So she hid behind a trash compactor. "I can't trust this person by the car," she thought. Covered nose and mouth.

Then she heard someone say, "Freeze!" She didn't come out right away when police arrived. She crawled out, showed herself.

Young is stepping down from witness stand. Judge releases #theatershooting jury for 90-minute lunch break.

Tomorrow could be a big day in #theatershooting trial. Brauchler says he wants to call one of 2 court-ordered psychiatrists who examined JH

Brauchler says he wants to show jurors more than 20 hours of video shot during psychiatrist's examination. He wants to show in segments

Defense attorney Dan King objects to this method. He doesn't want it played out piecemeal. Wants jury to see in entirety

Dr. Reed was a psychiatrist who interviewed JH after his arrest? I wouldn't "trust" it to be authentic, he could be play acting. I wonder if there's any recordings of JH or notes written by his psychiatrist BEFORE arrest.

#TheaterShooting: Defense attorney Dan King wants the videotaped interviews between the gunman and Dr. Reed to be played in their entirety.

Prosecution argues that the 22 hours of interviews are not continuous - they are segments taped over several days. Prosecution says it would like to break up the video according to the court's schedule.
DA George Brauchler: "Your Honor, this is our case."

I don't know..why do they have to play the video? 22 hours? Good Grief.

They are saying it will take about 5 days.

Wow... Pretty strange

Please....this is the kind of bullsh$t smart kids use to justify their actions. With teenage boys its usually $ex, not murder. Other than the "I want to kill everyone" He sounds just like every mal-adjusted engineering student I ever met. NOT special... rant over

I think I read somewhere that Dr. Fenton's notes will be brought in because Doc/Patient confidentiality is tossed out when Insanity Defense is used.

Someone correct me if I am wrong?

she decided not to run to the lobby because she was worried that #theatershooting gunman had gone there. Instead she fled thru bottom exit.

That's when she saw a man standing next to a white car. Standing by driver's side. Couldn't see any guns,

she looked for somewhere else to go. "i didn't think it was safe to run past him." she was scared.

She thought there was a gunman in the lobby and now the guy in the parking lot was "weirding me out."

Just wondering why they wouldn't just question the Dr. about his interviews with JH. It just seems more practical to question..then cross..and question again if necessary rather than watch 22 hours of video first.

I agree. King has the right way to deal with this, IMO. First win I want the DT to have!

I still don't understand WHY the court/judicial system hasn't adopted the ability for juror's to declare "GUILTY BUT INSANE" which would place them into a mental hospital facility and IF deemed sane..then goes to prison to serve out the rest of his sentence. The way it is now..Not Guilty by reason of insanity means those who are malingering and gets away with it can miraculously become sane and be set free back into society.

The actually truly Insane, like say Andrea Yates..She will never get out from that mental Facility for the rest of her life..but someone like JH could easily act normal when it suits him and obviously has fooled a boatload of people throughout his life Since he says he's always been fascinated in Mass Killing since a young child..So He's could easily manipulate the system and get back out pretty quick if Insanity defence works here...

Sorry for ramble, but have been muddling this over in my head for many years

Re BBM

I have never even thought of it that way and this brings up some interesting points.

Why should people when finally "fixed" get to come out in society when truly insane people have to stay in a facility their whole life.

The whole defense strategy of pleading "innocent by reason of insanity" is very confusing.

Maybe what the courts should do is eliminate that as a valid plea and change it to a plea of "Guilty by Reason of Insanity" where a person could plead guilty but insane and then the punishment could be either "Life in Facility W/O chance of being released" OR "Life in Facility WITH chance of being released" ?

Wouldnt that be closer to LWOP OR Life with chance of Parole.

Does anyone else remember reading that JH only starting acting 'crazy' after being held in jail for 3 months. Before that he was apparently a model prisoner.

Court is back in session. Judge will allow Brauchler to break up the 22 hours of video of psychiatrist interviewing JH

Judge says "it's a lot to ask of jurors" to pay attention during a 22-hour video. Six hours a day of video would take four days.
