I'd be interested to know if , in NZ, a stepmother would be allowed to administer such a thing to a stepchild. ( love the avatar, btw, ) It seems a terrifically invasive and risky procedure on a child, by an amateur. What was the father thinking in going along with this?.. or the kids doctor? . or his mother? or, . anyone , anyone ?? Where there protocols set up where she was supervised at this procedure?.. of all the elements of this murder, this aspect is so ghastly, that poor poor kid, it defies belief, ..

Why Letetia would 'volunteer' to do it, to a child not her own, even her own , is a whole other story, found in the DSM-IV , under fetish and sadistic behaviours, I reckon.

I'm sure enemas can be and are used improperly. Many things can be. But I also suspect there are thousands of parents who give enemas to their children and they don't have any sort of "fetish."

The Internet is filled with instructions from reliable sources for giving enemas to children at home. Here are two examples. It's just not an odd thing to do. The implication that a parent isn't normal unless he/she is embarrassed to deal with a child's bowels doesn't help anyone. (And that was the implication from Dr. L in court I thought.)

We don't know what GS's bowel problems truly were except that he had them and they were fairly serious. They were also said to be related to his prematurity. Al testified he knew LS didn't like dealing with GS's bowel condition. But Al was gone alot and apparently it was her job. I don't know that she "volunteered" either. But she was the children's caretaker when AS was gone. Who else could have acted? She may have misused enemas-- we really don't know-- but the fact that she gave enemas at all is just not that unusual IMO.

<modsnip - off topic> I would not think that the need for an enema for a chronic childhood condition would typically involve going to the ER. (While the above links as well as others do point out the need for the parent to master the proper procedure, those sources don't suggest going to the ER either.) Any child or adult could at times require emergency care but an ER or even a doctor's office aren't typically needed to administer an enema.

I think we have a very intelligent and thoughtful Jury. I am confident they will do the right thing. By Friday evening it should be all over. Tee will be gone forever and thank goodness for that.

Unfortunately she will not be gone - there will be a sentencing hearing for her.

Sure, forensic units in mental health hospitals aren't in anyway a holiday camp. You are confined with some very very sick and poorly people and watched like a hawk. You will also have a very strict pharmaceutical course and IF found to have the illnesses that lie bag is claiming, they would pump her full of allsorts which would make her round face even rounder.

I would be so disappointed and angry though as she is outright lying, and not only would there be a chance that she could possibly be released in the future, which is a scary af thought, also the big one for me is that she would have in a sense  won y'know?

She is a heartless liar and needs to rot in a prison for what she did to that innocent boy.

I completely get where you're coming from and I too believe she would see it as a win.
I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about though, the jury have asked fantastic amd insightful questions throughout and the ones to Dr. Lewis make me think they see through her nonsense too. Couple that with reports elsewhere from members of the public who have attended the trial and commented that the jurors faces mirror what ours have been at every turn, I think they know and I have complete faith they will deliver Gannon the justice he deserves, the justice he and his family have waited so long for.

She won't win. Gannon will.

In both the HBO documentary featuring Dr. Lewis and publications citing her critics, each opined they were uncomfortable with Lewis's interview technique where they believed she encourages the subject's alleged alter -- similar to what we see in court objections "leading the witness."

I can understand this criticism. IMO, I believe the subjects experience Dr. Lewis as sympathetic and easy to talk to because she does not appear to react to the most horrific details. Unphased, she just moves on to the next question. It's actually kind of creepy that she also retells details and seems disconnected from the words coming from her mouth. MOO

I agree completely. I got the impression that the good doctor was desperate to find the perfect DID before she truly retired. I felt she really wanted LS to be the real thing. Someone that would once and for all fulfill the life long hunt she's been on. Much like an addict seeks the bliss of their first high, she's addicted to the desire for the multiple that will substantiate all her theories and validate her work. I believe she was sorely disappointed that LS was just another faker.

Wow. Still not fully caught up. But I hope that the conclusion to the prosecution's argument will include the fact that guilt has been driving people mad for centuries. Is she mad now? Probably. I believe if she does change her mind that she will be allowed to do so. So far Judge W has done everything possible to make sure she has a fair trial and keep the judicial record free from appellate issues. Until the defense actually rests she still has the right to take the stand. IMO the possibility is great for a last minute effort to convince the jury she's what she says she is.

Yeah, she pulled a lot of the same stunts when she was testifying forty years ago. The documentary makes that clear. She's elderly, yes, but her performance on the stand was the same kind of junk she's been doing for decades. Not infirmity, manipulation and deliberate disrespect for the whole institution of a trial and the law. She's dangerous. I only hope this is the last trial she's able to exploit for gain. She makes money from tragedy, from murder, from the actions of very bad, very violent people, and not only that, her testimony could mean those people go free. There's nothing benign in that.

