Lots of people have brain damage, unfortunately. For too long concussions were simply treated as meaningless unavoidable injuries of childhood and adolescence almost like skinned knees. Fortunately most people with brain damage don't kill or engage in other aggressive acts. But that fact doesn't mean we can rule out brain damage as ever being a factor in aggression.
JMO
This is exactly why I am thinking that Dr Lewis is going to focus heavily on this supposed brain injury to try and cement the DID

I hope for her (Dr Lewis) sake she has brought along the relevant brain scans and medical evidence of diagnosed brain damage

Why then are we so fascinated by mental illness and crime? Well, for one, we are fascinated by the court system. Watch TV—we are inundated by courtroom shows like CSI, Law and Order, Criminal Minds. We are bombarded by information about courts, some accurate, some not. There is intense coverage on legal cases where the insanity defense was successful—John Hinckley and Andrea Yates are two famous cases. Newsworthy coverage suggests NGRI can be counted on as a highly successful defense strategy. This presumption is not correct.
In fact, the insanity defense is used in only 1 percent of all criminal proceedings, and its success rate is only 25 percent of that 1 percent. Therefore, less than 1 in 400 defendants are found not guilty by reason of insanity in this country. A small sample for such intensive coverage that leads us to believe NGRI is used often as a defense. Based on current statistics, it is not and when used is rarely successful.

I won't work for LS either. IMO

I don't know what the defense will claim. But a concussion does involve brain damage. That's not a reach. According to the CDC a concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury. As the link below points out, even mild concussions are serious.

Effects may be temporary or long-lasting.
JMO
You're right. Reaching was the wrong word for me to use. What I meant was that stating someone had a concussion may strike people as "less severe" than hearing the words "brain damage", even though, technically, it's the same thing.

Here’s a link to a paper which cites research conducted by Dr. Lewis regarding brain injury and criminal behavior.

Unfortunately I’m on my phone and the formatting that I see is dense and a little hard to read. One excerpt:

Although not all people with severe brain injury are dangerous, a history of traumatic brain injury is more common among prisoners than the general population.2 In two classic studies of 15 adults and 14 juveniles on death row in the mid-1980s, psychiatrist Dorothy Otnow Lewis found all 29 inmates had a history of traumatic brain injury.

So am I understanding that according to doctor Lewis, not only do the majority of murderers have DID they also suffered from TBI?

Which one will she push as Letecia’s diagnosis this afternoon?

I had heard frontal lobe damage can cause changes in behavior and possible violence, I may be wrong though. IMOO
Yep it most certainly can, one example being Chris Benoit.

Although it's lie bags actions before and after the murder that sway me (and hopefully the jury) from believing that this was down to a TBI or DID. It's been shown clearly that she premeditated, attempted to cover up by any way possible to her AND malingered.

I wish Maria would have eliminated T for us. I did notice Marie seems not to care about murdered children . Just other bad people..

Oh Please, Dear Dr Lewis,

Please let us see the video of your ZOOM call/evaluation with T. You know, the one where she somehow has " Maria" come out and play...like Red Rover. And where she speaks with a heavy Spanish Accent. Yeah...that one.

Thanks,
Websleuths members.

I don't see any mention of DID in the article you provided. So Lewis didn't claim the majority of murderers have DID in that article. (I'd find that claim quite unlikely myself but the finding about the prevalence of head injuries among criminals has been reported by others.) Did you mean to cite a different article?

My reference to DID comes from our current understanding of Dr. Lewis’ research into DID, not the article.

I was citing the additional research she claimed caused criminal behavior- TBI.

Sorry for the confusion.

Dr Lewis wiki page basically sums up what she's going to testify to...

Brain injury (alleged) - Check
Paranoia (anxiety GAD) - Check
Childhood abuse (alleged) - Check

Sprinkle in a bit of malingered DID into the pot and bingo, you've got Dr Lewis' magic bag of tricks

I recommend the documentary on Dr Lewis called ‘Crazy, Not Insane’. If you want to see someone diagnose pretty much every murderer with DID, even when obviously malingering then it’s a great watch. From what the documentary shows her son writes everything for her now. Maybe she had him write this report who knows?
Not many others in the field agree with her, as she does seem very gullible and not open to the possibility that someone facing a death sentence just maybe could fake being insane to get off the hook.

Give it a watch, although it did really irritate me because she presents a lot of things as fact which clearly aren’t. Listen to what she says about Marie Moore then go and read the statement of agreed facts in the appeal she filed years back. It’ll make you sick that Dr Lewis would include her as someone she believes has genuine DID!

All MOO of course.

Feel like this testimony is going to ruffle my feathers so I’ll try my best not to post about it.

I'm still in yesterdays news, but want to post/re-post the screecaps from
Truth Prevails.

The Case Archive is updated to the end of yesterdays testimony and articles. I was finally able to watch some of the actual trial. So disgusting to watch her.

"Justice for Gannon" section:

Case Archive up to the arrest and things added from the community.

What is the jury make-up of men/women?

If it's more men, I think LS will testify (because she thinks she can charm them/flirt with them).

If it's more females, I think she may not take the stand.

Could Tolini and Cook have drawn staws to see who had to act giggley with LS as a possible distraction? Obviously Cook lost.

MOO.

"A jury pool of hundreds has been winnowed down to 11 men and seven women, who began their civic duty at 1:30 p.m. April 3 when the trial commenced with opening statements. Six of those jurors will be alternates."

4/17/23: Juror 12 dismissed. So now it is 11 men & 6 women. 12 jurors & 5 alternates

Thanks all for following this thru with posts and even some laughs. I have been quietly following along with random pop in's.

Apparently not!

(I think it was more that no school would confirm or deny). JMO
Other than the fact she murdered a child... she's an idiot, and she can't spell to save her life.
So, if I were running any of the schools she claimed to get a degree from, I'd be unavailable for comment as well.

We all feel as you do. Go ahead and post, as it will save us from having to do so. I think we all want to use our finger strength to place around Leticias fat little neck until she drops.
IN GANNON’S HONOR.

Just curious, is the defense team wearing matching neckties today? MOO
Not today. Cook is Gold and Tolini is Red.

Question.
I’ve been out all morning. Did the prosecution rest? Is Lewis up next?
