I apologise..I was referring to crisis situation..Haldol was wonderful..but as you suggested long term use had it's difficulties..including withdrawal if NOT compliant ...We only used it to diffuse..initially..But it alwys comes down to compliance with patients for whatever med they are prescribed...IF not taken..or self reporting didn't truthful..then we end up with a horror show and roller coaster....
I feel bad for you sweet pea..It's such a hard burden to deal with!! Blessings to you and yours...Whenever a loved one is directly affected..It often makes you feel hogtied....Hippa has somehow dis-engaged Family supports..Makes me upset and back in my day..felt very bad and SAD for loving Family at times....

This changes tho once person ( your family member) is deemed or categorized as unable to be responsible for his/her own care..Then voila...Finally; Family can have information and input...

Unfortunately, many psych patients are manipulative and can Fool clinicians...once again leaving Family OUT OF LOOP!! That's what I mean about frustration!!

Thanks. That is so true it takes a good clinician/ Dr to see all the signs and can see through the manipulation.

I feel he knew what he was doing was wrong. (just the "who will come visit me in prison"on the dating site shows he knew it was wrong) Therefore he would not meet the standard to be found not guilty by reason of insanity, Yes he has problems but not insane IMO.

If he knew he would land up in jail he must have known he was doing wrong.

I agree with the punishment except I believe like many others mentally ill people should not get the DP. Someone like Jodi Arias yes, she should have. IMO

I agree about that. I keep forgetting this is a DP trial. I agree that the DP is not really appropriate for someone like him where we know some form of mental illness is involved.

His illness played a role. No matter how large or small it definitely played a role.

Mitigating factors are diminished capacity.

We have a long way to go in this trial. It should be very interesting when we get to to expert psychiatrist, Drs etc..

Not 2 discredit the hard work of Peter Hunker or the @FBI, but we've now literally devolved 2 dumpster diving in the #theatershooting trial.

I'm still honestly confused on how insanity really is determined. I mean, I think you would have to be insane to kill anyone, planned or not, unless you are defending yourself.

BBM--Yes Maisiebelle, I absolutely believe that he will get the death penalty.

I'm with Mindmatters here... I don't think there's any chance he'll be found anything but guilty and sentenced to death. I've been trying to keep an open mind here but it's hard to do that when you hear about the meticulous planning and the massive destruction he caused for so many people. And I don't think the jury will be able to get past it either.

The defense is legally obligated to do their best to keep him from being sentenced to death. JH already offered to plead guilty, in exchange for a life sentence, but he was denied. This insanity plea is honestly the only other option available to them. They're trying desperately to make it work somehow, but I just don't think it's possible.

Well said Hatfield. DA should have accepted life without parole plea. With his sickness suicide is common anyway. I think his mom wrote about that.

Something I am thinking about, which we will hear more details from the notebook & the people he talked to before-but, I just recall him telling that ‘he wanted to kill people”. The notebook goes into detail about that & how more dead people will add to his value.
I don’t recall yet or even in opening statements where it was said ‘voices were telling him to kill people’. There’s a big difference. KWIM?
