Here is a portion of the defense's (ridiculous, imo) opening statement:

COOK: “There is no reason, it doesn’t make sense. It’s insane. Smiling photo, the next day Gannon’s gone. There’s no reason for it.

“She broke on that day ladies and gentleman, she broke from all that was right and made sense.”

Cook: “The person she was killing that day, that wasn’t Gannon to her. She didn’t wake up that day and say i’m going to kill my stepson Gannon Stauch today. No she was killing the demons in her life in the dark depths of her childhood, in her life.”

Cook: "Some people have severe mental health issues but they don’t go out and kill people. They don’t go out and kill 11-year-old boys, they’re stepsons that they had nice hikes with the day before."

Cook: "They don’t stab the stepson dozens of times, they don’t shoot him….beat him, burn him…it’s wrong and it’s horrible and she was not sane. And she will be held accountable."

Cook says if she’s found not guilty by reason of insanity it doesn’t mean she walks out of here. She will go to the state mental hospital.

Honestly I give the defense a pass on any ridiculous bs they try. It's their job, and they didn't ask to defend this creature. I'm sure they were laughing their **ses off the night before rehearsing this stuff.

If the defense was going with demons in childhood, they should have taken a play off the Candance Montgomery defense and gotten hypnosis done.

Since "she's been taking care of the kids for so long" this sane woman had the option to leave and file for divorce. Take her kid and go. But, no, she was angry and wanted revenge. She was not a battered woman. moo.
No way was she going to leave, taking HH. She needed AS to support her in the manner she has become accustomed. She was fed up with taking care of Gannon and his special needs (especially when AS was away)

Agreed, that Kardashian lifestyle she aspired to doesn't come cheap.

Gannon was a burden to this defendant. Instead of showing him the extra love and patience he so deserved, she was cruel and uncaring, which ultimately ended up in his murder.

It is like when LS peed her pants a little.

I think T was sexualized.... and uses it to manipulate.

Wouldn't be surprised at all if I learned she didn't have good boundaries.

I have often wondered if she took some of Gannon's Adderal or Ritalin (I don't know what he was prescribed)? The defendant said he would not take it sometimes on the weekend. I can totally see her doing that.

MOO
Agree, holding back on Gannon's meds provided LS with a little stash of her own. I definitely believe she took advantage of any med she could get her hands on.

Hilarious.

I have been in trial withdrawl too *hugs*

I havent been this interested in a trial since the Jodi Arias trial.

I think this one hits close to home because I had a premie (not a micro premie though) and went through all the PTSD that LH and AS went through. Not bringing your baby home, and constantly worried about his health (he was 3 lbs). Visiting the NICU every day. Its something horrible to go through. I dont know Gannons story but I had complete placenta previa and started bleeding, hence an emergency c-section.

So I have a soft spot for LH. She may have fallen into drugs, but shes only human.

And left Gannon unmedicated to manage the ADHD for which HE was prescribed the medication. And probably punished him for (mild) behavioral issues over which he had little control.

She's the worst.

Im just confused about the timeline, when did she get back from errands and how much time did she have to clean up?
^^rsbm

LS & GS got home around 2:30 pm and she had a couple hours to clean up before calling police to report GS missing:

Monday, January 27th

4:37 a.m.
Letecia tells employer her stepdad was killed after being hit by a car, she won’t be in to work

Unknown time
Gannon stayed home from school, Gannon likely alive morning of 27th

8:13 to 8:17 a.m.
Letecia takes pictures on her cellphone of Gannon sleeping in bed

10:16 a.m.
Neighbor surveillance video shows Nissan Frontier with Letecia and presumably Gannon leave the residence, Letecia leaves cellphone at home (locked between 9: 56 a.m. and 2:45 p.m.)

10:37 a.m.
Text sent from Gannon’s phone to Harley
“Tecia left phone at home if you need her txt me”

12:06 p.m.
Al Stauch sends text to Gannon, “Hey buddy”

-During this time, Letecia travels to PetCo on N Nevada Ave.

11:22 a.m.
Letecia completes her purchase, Gannon is not seen on surveillance video from store.

-whereabouts unknown between 11:22 a.m. and 1: 22 p.m.

1: 21 p.m.
Gannon’s phone responds to text from Al, “Can I play Zelda at least”

Al replies, “Not today”

1:22 p.m.
Letecia makes another purchase at PetCo on N. Nevada Ave

1:43 p.m.
Gannon’s phone searches “can my parent find my cell phone if its off”
-detectives believe Letecia wrote this

2:14 p.m.
Investigators believe Gannon was murdered by Letecia after this timestamp, at his residence, more specifically in his bedroom

2:19 p.m.
Vehicle returns, what appears to be Letecia gets out, and presumably Gannon, hard to tell by video

(ADT motion detectors show no movement between 10:16 and 2:19 p.m. in house)

2:22 p.m.
Gannon and Letecia enter house (Laina at school, Harley at work)

2:30
In an interview with detectives, in Februrary Letecia tells detectives she’s being raped by Eguardo during this time

