What about when I transcribe what I hear like I did that one day (& hope to do again soon, you guys)? If I transcribe verbatim or I summarize what's being said in court, that's okay... right?

I think he meant that the DA tried to call the witness before and she wasn't there. So him standing again and calling her was like déjà vu.
