It’s 65 degrees and sunny down here in Colorado Springs today ;)
Webinar restarted 22 mins ago! I'm using my browser to log in -- no app.

ETA: But not before talking to Judge Lynette Wenner (JD 11) personally when I dialed the wrong Judge (Wenner vs Werner)!

"...an eleven year old boy who has suffered horrific injuries." :( Discussing the pictures jurors will have to see.

I just read the affidavit for the first time today and all I can say is it's pretty laughable she's going to claim insanity. Not to mention it's a slap in the face to anyone living with a real mental illness. JMO

ETA: Also disgusting to fake and lie about a sexual assault.

I reread it last night, and the woman is sly and crafty, evil and delusional that her lies would be believed, but not mentally insane at the time of the offense or after. What she did to Gannon was horrendous, and all her actions and lies atrocious.

The Actual Affidavit

Judge making an important statement to let Jurors know that 4th Judicial District offers free counseling to any Jurors who have served on a Criminal case Trial.

Defense Attorney Will Cook starts off asking if Jurors have seen the movie Twelve Angry Men.

DA Allen just answered a potential juror question explaining that evidence and/or allegation that LS was "insane" at some time in her life before GS's murder or after his murder does not make her not guilty by reason of insanity -- the law does not work that way!

No, and we can't forget that the defense first tried to introduce the idea of LS wanting a partial NGRI defense for allegations of what happened after GS was murdered (i.e., disposal of GS's remains). At the time, Judge Werner stated he'd never heard anything like this before and needed to research this defense (i.e., defense by each charge).

MOO

ETA: add a link for reference.

The ORIGINAL from 1957, the black & white movie! He wants that distinction.

ETA: Cook says he wants a jury made up of one of the characters in this movie!

Cook telling the Jurors that they cannot think negatively about LS if she does not testify. Says they may not get to hear both sides if they don’t hear it from her.
Says she may testify, she may not.

He keeps pronouncing Stauch like it rhymes with Ouch.

Pregnant woman having to see the photos... it might not be good timing or the right trial for her to serve on. I think she finally said she didn't think she could do it. Discussion continues about the photos of death they will have to see.

Jurors having to see the photos are of concern for some of the jurors. They want to do their jury duty, but some know they can't handle those photos.

IIRC, one juror (Henry Fonda) disagrees with all the other jurors, he believes defendent is not guilty; and he fights hard to change their minds, which he ultimately does.

I'm getting annoyed by the defense's Mr. Cook and get the feeling the potential jurors are not impressed with him and his movie references either!

I'm also pleased that jurors appear annoyed by the NGRI defense. As I've mentioned before, a mental defect is not like a light switch. JMO

Cook said the Prosecution would like a Jury of Henry Fondas and the Defense would like a Jury of George C. Scotts.

He did go on to ask them if they would agree it would be better to have a mix .

As I understand it, there's no court held on Thursdays, but back in session on Fridays.

20 minute recess then Judge will bring them back to announce who stays, who goes.

Yes -- I understood the same both in the pretrial hearing and during voir dire.

However, I'm not 100% certain if Judge Werner holding to "no Thursday" during this process or not.

Yes -- seems darn LS put a wrench in it when she wanted to continue sitting on her stump inside the courtroom and not make a sissy!

One woman spoke 2 different times to say she and her family have had such negative experience with the Judicial system that she is not sure if she can serve, said she is bitter and it’s what she thinks about just walking into that building.

Judge asked her “ what if you look at it like you can help us get it right? “

I think she said she might be able to do that.
