The only diagnosis I'm aware of being mentioned is schizophrenia and only by his defense team (in their opening statement).

I can post tweets whenever....Love you guys.....totally ready to have a healthy debate and hear everyone's experiences. My only concern about wishing him in a psych ward is that he will go free.

I'm sorry that you felt nauseated by the comments you read. I was one of the people making the comments. I don't feel sorry for JH. I was trying to say that IF he is severely mentally ill its sad because he isn't functioning normally. IF his illnesses contributed to what he did then its an awful thing. But if he was sane and knew right from wrong then its a totally different matter. Mental illness doesn't always equal insane.

We need to hear all the evidence before we can make a judgement.

(My opinion only).

Same for most killers....even the most vile, Jodi Arias. She was diagnosed as having a mental illness. I didn't see much, if any, sympathy for her. But, she wasn't claiming insanity. Maybe that's the difference. This gunman is trying to make himself look and sound pitiful....

In real life people expect you to say stuff. He was fidgety, fearful, not wanting to be in public with people

BBM- this is a good summary. So many are saying Autism, Asperger's, bi-polar, etc. We have to remember, he was not diagnosed with any of these! We need to remember the diagnosis that was given, which according to the defense is 'on the schizophrenia spectrum' & IF I remember, depression, not full on schizophrenia, to where they have visual & auditory hallucinations. So I think we should just go with what he was diagnosed with & wait to hear all the doctors testimony.

I'm sure we are definitely going to hear quite a few versions of what dx they think he has, based on what doctor is testifying. However, There isn't actually a schizophrenia spectrum like there is with autism. You don't necessarily have to be experiencing hallucinations either. To meet the requirements in the DSM-5, you do have to have had the listed symptoms for at least 6 months for it to be officially diagnosed as schizophrenia. Schizophreniform disorder refers to these symptoms affecting the person for at least a month. So really, the specificity of it refers to the duration of symptoms. But there isn't a "full blown" or "not full blown" diagnoses of schizophrenia.

Obviously I cannot say for sure what he has and am speculating with everyone else, but I would be really surprised if it wasn't schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. Especially after learning he has blood relatives with the disease.
