Play.
He's pressing hard that she actually remembers and just doesn't want to answer him.
LS: "Blah blah blah... I've been nothing but respect with you."
LS: "If I took you to Gannon right now, you would still say, "that's not him.""
Next bit.
Witness: "You've spun stories and deflected questions your whole life, and it's not going to serve you in this case."
LS: "Gannon and I are very close."
He's pressing her hard about the blood. She's saying 'the people in the house' are responsible for that.
Witness: "Last image on your head of Gannon?'
LS: "Walking."
Witness: "Towards you, or away from you?"
LS: "Away."
Silence. Long long silence.
Witness: "Do you have any questions for me? Have I not asked any questions I should be asking you?
Long silence.
He questions her again, she asks to go to the bathroom.
Pause.
She went to the bathroom. He doesn't think they return to this interview room.
Witness says dodging questions and spinning stories a calculated move n her part.
Play.
Witness is telling her about the arrest warrant, about her being extradited. Asking her if she has anything else to tell him.
I think she asks: "Would you let me go if he's alive?"
End.
Witness says there was an off camera discussion in the hallway. She said in a very small voice that she and him should go to North Carolina. When asked if Gannon was in NC, she didn't answer.
He's asked if he has any regrets about the interviewing style. Looking back, he thinks maybe talking more about the QB angle, she may have disclosed more detail. The portions not played were consistent with and had nothing different to what was played. She did not disclose severe mental illness, childhood sexual abuse or abusers, or hospital commitment.
She understood the gravity of the seriousness of the charge by her ability to evade questioning going down the line to being damaging towards her, incriminating. Calculated move on her part. Did not observe personality changes, Spanish accent, or demand to be called by other names.
End prosecution.
