right, though, why would they call her and tell her not to reveal a poly result that may or may not be true ... :waitasec:

We need something new .. seriously! lol

Has LE actively and physically searched the homes of the nearby RSOs? Why hasn't MSM updated us on that angle lately?

Salem

I know what you mean Salem... This is a person I soooo want to know has absolutely been cleared! If dad is completely 100% telling the truth than this means he could have walked down that street and I don't like knowing this RSO was only 0.5mi from Dylan's father's house! It scares me.(Reflections of Shawn Hornbeck IYKWIM?)

I was just thinking about Jaycee Dugard and how all the suspicion fell on the stepdad because he was the last one to see her .. AND he actually saw her get abducted and few people believed him..

Sometimes truth IS stranger than fiction ...

I really want them to find this kid...

LOL. That has been my experience as well. I did a lot of the driving when my kids were that age too. And it amazed me how many texts were involved. As we left the house my DD would text one frined to say we were leaving, then as we approached friends house, another text to say ' We're HERE.'

Then she and her friend begin texting the others who are meeting them, with our general whereabouts, and what they are wearing and where exactly they should all meet, and what boys they expect might be there as well.

It goes on and on.

The other thing that bothered me was that he didnt text his friend that was expecting him to get dropped off. My DD always let someone know if her plans changed and they were waiting on her. Not so much if her plans changed, because that happened every 10 minutes. But IF someone was waiting for her to get dropped off there, she would be in touch if she wasn't coming. And that is what is bugging me.

How do we know the friend expected him to be dropped off as soon as he got there? Why would he tell his friend he was coming straight there instead of going home with his dad?
Correct me if I'm mistaken but I read here this morning that the friends lived the other direction than the route from the airport to Dad's house, so it wouldn't be as simple as dropping him off, it would be more like driving an extra 30-45 minutes the other way. I can definitely see where a dad would refuse to drive that much farther if he had just driven several hours round trip to pick him up from the airport.
If the two parents lived no more than 5 hours apart, I wonder why they didn't just meet halfway to exchange the boy. We did that many times when we lived 8 or 9 hours from his ex. It was just a one day round trip for both, and a lot less expensive. Of course by then, my hubby and his ex were on halfway decent terms, so maybe Mom and Dad can't risk even seeing each other without sparks flying. IDK... just throwing out stuff. :what::what:

Salem

As far as RSO's, from this article dated Sunday, 12/2/2012:

Lt. Ray Shupe, a spokesman for the task force, said the group has broken into teams this weekend. One is looking into all information that has come into a tip line; another is investigating the registered sex offenders who live in the Vallecito area. There are nine of them in Vallecito and Bayfield. Another team is combing through videos and photographs taken along the road from Vallecito to Durango on the day Dylan went missing.

wow. I HOPE they talked to that guy first thing on Monday night. But it has always bugged me when they say an SO has been 'cleared.' How exactly do they get cleared? Are their roommates witnesses to their whereabouts?

Do they have to wear ankle bracelets in Colorado? Some states require that of level 3 offenders.

I think if LE thinks they have their man and that ER is a ' victim' here , they would tell her that.
I only have personal knowledge of one LDT within my own family and we were on the 'victim' side. LE told us immediately after the LDT that perp had ' failed it with flying colors'.

I am guessing that this perp was not a family member, though. Particularly not a parent of the victim.
I just can't see LE sharing the results with her, but maybe they did, with the stipulation that she not talk about it and, oops... she did.

100% Agree! I said that very same phrase in my head last night while contemplating Jaycee Dugard's stepdad as well! (Crazy how we can be so in-tune to one another's thoughts at times.)

Both the friend and the mom said that Dylan had made plans to go to his friends that night. But we also know that the flight was delayed by one day or so, so maybe that is why the original plans were for Sunday evening.

Can I ask a question to everyone posting?
It seems a lot of talk about the phone ' dying' on Sunday night.
Is that the majority opinion that the phone DIED?
I have no reason to believe it died , as in no longer working or
battery died. I just wonder what leads everyone to believe that
explains the lack of activity on it. TIA

I believe it was either destroyed or stopped working when it hit water.

What water? I wonder if it pinged in the area of a body of water?

An entire team looking into the RSOs makes me feel better. I know many here have pretty much already convicted, but I am always scared to do that in fear that something will be missed. I feel very happy that LE has different teams actively working different angles.

I am also dying to see the results of some of the searches they have done lately, but I guess we will never know until a trial maybe.

About MR's poly - what if it was inclusive and he isn't responding to requests to repeat it so LE "slips" and tells ER thinking that pressure from her & CR (or the media if she leaks it) might do the trick?

I haven't posted on Websleuths in quite awhile, although I try to read and catch up on particular cases every chance that I have.

This is such a heartbreaking case; at this point the statistics of this beautiful, young boy being found alive are pretty unlikely. I understand that we, the public, know very little regarding what law enforcement may or may not have in terms of evidence and/or person(s) of interest. A few things really jump out at me though. What is the likelihood that a child would just disappear from his noncustodial parent's home within 13-14 hours of being in the care of said parent? In my opinion, Dylan's father is either the most unlucky person in the world to lose his son on his watch, or he has some involvement in Dylan's disappearance. If the later is true, I hope and pray that Dylan is being kept somewhere alive.
