I'm wondering if any of the prosecution's witnesses were present for sentencing today. Can anyone prove the rumor true that Jonny Grusing was sited in the house today?

I'd like to know too.
How about Harley, was she there?

I don't know, but I definitely saw him right up back on the prosecution side through Dr Lewis's testimony last week. He's got a pretty unmistakable profile.

i followed RA ‘s live stream. His assistant was in the courtroom, but made no mention of retired Agent Grusing attendng. The courtroom was packed, they had opened a second room to accommodate those wanting to be there, Every single person there was in support of Gannon. Not one single person stood up and spoke for the <modsnip - negative name initiated by the grieving father> convicted child murderer!

Someone said she was, but then it didn't seem to be true later, seemed to be coming from people in the courtroom. So I'm guessing it was a false report.

I did spot someone that looked a bit like her at one point but that person was obviously a reporter, because she was seated with the rest of the reporters in that front defense side row, and when she stood up to move down the bench a bit, she had a laptop in her hands.

IMO, LS spent the entire trial attempting to make herself appear small and hide from all while seated in the courtroom. The only thing I could wish differently here was if LS was forced to stand while Judge Werner spoke of her horrific actions and betrayal.

ON THIS DAY: On May 8, 2013, Jodi Arias was convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

No way!!
Wow!!
It's true Jodi Arias was convicted of murder on the same date-- May 8, 2013. BUT... like I said last night, it was no simple BAM to put that demon Jodi behind bars for life. There were actually two trials. One to convict her, and another to sentence her. Even then, there was a hung jury, so the Judge had to sentence her. The jury had the option for the DP, but the Judge was not allowed to sentence her with a Death Penalty, so Jodi got LWOP.
The bespectacled murderess was convicted of first-degree murder in May 2013 for Alexander's death. However, the same panel of jurors that convicted her was deadlocked over whether to spare her life or give her the death penalty.

The indecision by the trial jury prompted a penalty phase retrial, which began in September 2014 and again ended in a hung jury after 26 hours of deliberations.

Under Arizona law, the prosecution was not allowed to present the case to a third jury. As a result, Stephens was tasked with deciding whether to put Arias in prison for life or make her eligible for parole in 25 years. (The judge did not have the option of sentencing Arias to death.) She got LWOP. Arias Sentenced To Life For Ex-Boyfriend's Murder
Arias was first convicted on May 8, 2013 and sentenced to life in prison in 2015 for killing her ex-boyfriend, 30-year-old Travis Alexander.

after a busy day yesterday, I fell asleep at 2:45am my time (AWST) from sheer exhaustion. at that point the jury was still deliberating, just 15 minutes later it was announced that a verdict was reached and the pronouncement of guilty made at approximately 3:45am. woke up early this morning, to find I was 1 thread and many posts behind (story of my WS life, always playing catch up).
spent a couple of hours reading all I could and wearing out the like and other emoji buttons. had to leave for a couple of hours but am now back and would like to make some comments:

  • LE, the prosecutors and the judge in this case were all outstanding, I wish all cases received the same care and attention
  • while I have seen far worse defence lawyers (IE I am looking at you), I sincerely hope that these two reconsider their unprofessional courtroom behaviour and never again bring a complete charlatan to the stand as their expert witness
  • I hope their Gannon’s parents, family and friends can achieve some peace knowing the role they played in making sure this monster will never hurt another child
  • I hope HH can find other role models and live a happy and successful life

following two major trials at the same time can be difficult, doing it from the other side of the world and many time zones away often means I can not watch or participate as much as I would like - so I would like to say a gigantic THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people on this thread for your insights and commentary, for sharing background knowledge and expertise, for transcribing testimony, for uploading images and screenshots from the courtroom and for archiving these, and for the moments of levity in the face of a defendant who radiates malevolence. I have found It all invaluable.

ps. sorry this is SO long

“I pray that we will never have to look at her face again,” said Landen Hiott, Gannon’s mother, during her statement to the court Monday. “Justice has been served today. … This won’t bring my son back, but I can sleep soundly.”

“Gannon, I never in my wildest dreams would have ever thought you’d be in danger,” Al Stauch, Gannon’s father, tearfully said during his speech to the court. “Or I would not have left you at home with what turned out to be your murderer and the last person to ever see you on this earth. I’m so sorry.”
