ETA - and yes, gun shot residue tests were done on his clothes and they all tested positive.
I haven't seen any evidence that Holmes' clothes were analyzed for GSR, but GSR was apparently found on his gloves, gas mask, and hands:

Crowe analyzed the
gas mask for gun shot residue. She found particles of gun shot residue on it
--JH's
gloves were tested also...they had particles of gun shot residue

Emily Sullivan Gibson, lab tech for Professor Mark Dell'Acqua at CU.
J: did GSR on JH test positive on all 3 samples?
A: 2
hands positive, face didn't
Now normally this would be considered to be ironclad evidence, but the techs were curiously reticent in claiming that this proved that Holmes had actually fired a weapon:

Later, a Colorado Bureau of Investigation analyst testified that swabs of Holmes' face and hands, as well as a gas mask and a pair of gloves taken off of him, tested positive for particles typically associated with gunshot residue. But, under cross-examination, she said such a finding
cannot prove that someone actually fired a gun or was even nearby when one was shot.

CBI forensic scientist Carol Crowe states that she can confirm the presence of gunshot residue, but
can't tell whether the item was near a gun that fired or came into contact with gunshot residue.

Crowe testified that her equipment drifted
out of calibration while she was testing the samples, but she said the results were still acceptable.
Was this reticence due to only small or trace amounts of GSR being found, when a huge amount should have been found after the suspect fired at least 76 rounds? Or did the techs doubt their own findings due to equipment that was "out of calibration," hence making the results worthless?