During this time, ADT motion sensors show movement between upstairs and downstairs

2:45 p.m.
Letecia unlocks her phone

3:15 p.m.
Letecia claims this is the last time she saw Gannon leaving residence to go play with friend

Laina returns home from school, Letecia tells her Gannon is asleep in her bed, and instructs Laina to go outside and play

-- Detectives believe Letecia was cleaning up blood during this time

3:30 to 3:42
Surveillance video shows Laina outside riding her bike

3:41- 4:20 p.m.
Several texts message between Letecia and Harley and Al

3:55 p.m.
Al Stauch sends message to Gannon’s phone, “Hey buddy”

The message wasn't read until 7: 40 p.m., detectives believe Gannon was already deceased.

4: 42 p.m.
Harley, Letecia’s daughter arrives at home from work in White Jetta, picks up Laina and leaves residence

4: 52 p.m.
Letecia sends text to Harley asking her to pick up items from the store

The text reads, “Carpet powder 2 things, baking soda, trash bags”

5:14 p.m.
A receipt shows the purchase of trash bags, baking soda, vinegar happened at 5:14 p.m.

It was later found in Tiguan, Letecia’s car

It is during this time, detectives believe Letecia cleaned up the mess left behind by killing Gannon. (On February 1st, Detectives found blood presence in Gannon’s bedroom, the hallway leading to utility room from bedroom, utility room itself, the staircase leading upstairs, pathway to garage, garage area itself.)

6:55 p.m.
Letecia calls 9-1-1 to report Gannon missing

10:09 p.m.
Deputies respond and are unable to locate Gannon

Deputies observed Volkswagen Tiguan was backed into garage

Deputies go into Gannon’s room.

-- Detectives later compare body camera footage of room, compared to photos taken earlier in the day, and show Gannon’s bed with different bedding/sheets, moved against the wall

And it's likely that the suitcase with Gannon in it was in the back of the Tiguan when the police officer peered in.

Is Dr Dorothy Otnow Lewis the defense's expert witness? Im watching her documentary right now. Shes supposedly a DID expert.

She said DID starts early in childhood. If Letecia had it, someone would notice.
Not necessarily. While it's thought to begin in childhood, the average age at which it's diagnosed is around 30. Sometimes in retrospect a family member will recall something that didn't raise red flags at the time. But that's not always true. And DID is thought to be associated with severe abuse so close family may not be the best reporters.

It could have been, or it could have been in the storage room, near the sump pump, behind a wall of boxes. I don't know which I believe more likely, but I do believe Gannon was in that room at some point, already bleeding, even if only for a short while.

LS/AS testified Gannon was taking Vyvanse and most recently LS told investigators he'd been taking it since around age 5 and it worked best for him so they kept with it. But since she blames Gannon's bowl problems and accidents on the RX, you have to wonder if it was LS that liked this RX. JMO

This is something I’ve been meaning to bring up forever. I know there are kids and adults for whom this med works, so I don’t mean to put anyone on the defensive. I’m diagnosed ADHD and my doctor had me trial all the stimulant meds including Vyvanse for a while. That stuff made me high as a kite, super talkative, racing thoughts, nearly manic. (And sudden digestive problems.) It felt much, much stronger than the other usual stims, and I was on a starter dose.

So I’ve just wondered if LS was on Gannon’s Vyvanse during some of the more manic phone calls and interviews. I’m sure she’s high-maintenance and intense all the time anyway, but we’ve also seen her sound calm/normal.

(And then maybe she’d take her benzo to come “down” when she needed to.)

Me too, and I moved yesterday three hours away from my home. I can't seem to stop watching this trial. That's not a bad thing as I want justice for Gannon. Poor little kid, may he rest in peace.

Totally agree. It's possible both to believe that she was traumatized as a child and also believe (even more fervently) that she's a monster who shouldn't ever see a day outside prison walls again. I tend to think both are true.

The ME, Dr. Susan Ignacio, knew her stuff, and trained forensic pathologists and anthropologists are experienced in differentiating postmortem injuries from ones done after death. If the gunshot was done postmortem, or if she wasn't able to tell, IMO, she would have said so. The only talk of postmortem injuries was from the defense, who tried to imply the blunt force injuries could have been postmortem, perhaps when the case was dumped. She rejected that cold. When the jury asked if she could determine if he had been burned on his arms, she said she couldn't tell because of decomposition. The cause of death was listed as both the blunt trauma and the gunshot, because both would have been fatal on their own. The gunshot was what literally stopped his heart and breathing, because the bullet hit a very high vertebra and severed his spinal cord. This is all from my memories of the testimony of the ME from Florida. If you want to hear it for yourself, I think there are a number of youtube channels that have the stream uploaded from the trial. I will warn you, though, that the stream I watched, the direct court Webex, the postmortem photographs were clearly visible on the screen behind the witness. I think some of the rebroadcasters blurred them, but I don't know which youtube channels censored them.

The relevant part of the threads begins around here:
