COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KDVR) — Letecia Stauch was found guilty Monday of all counts related to murdering her 11-year-old stepson, Gannon.
The counts include first-degree murder after deliberation, first-degree murder of a child under 12 years old by a person in a position of trust, tampering with a deceased human body and tampering with physical evidence.

The judge who sentenced murderous stepmom Leticia Stauch to life in prison without parole called the evidence against her the “most horrific” he has ever seen and said her actions deserved the maximum punishment under Colorado law.

The judge, Gregory Werner, took the defendant to task for this strategy, however. He pointed out that few people with mental health issues become violent, and that fewer still commit murder.
The judge detailed Stauch’s shifting stories about Gannon’s disappearance on Jan. 27, 2020, which ranged from Gannon simply going missing to an abductor taking the child, and then, finally, to “Maria Sanchez” pulling the trigger on the child.
Letecia Stauch hid his body from law enforcement and loved ones and took it all the way to Pensacola, Florida, where she pushed it in a suitcase over a bridge railing. Bridge workers found the suitcase — and the remains — on March 17, 2020.
In light of all that, Werner was incredulous about the multiple personality claim. Sardonically, he pointed out there was no time after the murder in which Letecia Stauch came out and wondered, “Gee, why am I carrying a body around in my luggage?”

Not only did the defendant betray Gannon and his parents, but also his younger biological sister Laina Stauch, and Harley Hunt, who is Letecia’s daughter from another relationship. The judge commended Hunt for the courage to testify at this trial. There is no evidence the young woman played a role in the killing or cover-up, but some people still think she is somehow involved, Werner said.
“She wasn’t,” he said.

The defense pointed out at closing arguments that the state had no motive in the killing, but Werner suggested the likeliest answer is anger. He argued that Stauch — frustrated with her home life and having to take care of Al Stauch’s children — took this frustration out on Gannon.

I believe LS's attorneys are aware, and used the term "San Carlos" loosely as would most defense attorneys familiar with the State's mental system.
Since San Carlos is actually located on the grounds of CMHP where State staff is known to overlap, and based on need, women inmates undergoing treatment are sometimes located in "block 7" adjacent to San Carlos, and right or wrong, is often referenced simply as San Carlos-- most likely because most are familiar with the facility location (Pueblo). This is MOO based on what I'm told by personal friends employed/contracted at CMHP.
Colette, when she worked for @KOAA, put care and effort into sharing Gannon’s story from the beginning. Her storytelling was amazing. She showed compassion to Gannon’s family. Even when she started working for @DenverChannel, she never forgot about Gannon and his family.
Ashley’s reporting of the court case was impeccable. The amount of hours she put in to make sure every fact was shared from the case is unbelievable, just look at the notes she posted on her Twitter for proof. She worked tirelessly to make sure her reporting was good quality.

I had to work today, so I couldn't catch all of this live, but I am SO relieved that the jury saw through LS and found her GUILTY!!
Thank goodness justice prevailed and LS will finally face consequences for her crimes.
I was happy with the sentencing from the judge. He was a steady, impartial but compassionate presence throughout the trial. I don't think he was fooled for a second by LS' conniving claims and antics.
It still boggles my mind that Dr. Lewis was so willfully hoodwinked (imo) by LS. LS is not brilliant nor hugely intelligent. She's just cunning and manipulative. There's a difference.
The impact statements made me cry, but I did feel a catharsis for the family and community who have suffered over the past few years, had to endure Letecia's taunting, the "game" that she played up until today. We will likely never know exactly what happened that fateful day, but I'd rather just memory hole LS than plead with her further to come clean and give more details. She's not worth anyone's time or attention any longer. May she, indeed, languish in prison where she belongs.
As I watched the replay of the verdict and sentencing, not once did LS seem upset or ashamed by the proceedings. Not once was she moved by the impact statements or the judge's summation before sentencing. In fact, there were a few moments where I thought I saw a sly smirk, the kind a narcissist or sadist sports when they are witnessing the pain of their victims. That was the true LS. The one who enjoyed hurting those she was angry with or jealous of.
I am so grateful that she will be removed from society now for the rest of her life and can no longer harm any children. Good riddance.
