A bit too soft spoken for me to listen at the office though I'm trying real hard!

Oh my gosh you guys, I gotta look up when she was working in New Haven, my MIL, God rest her little crafting, house-decorating, hilarious and also mentally ill soul, was a long time patient at many hospitals and mental health clinics in New Haven through the 70's-2020's. I wonder if my husband remembers. Sorry, off topic:)

At this pace, I think we'll be lucky to get to the present day in Dr Lewis's life by end of day. Succinct she is not.

This is going to be as bad as listening to the defendant

Wow, not sure which of the two is more verbose: Leticia or this witness.

Oh my gosh, that question made me cringe! "Do you remember when you graduated from Yale?" I know she's an older lady but I don't think shes going to forget the year! Maybe she would, who knows, I get super cringey sometimes, I start imagining the possible awkwardness in the room and I can't stand it. Sometimes I tell my husband "please!! Change the channel, I can't stand it!!" At least I know that's not a real uncommon thing:)
Yeah it seems she's gone to several schools throughout her education, as most doctors do. My daughter's one and I sometimes forget the year she graduated depending on which university at one point in the process. And I'm not 86! But I am impressed how eloquently she speaks.

She is clearly a very intelligent and established lady, I just don't understand.
Her reputation in the psych field is just all over the place, she is astounding in some of the work she does with mental health and prisoner advocacy (which I admire no end) but on the other hand the majority of her beliefs are just outright cuckoo!

Part of me really wants to like her but I just cant

Well she and LS have something in common. Witness was asked where she went after that, has taken at this point almost five minutes to answer. She's a storyteller, I agree, but that isn't what is needed.

I'd just die if this witness uttered a yada yada yada.

She definitely has the rapt attention of LS.

This is rubbish!

What a pathetic draw for sympathy (by the defense) after the expert managed 3 hours in the County Jail with the defendant!

In my experience, a trial witness is welcome and encouraged to view the courtroom in advance and also request any accommodations.

The defense could have easily taken 15 minutes on Sunday to learn and/or address Dr. Lewis's physical limitations in preparation for her testimony.

And good on Judge Werner for the -- 'no moving of furniture in my courtroom' which I sincerely believe was intentional and directed at the defense attorneys for not making any accommodations in advance-- especially given the extended court recess this morning and the witness's early arrival to Co Springs. I know it’s important to document the doctor’s lengthy professional history but at 84 we could be listening for quite a while.
