It's terrible... i read Vodoo Donuts and immediately think of this... :(

42-year-old man chokes to death at Voodoo Doughnut shop on East Colfax – The Denver Post

Oh, no!!! I don't want everyone thinking this when I post the Voodoo donuts photo I downloaded.

Guess I'll wait a week or two before I upload it again.

At any rate - today's goodies, courtesy of Krispy Kreme.

Yes, I know what the case is about - just wanted to know if any of you here want me to post "when" this hearings will be happening along with LS's court dates?

I was so tired when I posted last night, I didn’t see it was you that had posted it, lol. You know everything about this case, I see what you were saying now.
at the time, I thought I was hoping a newbie. Hehe.

The DA's office said at the very outset the death penalty would not be requested. The reason given was that it would be commuted anyway. So there's no reason to pursue it just for show as a DP trial tends to cost more and have other difficulties. (Harder to seat a jury for one thing. Usually would have a separate punishment phase once guilt is determined. Sometimes, despite careful voir dire, a juror may not vote for guilt because of the possibility of the death penalty.) While the DA mentioned the DP as a possibility more recently, I've not seen anything to suggest there has been an official change in stance since the original announcement saying it would not be pursued.

Interesting, especially considering this is the same state where Chris Watts accepted a plea to avoid the DP.

While I'm familiar with the Watts case, I didn't follow it closely at the time. It's my understanding Shanann’s family wanted to avoid a trial. So that may have led to the offering of deal when normally one would not have been offered. It's also my understanding Watts had already confessed to killing Shanann long before there was a "Avoid the DP" deal on the table (as he was trying to shift blame to her for the children's deaths.)

Also, the legislation abolishing the DP in CO wasn't signed into law until March of this year and Watts' plea bargain was in the fall of 2018. While the law would allow TS to be awarded the DP since she was charged before July 1, I can't see that it would make sense to have a DP trial as there are costs and risks associated with doing that. Of course, TS's crime (assuming she did it, of course) was heinous. But so were the criminal acts of the convicted killers whose DP sentences were commuted to LWOP by the governor in March 2020. One had been convicted of killing 4 people and almost killing a 5th. The other two were convicted in a case that involved killing a State's court witness.

I’m not sure how that all played out in the Watts case, I didn’t follow it more than how it played out in the local media here in Colorado. But the key difference here is Tee will want to inflict the most pain possible on Gannon’s mother and father. Meaning this case is going to trial because to her this is her chance to show how she is the victim and by doing so she victimizes his parents again. It’s sickening, at least Chris Watts admitted it and spared her family. That’s likely not the reason he confessed but just the same it spared them. In the back of her mind behind all the “I’m being wronged, I’m innocent”, etc--and I’m just speculating here-she knows she’s going down for this. But she’s going to try to inflict as much pain as possible on her way down JMO

And you’re spot on about the rest regarding the DP here. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I hope TS has to watch her own trial from a remote location.

She's an escape risk.

IMO she'll go to trial just to get out of jail.

But unless Lily Pulitzer makes straightjackets and multiple restraints, she's not going to like her court duds.... truly it'll be interesting to see how they handle security if she's allowed in a courtroom. In full restraint, her defense team will argue it's prejudicial.... if she's allowed to wear real people clothes, she's a risk to everyone in that courtroom.

I hope that LS is moved only one more time. From jail to prison.

Absolutely she will drag this out as long as possible. If you followed the Arias trial, I envision much the same with regard to drama. She’ll relish the attention. Watts was possibly dumber than Leticia and certainly not nearly as street savvy. He confessed because he was easily manipulated during interrogation. She’s been involved with LE before. In her back of the head interview, she was already ramping up her story about the “abusive” tactics of LE. She‘ll be found guilty and locked away eventually but not before she inflicts as much damage as possible to Gannon’s family and everyone else who ever wronged her.

She will be dressed normally and without cuffs when the jurors are in the room. The guards will be plenty to handle her.

I have no doubt that she is looking for an opportunity to escape, but she won't get it in court. I bet she tries something at the psych hospital.

I agree. She has such an inflated, unrealistic view of her craftiness. She may try to escape while being transferred. She won’t be successful because any guard assigned to her will be aware she’s a high risk for escape. In addition to guards, they’ll probably put a stun belt and brace on her, under her clothing, when she has to be unshackled in the courtroom.

Jodi Arias wore her “librarian clothes” during her trial, but IIRC she was shackled and entered the courtroom before the jurors so that they couldn’t see her that way.

Gosh, I’m picturing TS in librarian clothes and glasses that she doesn’t need. They never suited JA but IMO, JA could pull off the librarian look much better than TS. MOO.
