It's too bad he wasn't on these prior to the shootings. He should have never been on the SSRI. He even mentioned in the notebook how it caused unwanted mania that took away his fear from people. That's what kept him at bay before. If you google SSRI stories. So many violent killers have been on these. Most recent was the pilot from flight 320. He had been seeing a psychiatrist for depression. JH should have only been on mood stabilizer and antipsychotics not SSRI

He is actually still on an SSRI now. But he is on an antipsychotic as well, unlike before. It's hard for me to blame the doctor for prescribing the SSRI if he sought treatment for depression/anxiety, as SSRIs are definitely the first line of drugs used. I'm really interested to find out how often he saw her after it was first prescribed. And what happened for her to alert campus security.

I really like posting here and sharing this trial with other people. We are from a wide range of backgrounds..... some with experience of mental illness and maybe some without. We all have different opinions and the great thing about this forum is that we've been able to put our point of view across. I feel as if we have been able to agree to disagree on things without arguing or getting heated.

I believe he told Dr Fenton he wanted to kill people. She told the campus police and they asked Fenton if she wanted to put him on a 5150 psychiatric hold and she said no because he had quit school.

BBM- this is a good summary. So many are saying Autism, Asperger's, bi-polar, etc. We have to remember, he was not diagnosed with any of these! We need to remember the diagnosis that was given, which according to the defense is 'on the schizophrenia spectrum' & IF I remember, depression, not full on schizophrenia, to where they have visual & auditory hallucinations. So I think we should just go with what he was diagnosed with & wait to hear all the doctors testimony.

Reid - What would JH do in this situation?

JH- Flee

JH - Not physical fight. Verbal. Scruffs as a kid, not often

JH says he’s roughly been in “wrestling” flight - 2 or 3x. Worst one - can’t recall. He was a kid
Maybe 10 last time it happened.

JH says he never got beat up, never ran away from fight. Never threaten someone who ran from him

In jail - verbal: They say "Baby killer”(other inmates

He has no contact with other inmates, they say it to him when he’s going from point A to B
Usually happens in his cell with cleaning staff yelling stuff while he is in his cell

I'd also like to know how many times he visited her..and if his behavior changed in a marked way. Sometimes doctors will only prescribe 1 week of meds, like an SSRI, to a patient they feel is at risk so they must check back weekly. That way they can assess the patient for side effects like it sounds he may have been experiencing. I wonder if she gave him any reason to be concerned initially.

Was he diagnosed with Autism? Aspergers? Bipolar? Schizophrenia? Any of these that people are commenting on? Not just here....live video blog, also.

No, he wasn't! Per the defense, diagnosis was on the 'schizophrenia spectrum' & I think depression. Not full schizophrenia to where there is/was visual & auditory hallucinations. I posted earlier that we must remember this was the diagnosis & wait for all the docs testimonies.
