The search for missing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway of Westminster continues Monday, with 12 agencies and 125 people searching a triangular area from Colo. 128 (West 120th Avenue) to Colo. 93 then back along U.S. 36, including Eldorado Canyon. Volunteers continue to post flyers throughout the west Metro area, although they have not been asked to participate in the search.

I definitely believe the backpack is ominous and not an effort on the part of the abductor to thwart or slow down investigations by taking it to an area that falls in another LE district..if he had wanted to keep it unfound and unknown to the jurisdiction thats workjng the case...well..he very simply would have ensured it was unfound by putting it in a dumpster far away or even burning it..so, it is imo the total opposite of that intention of keeping the LE unbeknownst to theback pack, HE WANTED IT FOUND, NOTICED, AND FULLY KNOWN..

IMO THAT SADLY DOES NOT BODE WELL FOR OUR PRECIOUS JESSICA:(

Hi. I don't come around often anymore. I was more active on the Lauren Spierer thread. I have been lurking here and hope this poor girl is found alive and well! I am wondering if someone could please explain what you mean about "the basement" and "Upstairs" please. Thank you.

Me too. I have been really down lately and didn't intend to follow any more missing-persons cases. I have only been listening to ESPN (haha), not even checking the news really...today I went to NBC news site for the first time in ages and saw Jessica's picture (didn't notice the headline) and it made me smile. Then I noticed the headline. So here I am again. :seeya:

why doesnt she call the cops rather than twitter?

Based on her tweets, I believe she did report the possible siting to police but apparently she is angry that they did not investigate. Not sure how she knows they didn't investigate.

Thanks. I'm still trying to catch up this morning. He mentioned ICE had been brought in and their work in border investigations. Glad to see it covered, but a little speculation on her being taken to Mexico or Canada, imo. Also, in 🤬🤬🤬🤬 or trafficking. Sorry, hate to go there...but a possiblity. imo

ICE is helping because of their expertise in searching wide open spaces.

How long has parents been separated or divorced.
Were they ever married?
I noticed Jessica doesnt have her fathers last name.

So I had to go to the store and drove past the open space. There were several horse trailers there, but I did not see any people. I did see a helicopter flying low in the area. As I headed farther NE on McCaslin, I saw two policemen walking with long poles next to a ditch with tall grass. I also saw some police SUVs loaded down with bikes on the back heading towards the open space.
What was weird, though, was that there really didn't look like there was much gong on. If I didn't know, I would've been like "Oh cool! People riding horses on the open space, fun!". It just looked like a lack of police cars, etc. (Helicopters are also pretty common around here because of tourists viewing the Flatirons). I guess I was expecting major road blocks or something, or just more. I didn't see a single police car in the lot for the open space.
Also an interesting note, which I did no realize before, is that Rock Creek in a super hoots touts neighborhood. I've driven by it several times, just never paid attention to the name until today.
ETA, on the corner of The toll road and 96th street, there was a police car driving very, very slow down an unused road with tons of tall grass bordering it. It is outside the search area.

if the street names alpha and andrew have any significance... could LE possibly do a search to see if anyone in the area has search for that intersection/looked up directions to it?

This may be a stupid questions, but....

Why is it that they are starting with the "open areas"? I understand that they're easier to search, to get them out of the way quickly and move on, but how likely is it that a child would be taken to an open area? I can understand searching the open areas through which she walked, but I got the feeling that they're just searching all open areas (even those over by where the backpack was found). To me, this seems like a waste of time, when there's already been so much lost time.

Open spaces don't really mean flat, open spaces. More like nature preserves/hiking trails open to the public that cannot be developed commercially or for residential use.

I think they live with Grandmother and aunt! So she would not be alone,
When did they last see Jessica?

Or SHE did, (want it to be found) which DOES bode well for her. It means she got an opportunity to leave a trail, if so. ??

Does she live there with them, or does she just spend the night? And if she lives there, does she go out to business (as my gramma would say) every day? Otherwise, she would have heard the phone call from the school. Apparently the school did nothing other than make an unanswered call.

iirc thats how the streets are in co. every two streets of the same first letter... like alpha and then andrew... then birch and then betel etc... again, iirc its been awhile since i lived in denver...

eta: aa, bb, cc, dd, ee, ff, gg ...... kwim?

There is no uniformity of street naming across the state. I know several neighborhoods in metro Denver off the top of my head that don't follow that naming convention. While many neighborhoods in metro Denver have open space and trails by design, someone yesterday said there's little variance in architectural design of houses in the state. That's untrue. Not a big point, but I don't want people believing misinformation about our state and our metro area.

i think it seems more likely that Jessica left this bag than i do someone planted it here. Maybe that is naive and hopeful but it also is simple and obvious.

Yep, open space just means land set aside as large swaths of no development/natural vegetation, etc. We value the outdoors and nature. :) It can be hills, plains, grassy, marshy, forested, with or without constructed bike paths & trails, etc. Videos from Saturday searches show some of the tall grass some searched through.

Does anyone know if the police have gone door to door in the neighborhood where the backpack was found to see if any homes have exterior video surveillance that may have picked up traffic on video? If this is a residential street, it most likely had little traffic between 6pm and midnight on Saturday (the time frame within when the person who found the backpack believes the backpack showed up).

The backpack was found 6 miles from home and left in the location sometime between 6:45 PM and 1 AM. How would she get it there?

Looking at the distance between home and Chelsea Park, there was not a lot of time for her to be grabbed ... since they lived almost across the street from the park.

home_park.jpg

"Jessica Ridgeway was last seen walking to Chelsea Park in the area of 107th Avenue and Moore Street around 8:30 a.m. Friday, where she was to meet several friends before walking to Witt Elementary School. Jessica's mother stood in the front yard of their home at 10768 Moore St. until her daughter was out of sight.

Jessica never showed up at the park or at school."

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingn...ues-missing-westminster-girl-jessica-ridgeway

Asked about a tip that a suspicious van was seen in Jessica's neighborhood Friday morning, Matterasso said there was no indication that a random child abductor is on the loose.

Still, police are taking precautions. Matterasso said officers are stationed Monday at every elementary school in Westminster and surrounding communities.
