CO - Dylan Redwine missing from Vallecito ***SEARCH DISCUSSION ONLY***

Isn't that only by car though? You could walk up there where there are no roads but to travel by car have to go around where a road was built? Or am I misunderstanding? tks
Going by what Mark said (provided he's telling the truth, and Brandon could confirm it), there's a 10 - 12 thousand foot mountain range in between so nobody is going to be walking over that.

I'm not convinced that the recent search was in the same area where Mark described what happened with Brandon.

You can get to the recent search area, Middle Mountain Road, from Vallecito:

Middle Mt Rd

But the area Mark described to Tricia is only accessed by going to Bayfield and then to the other side of the mountain range, which, by my guess, is at least 20 miles as the crow flies, and a LOT further by car. Here is what Mark said:

"and this is what Brandon and I talked about…made a comment that it was kind of stupid to be going up in the middle of nowhere on the mountain range
across from the one on my house when there’s no direct route there. You would have had to go to Bayfield and then go all the way around. There’s no direct route over there."

So it sounds like Mark is describing an area a lot further east that's not accessible from Vallecito. Obviously Brandon probably knows exactly where they were, so he could have given LE that info if asked, but it doesn't sound to me like the area Mark described and the recent search area is the same.
If you look on the map, the road Mark's house is on does not connect up with Middle Mountain rd. You have to go back down into Vallecito, then back up Middle Mountain rd. There is a mountain range and a river in between (we have areas like this a few hours from where I live). There are not a lot of people who would, or could, travel the kind of terrain that runs from Mark's house to Middle Mountain Road in a direct line. From the Middle Mountain road side, there are dirt roads that are all over up there, so someone could drive in, and drop whatever. From there, animals could drag it anywhere.

To me, this looks exactly like what Mark described, which is why I shared the maps. I understand if anyone does not agree, no problem. There are so many roads up there, it could have been anywhere. JMO.

ETA:There is also an actual Middle Mountain, which is further away. That could have been what Mark was talking about, but it's odd that he mentioned Middle Mountain and a mountain range "across from the one on my house", and the search was on Middle Mountain Road, across from his house. Could just be a coincidence.

Question for anyone who knows the answer. Does lake water move west to east like an ocean current? If so, then is it possible Dylan fell or otherwise got into the lake on the west side nearest MR"s home and over the months a ' current' carried him and / or the items found over to the east side? I say ' current' because I am not sure if that is the proper term for lake water movement. TIA !
It depends on the lake. It has to do with where the water comes in and where (if anywhere) it goes out. But in this case, I don't think the items found were near the lake. At least, they were not searching near the lake. JMO.

Would LE not have a list of items to look for so surely they should have some idea if what they found is relevant?!

Thanks, sorry, I thought I read 5 items but my mind is spinning, heart racing and erratic breathing; I must've posted in error due to being in a dizzy state! Brainfart! I deleted my comment about 5 items, sorry about that!!!

No worries.... I understand completely... :therethere:

just interviewed la plata county sheriff spokesman Dan Bender:

- items discovered on Middle Mountain were important enough for deputies to ask both sides of the family to come to town.

- Elaine Hatfield, Dylan's mother, was notified about the items when she arrived midway thru the week.

- Mark Redwine, Dylan's dad, is currently in the La Plata County sheriffs department being notified.

- No reason to believe mom or dad had anything to do with Dylan's disappearance.
