I'm a little late to the game but, did LS and her attorney get separated??
Like in elementary school??!!
Lol!!!!

Why did the judge mention her doctorate degree? I thought that was deemed bs?
The only doctorate degree she has she purchased online. JMO

I think she will. She MUST have her say. She’s been rehearsing a long time for her time in the spotlight. She’s too narcissistic to give up the opportunity.

MOO

LS has nothing to lose by taking the stand, and would probably use it to blame others for not getting her help! Oh, and also remind them they forgot to apologize to her.

And complain that she is tired, and hungry.

TBF. the Defense's expert should be looking for anything "insane" that can explain the defendant's behavior. Everyone has the right to a fair trial and their own expert(s). The Defense's expert has no other role than to propose an insanity defense.

The jury is obligated to listen to both sides, as we all know.

I think it will work best if Dr Lewis can sound certain of a particular diagnosis. The State has already put on experts who mentioned a mix of personality disorders.

Did anyone catch anything interesting during the jury instruction discussion this morning? Looks like we'll be heading into deliberations as early as Friday (but more likely on Monday, I'd think - since closing and instructions are going to take time). Could still be Friday, though. The Defense has so little to present.

IMO.

Still, the jury has to believe she was insane. She looks insane for sure, like a character in a horror movie, but having a psychotic break doesn't explain two months of lies to cover up her evil deeds.

Really, I don't care as long as they lock her up forever.

Now, I'm hoping we get to hear victim-impact statements from Al and Landon. It would be great if they told her that Gannon's death brought them back together. That would serve her right.

Al is married to someone else and has a new baby.

IMO.

Did we ever figure out if Dr. Lewis was actually in the courtroom yesterday?

I really think she's gonna take the stand.

It's her last chance to be the "main character" and have power over the people she wants to hurt the most, Gannon's parents. I think she will plan on using the time up there to speak to Harley as well, like have an outburst or something.

Deep down she knows her rotten bum is cooked and has nothing to lose.

You cant diagnose brain damage with a CAT scan MOO.
Could they just be reaching and decided to characterize a slight concussion as "technically" brain damage? (I agree with you regarding the CT scan. Isn't an MRI needed to diagnose a concussion?)

"Fake polygraph test", "fake security camera video", "fake degree", "fake marriage license", "fake tears", etc

Yes. LS' trial is going badly for her at this point and I think the prosecution will do considerable damage to Dr Lewis' testimony. LS has nothing to loose and she won't be able to live with herself unless she self-advocates.

I also think that her typical word salady, preseverating speech patterns are as likely as anything else to convince the jury she's insane. She's had a lot of time to figure out how to act insane, that's for sure. The Google searches alone show a person who appears (almost) to have some kind of severe cognitive/intellectual defect. Who in the world thinks you can look up drug cartel phone numbers?

I think she was panicked and desperate (because it reminds me of the silly things some students who never study come up with when they try to write their final paper half an hour before it's due - and it's been a project that is supposed to be a semester long).

For me, personally, to find someone NGRI, I would need to see a lifelong pattern of developmental delay (and IQ and other tests); or a brain tumor; or schizophrenia. In states that allow it, some juries have decided ASPD is NGRI (which is concerning - I wouldn't be able to do that, personally - well, maybe if there was a family history and the brain imaging studies show the typical markers of being "born ASPD").

This study found enough NGRI men who were found NGRI (as they were ASPD/psychopaths) to do a study. There were 101 men in the study. My point is that it does happen. I have to say I was a little surprised to see that these defendants had used psychopathy as their defense.

IMO.

I think the Judge did not address T's behavior with counsel because he'd earlier decided that addressing her behavior at table might itself create prejudice. All attorneys were present for his earlier decision, not to answer the jury question.

Cook knows all eyes are on T.

What attorneys say is not evidence but Cook (inadvertently, foolishly but not without having essentially been forewarned) is normalizing T, demonstrating that she is perhaps immature and disrespectful, she's doing exactly what the presumably perfectly-sane attorney beside her is doing.

Crazy, not insane.

I don't know what the defense will claim. But a concussion does involve brain damage. That's not a reach. According to the CDC a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury. As the link below points out, even mild concussions are serious.

Effects may be temporary or long-lasting.
