But there was also the high-profile baby murder in that general spot. Was that coincidence?

probably not, now knowing AS' morbid fascination as well as his being a native/local.
he surely knew the emotional effects of the areas where he left things (haunted mine shaft, etc)

Ohhh, I hope they don't release Mom's phone call. I can't see what what the benefit would be. I suppose it falls under FOIA though...it just doesn't seems right. The poor Mom.

Not only that, it seems like too much info, almost, if there is in fact a trial, though maybe I am being influenced by following recent cases in Australia and Wales.

Old as in hours, maybe new depending on when you last caught up though.

At this juncture, anything over 30 minutes is "old", and I just got home after being gone for several hours. Wasn't reported when I last checked about 4pm or so PDT, and I still can't find a dang thing in media to support that claim. Missed the 1st few minutes of their 10pm news webcast.

I can feel loads of compassion for the child he was before when whatever caused him to go so horribly off the rails began. I feel no compassion for the murderous, disturbed young man he became. I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and never ever sees the light of day.

:twocents:

Just to be clear, feeling compassion for him does not mean I think he should be walking the streets.

I do believe that he is in some way mentally ill or mentally broken or however one visualises someone's mind that is not healthy. Part of the tragedy is that there is, so far as I can see, no treatment or cure that can be shown to be effective.

The best we can do, as a society, is to put him where he cannot continue such behaviour.

I don't want him tortured, I don't want him to be treated the way he treated Jessica but I do want him to be put away for the safety of everyone else. I wish that conditions in penitentiaries in this country were much better but for now, it is what it is. It's more important to protect society.

This one says "we have confirmed..."' but doesn't say who they confirmed it with, so not official LE IMHO

I think immediately following the discovery someone you know committed a heinous act, your emotions and reactions to them are not your friend! After reality sinks in, things may change.

I think this is true. It just seems surreal.
Plus, if this was someone she had truly cared about she would have probably known him as kind and loving.
Something went really really wrong with this young man! I wonder when it began. And who noticed when and what. When we love someone and we see something going haywire with them I think we try to do what we think is best to get them back on the right road. And as a loving family member or friend we don't always see the true problem clearly. My heart goes out to jessicas family and friends and also to the perps family and friends. So many victims from so many angles. So sad.

17 years old...wow!
a little o/t but not really....I live in a small town in Georgia in a neighborhood with many chidren (8-16) that actually play outside...ride bikes, kick ball, etc. There is a small group of girls that love to walk our dog every afternoon. It has become quite routine and our Peaches always know when they are at the door to get her. We have an old fashioned (real) gumball machine right inside the front door (the do not have to even walk in the door) and I give them each a few quarters and they get some gum. I have always casually mentioned to them about being careful of strangers and stranger danger. Also, when I am not home they are not abe to walk her. Mu husband thinks it is inappropriate if he is the only one home.....I say all of this to say....when the came by this afternoon I guess I am so emotionally on the edge because of Jessica, Autumn, Whitney...and on and on...I started talking to them basically begging them NEVER help anyone find their lost dog, never get within arms length of someone in a car, practice screaming and kicking ...etc...All of a sudden I realized I was crying so hard I could not talk and there were about 15 kids in my yard trying to figure out if I had lost my mind...One of the little girls (9) looked terrified which if it saves any of their lives I hope I terrified all of them. What amazed me the most were some of there comment..."I only go in houses if my parents know the people" and I would only ride in a car with someone my parents know and so on....I was practically screaming at them NO.....NEVER GO IN A HOUSE , NEVER GET IN A CAR...I scared myself. I guess if they listened to me, Peaches may never get another walk...

What a story, Cam...

I am picturing the faces of the kids...:what::what::what:

And I imagine you made a positive impression on their lives... :therethere:

Having it come from someone who cares so much, as you do, is one step better than a routine "Stranger Danger" video (which is okay, if that is the only resource at hand).

Respectfully shortened and bbm.
It makes sense if he has a paraphilia (and most will have more than one paraphilia). He might not have been "interested" in a live victim. He might also be delusional and obsessed with dismembering someone.

Well, I said that regardless of when he actually killed her, his greater goal was what he did to her in death. I don't doubt that she died relatively soon after she was abducted. But what I'm also saying, in part, is I perceive gaps in his story about the chain of events. We don't know exactly what he's told LE because they may not want all that released, but if what we know is all he's told them so far, he left out key parts of the story. Where and how he dismembered this poor child is central to his alleged fascination.

Maybe he managed his abduction, restraint, and strangulation crime while stopped on the street, immediately after getting her in his vehicle. Maybe he spent more time with her than he's talking about.

But whatever the case, I suspect he is still playing games with the police because he savors his crime and the subsequent attention to it like the rest of us savor a glass of fine wine.

Just addressing that those girls said he was still in high school ... I don't really know. Maybe he was physically at school some times, but not enrolled.

Like stalking...?

Sounds like my two Jack Russell Terriers.

You are right. They are so smart, but such a mess. We just moved to the country and she is trouble all the time. She is a perfect example of loving life regardless of the consequences. Guess I will just have to keep her in the house. Oh well, she is sleeping peacefully at the foot of my bed while I am having a scotch and water. Funny thing, I would be doing that anyway. This case has creeped me out totally. It is so sad and I am glad they have a resolution to it.

You know, with this suspect's studies and "interests", even his internet history, if it had been checked prior to this crime, might not have aroused undue suspicions, as it may have seemed like research (much like the internet history of many of us here.) So even if his mother had monitored that (which is doubtful for a 17-year old) that may not have provided her with any real clues that something was wrong.

But I still think we will be hearing of other things that were/should of been red flags.

People talk about how violent video games or "torture 🤬🤬🤬🤬" movies desensitize people, but what about the 24/7 media coverage on crime cases? On ABC News' website at this moment, I see headlines about Jessica, 3 people killed in shooting, an execution in Texas for a 1991 murder, the missing baby in PA, the woman who murdered Sylvia Likens, Skakel being denied parole, and the Fort Hood massacre.

But imo, there is a big difference between the two. When you watch 'torture 🤬🤬🤬🤬' you are watching it from a pleasurable point of view. Many are relating to the torturer and imagining themselves doing the same evil deeds to someone.

When you play video games, once again, YOU are the killer, the predator.

When people watch the news about Jessica or about a shooting in a workplace, they are usually relating to the victims, and wanting the perps to be caught.

Bullying is mean, hurtful, and unnecessary.

However, there is not ONE person on the face of this earth who will walk through life without someone saying something negative or something they perceive as negative about them.

It cannot become an excuse. We cannot control others actions.... we can only control our own actions and reactions.

Agreed. I think the concept of personal responsibility is not emphasized enough by parents today. I hate that he was bullied. I'm sorry if he had a tough life. But, I'm certain others have lived through worse. Killing an innocent child is hardly an appropriate response and now it's time for him to face the consequences. Life is tough and we should probably all wear helmets.

I agree with you. And has he admitted to any sort of sexual misconduct. I have not heard that in any reports. jmo

I am really having trouble envisioning how AS could have hogtied Jessica inside a car.

This reeks of BS to me. From him or the media reports, not sure which.