A few members of my chat group were concerned that the prosecution was tough on the elderly woman. It is my experience that demanding, defiant, narcissistic women eventually age and become elderly. So, I think whenever cross examining one who is protecting a child murderer for financial gain, Show No Mercy! Dave Young knew exactly what he was facing and did an excellent job.

I think she could legally up until the Defense says that they rest their case, which they will be doing Friday morning.

I guess it would be up to the Judge if that happened, but he’s been very careful to allow her everything within her rights.

I was impressed at how Mr. Young was successful at pulling at all of the strings attached to the reports and testimony of Dr. Lewis.

He scrutinized each and every thread of what Dr. Lewis said and proved everything was wrong. He proved all of this to the jury.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Verdict is read on Monday morning.

While Judge Werner lays out the reasons why he is sentencing L.S. the way he will, I look forward to his opinions during this.

Judge Werner will surely speak his mind at that time and I greatly look forward to hearing every word he says!

I appreciate everyone on this thread and that I felt that (I'm sure we all did!) that I was watching this trial along with deeply compassionate and insightful folks!

- She talked WAY too much about his bowel habits from the very beginning. I think she hated dealing with it and most likely took it out on him every time she had to give an enema, and every time his bowel condition impacted her life in any way.

- One of her made-up stories involved someone (Edguardo, I think) raping him anally. That has always really bothered me.

- She brought up enemas to Dr. Lewis. This is something I don’t think we (or probably anyone) outside the family knew about. Why would she even bring that up? That aspect of “caring” for Gannon was a big deal to her, IMO.

Learning that LS brought that up in her interview, and hearing Dr. Lewis’s comments about it, have given me a new fear for Gannon — that LS may have been abusing him in this way, too. It would not surprise me AT ALL if she was rough physically and cruel mentally every time she did this. It would also not surprise me if while hating having to do it, she got some pleasure in his discomfort and the power she held over him at these times.

You may be right. And she may have been rough. That wouldn't surprise me. And Al said LS hated dealing with GS's bowel issues so I do believe that part to be true. I'm just not convinced that home enemas for kids are as unusual as appears to be suggested in some posts nor do I think they are usually abusive.

With AS away so much, I'm not sure who else could have dealt with GS's bowel issues except LS. Perhaps he should have been seen more often for his problems by a doctor. But I doubt a pediatrician's office would offer routine in-office enemas for older children with chronic conditions on an as-needed basis. And while he was away alot, I'd think AS would have periodically communicated with his son's doctors. So I don't know that on the surface GS's medical care deviated from what was recommended.

Where is the Outrage?

As long as our court system allows a medical fraud to serve as an expert witness, those who brutally murder our children may escape accountability.

Fortunately, I am a healthcare professional with a good understanding of medical studies and publications. My concern is for the ones who don't and then sit on a jury. Do they know that Dr. Lewis's famed work is neither a trusted medical study or a publication subjected to peer review? I noted that she regards her own thoughts and assumptions as factual information. Combined with her ongoing display of defiance to court rules and procedure, this woman is a danger to our society.

No reputable medical doctor would sign up to protect the murderer of a child? I grew so tired of Dr. Lewis's repeated responses "I don't know" and "I can't recall" designed to fiercely protect the vicious murderer of an 11 year old precious little boy.

I appreciate this group and the many comments that help relieve some of the pressure behind my crying eyes and aching heart. May the power of God almighty prevail and bring justice for Gannon.

The witness doctor Lewis seem to advocate for Letecia way more than she should have. Dr. Lewis should have provided an EX-pert professional opinion, remain neutral and failed to do that. Watching the Nov 2022 video Lewis hands and mannerism remind me of Letecia. If I was looking at the hands only I’d thought it was Letecia. Almost similar identical twins and quite scary - She comes across as having an evil persona.

P.S. I am doing exactly what I said I would not do and that is put the doctor down. Even though I'm sure she hurt AS and LH during her testimony, she actually helped the case, though the case didn’t need any help. The evidence is all there. Guilty and Letecia CLEARLY knows right from wrong. I am so proud of the state of CO! Well done and I look forward to closing statements and more importantly I look forward to hearing the guilty on all charges verdict and the clicking of handcuffs on Letecia. Maybe she will be dragged out of court…. After all she’s drama…

Justice for Gannon and justice will prevail… never any doubt. And our bridge inspector Mr. Macon Pondor a super hero that I will forever be so very grateful to acting on his curiosity. I recently found out that the bridge is inspected every two years. Everything aligned up perfectly… no doubt that soon one of the most evil mobsters will be put away for life.
